We purchased our first unit. The owner claimed it was a good unit, because he knew the person it came from, but the coil leaked. We took the unit back and the owner exchanged it for another unit. The second unit's compressor failed after less than a week. We returned to the store a third time in a week to get our money so that we could purchase a new unit elsewhere. The owner refused to give us our money back. He made excuse after excuse. Many of which contradicted previous excuses. At one point, he accused us of breaking the unit. Was he kidding???!!!!!??? In the end we did get our money back, but that was not without a ton of arguing. We were yelled at, insulted and lied to. We had to yell back to get him to do what was right. I understand that it is in a company?s best interest to maintain a profit, but customer service or ethical standards should not be compromised in the process. My wife and I are both teachers. We consistently reinforce to our students a need to honor their word and to treat others as they wish to be treated. We think that Alton Parts Supply could learn a lot from our students. The owner?s attitude from the beginning was one of an accusatory nature. We were not asking for complete compensation for expenses (labor, Freon, and travel expenses). We simply wanted the money that we spent on the initial unit so that we could go elsewhere and we should not have had to fight for it. It appeared to us that the company sells a/c units of questionable quality with the expectation that customers will eventually get tired of dealing with his poor used units and choose to install a new unit. With his return policy the customer is forced to purchase the new unit from him, which is more expensive than other dealers. Our experience with this company was filled with condescension, excuses, and half-truths. We are not seeking a remedy other than making sure that other potential customers are made aware of APS's customer service and exchange policies.

THE WORKMEN WERE VERY PERSONABLE AND KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING. WE WERE ABLE TO ASK ABOUT THE INSTALLATION, AND THEY GAVE US A LOT OF INFORMATION ABOUT HOW THE NEW FURNACE AND AIR CONDITIONING WOULD WORK. I AM MORE THAN GLAD TO RECOMMEND THEM & THEIR COMPANY.
Description of Work: THEY REPLACED OUR FURNACE AND AIR CONDITIONER WITH A NEW ONE THAT IS MORE EFFICENT AND ECONOMICAL.
