A couple weeks after signing the contract, we got a phone call from the company asking for an additional $658. Apparently they made a mistake. A couple days later, they dropped the new increase to $488. We canceled. As a retired salesman, I have made my share of errors, but NEVER would I expect the customer to be punished for them. I suspect now that they really didn’t want a little $5000 job in the first place. To their credit, they promptly and courteously refunded our deposit. That being said, a measure of trust was violated. When a company tries to increase their signed agreement, alarm bells should sound from the consumer. I think this is a fairly good company that has somehow lost its way. I’ve told this story to several business associates, and the unanimous consensus is that this represents a poor business practice, raising suspicions. Others could not believe that Trost would do this, especially since no offer was made to honor the agreement. And that people who know this company quickly defend their honesty. But considering our experience, we cannot recommend them.

we have used this provider previously at another residence and called them first for this job. They are very professional people and always get back back with you very quickly. They materials came in on time and the workers worked quickly to get the job installed even in freezing weather ! They cleaned up all materials and left our property in great condition. The workers all know exactly what they are doing and work quickly and efficiently. I would recommend them to anyone wanting fencing installed !

I really enjoyed my experience with Trost Plastics. I called them to come out and give me a quote on installing a fence. They were able to come out and asked me what my vision was. They were able to provide me with a complete brochure to show the options that I had available. I was worried about getting a fence that my small dog could not escape through. I also wanted something nice as it is a new construction home and I wanted everything to have a similar look and feel. They were very eager help me and understand what I wanted. They took in-depth measurements then gave me a quote that day. They answered every question I had and even measured my dog to make sure she could not get through the slats. They were the most reasonably priced and offered the best fence that I could find on the market. The first time they came for installation they stepped on to the yard and informed me that the ground was too soft to install. They marked for the fence and asked me if that was what I expected. It was so they told me that I would stay at the top of the install list and the first day available they would come back out and install. I did not have to worry that my fence would be skipped but I did call a couple of times to make sure they were coming back. Each time I called the person on the phone was very helpful and make sure I knew they were still waiting for a good day for install. Three weeks and two winter storms later they were back to install. The men came to my door and asked one more time if the measurements were correct and got started. I could see that they were digging into rock underground. I could also tell they were dealing with clay dirt but they completed the whole job in one day and left my yard better than they found it. They took to some of the excess dirt and filled in some low spots which was a huge help for me. All of the other excess rock and dirt was taken away with them so I did not have to find something to do with it. Again huge help! I would not hesitate to ever call this company again for any of my fencing needs. Everyone that I spoke to via phone or in person was professional and I truly felt like a valued customer. My dog and I could not be happier with our new fennce.

From the start, it was a pleasure to work with the team from Trost Plastics. The owners, Dennis and Janet, came to our home to take measurements and discuss options with us. They were very friendly and patient while we asked numerous questions. They provided recommendations, yet never gave us the hard sell approach. A period of time passed as we debated about what fence styles we wanted. We decided to take a drive to their showroom in Columbia, IL and see the options in person, rather than just in the brochure. We were greeted by Andrea, who was very friendly and helpful. She answered questions for us, and showed us the various fence models. It was most helpful to look through the books they have, full of pictures of fences installed for previous customers. We saw a picture of a previous customer?s yard, and finally agreed that we found the fence we wanted for around the pool! Once we made our two selections (a fence around the pool, plus a separate perimeter fence for the backyard), we then worked with Tim on scheduling the installation. He was responsive to our phone calls, and was very customer oriented. We had our fences installed during a rainy period and he sent his crew out to assess the conditions as he did not want to damage our yard during the process. He assured us that through this rainy period, they would stay with our job until completion, and he was true to his word. Once the weather cleared up, the crew was back out to finish. Upon completion of the installation, we had two small issues to fix. Tim sent a crew out timely to take care of the fixes, to our satisfaction. Finally, we want to specifically acknowledge Terry and Mike, the installers. Having had the opportunity to meet them, it was apparent that they take great pride in their work. The fences are sturdy, neatly installed, and the finished product looks awesome! We are very pleased with the results, and we?ve already received multiple complements on the fences. We highly recommend Trost Plastics!

Their quote was quite a bit higher than a competitor's but I had heard good things about them. The husband and wife team came to my house to work up an estimate, and I got the permit from city hall. The workers showed up on time and were very nice. The fence is great. My beef is about the mess left behind, the lack of communication about said mess, and the confusing message I received from the wife about my concerns. There was a lot of mud and torn up ground left after the job. And no explanation. I waited 3 days and called to inquire. I received 2 calls back, first from the husband who said words I wanted to hear: "I have some information and answers for you." He explained some of the difficulty the workers ran into. He and his wife subsequently came by and threw some grass seed down. The wife, though, called me back separately and ignored my question instead telling me that the workers found shrubbery they didn't know about that they had to cut back. This has nothing to do with my question about the muddy mess left. In fact, I was at home for 2 hours when the work started and I went out to greet they guys. They said nothing about cutting back a shrub or having encountered anything they felt I should deal with, and I wasn't requested to do so by the husband and wife at the time they gave their estimate. I also went outside to leave for work when the old fence was completely taken down and before the new one went up. Quite a sight (!) and I joked with the guys a bit and took a photo on my phone. Again, nothing asked of me about the shrub. So: out of the blue response to my concern about the mess. It's been a long time since I took college psychology. My neighbors who used the company for work on their property confirmed my bummed out feelings about the mess, saying they didn't think it should've been left like that, and with no follow up on the company's part.

Showed on time, removed old fence, installed new. Part of old fence is still being used, theytightened the posts even though its been in 10 years. Work is perfect, as always. Third time we have used Trost, would never call anyone else for a fence!!!

Trost Plastics was a joy to work with. I received bids & consultations from several other companies, who all seemed to employ aggressive, high-pressure sales tactics. The folks who came out from Trost were friendly, patient, and very knowledgeable. They took their time to understand what my needs were, walked the property with me, provided several options and discussed the pros & cons of each. All in all, it was like having a relaxing conversation with a neighbor. Their bid fell on the higher end of the ones I received, but I was so impressed with their professionalism, experience, and knowledge that I went with them. It was worth the investment. They arrived on time, finished the work in one day, and with very minimal disruption to the yard. Two and half years later, their product looks great and works great. I would highly recommend this company.

We have a very difficult backyard with steep slopes. We had other companies come out and give us bids but they all left us feeling that they didin't really know how to handle our situation. Trost gave a clear understandable explaination of the installation and how the fence would look, making us feel comfortable that they would handle the job well. We are very pleased with the job that they did and with the way our fence looks.

First exposed to salesman Tim at tradeshow and gave a rough estimate and invite to Illinois showroom...Visit to showroom firmed up the project estimate and was able to see samples of fencing product up close (personable and very knowledgeable staff)....final onsite estimate by owners...just made you feel comfortable and gave me their very best deal and approximate start time (was right on)....The two man production crew was outstanding...took down old fence and replaced with new product in efficient, professional manner...LOVE my new vinyl fence....Would highly recommend Trost Plastics to all...in fact I have another project that I will definitely be using them for...

We had a very pleasurable experience with Trost Plastics. All work was done as explained and everything was cleaned up afterward. We had 2 "slats" in our fence with minor damage and Trost came back out and replaced them with no problem. The installers were very nice and made every effort to accommodate us when we had questions, etc. It has almost been a year now and we are extremely happy with our fence and gate.

Everything went great!!! From the first call when I spoke with Andrea, to the home visit with the owners for my measurements/pricing. Then they send the two hardest workers to do the job. The installers were very professional, curious, diligent, and always had a smile on their face. They completed my install in a day and a half. If I ever have a need for another fence, I will definitely be calling Trost Plastics.

They had to delay our instalation by one day due to incilmate weather. So they took the time to call and explain why.This company made us feel as family by asking us if we understood the reason for the delay which was pouring down rain .They seemed t care very much about how we felt about the cause for the delay . Everything went fine. What I really like about them is they didn't collect the money right away, they are sending an invoice. I'm really impressed with how they do business.

I first contacted Trost at a Home Show in downtown St. Louis and showed them my existing concrete steps. They provided me with some options and photos of steps units. A few months later, I went to their location in Columbia, IL to see their products fist hand. While there, I could see several actual examples of the steps I was looking for. They also went over the options available and gave me several quotes based on several options. A complicating factor for this job was the existing concrete steps and whether they had to be removed or not. , thI set up an appointment for them to come to my house to take measurements and to determine a solution to the problem of the existing steps. In order to save considerable expense in jack-hammering the old steps, they said that they could engineer a step unit that would fit over the old one. Approximately 5 weeks later, they called to say that the unit was ready and they were able to come out the next morning to install it. The installation went very smoothly with only some minor leveling needed. Now I have a much safer set of four steps with handrail in place of my old 3 step concrete one.

Great -- good job. Men worked in a very professional manner being able to complete the job in one day. At the end of the day all excess materials, packaging etc. was removed from the site. I highly recommend this company.

The two contractors were polite, kept us informed of the progress, and completed the work in a little less than two days. They cleaned up and left the yard pretty much as they found it. (There was bound to be some dirt & rock - there were lots of posts!) The owners gave us the original bid and their employees did everything the bid specified. Vinyl fencing is expensive but (1) there is little maintenance, (2) Trost came recommended by a neighbor, and (3) they were actually the least expensive bid. If you need a fence, I highly recommend Trost Plastics.

The two installers arrived on time, were very professional, and cleaned everything up before departure. I am very pleased with how the fence looks. I wish I could have installed more, but due to the cost, am dividing my 1/2 acre into three sections and doing one section at a time. The one section I had done was $4536.39. I also plan on having them install a 10' x 12' pergola (after I save up for it!) which should be around $3000. My neighbors have commented on how nice my fence looks, and one of them, who is a contractor, said I did the RIGHT thing by not using a big box store (and you know who I mean!) because the quality of my fence was better and the work was done correctly. Looking forward to using Trost again. Just wish I could win the lottery and get it all completed sooner!

They were very professional. They were accurate in measuring. They told us what we needed to do for them to give the fence in and gave us an estimate on when they could install the fence.

They did a good job and the deck price was real reasonable. The workers were fine and I would definitely recommend them to others. The price for the fence and handrail was a bit high.

We needed a fence to prevent children and others from falling down a sharp drop created when our neighbors installed a driveway behind our yard (our house sits on a hill with this neighbor's property below us). The owners of Trost Plastics came quickly after I called and gave an estimate after seeing what we wanted done. After notifying us, their workers came a week sooner than promised on an afternoon. They carefully unloaded the fence and equipment making sure they did not damage our plants. They began work, but were rained out before finishing. They came back the next day and completed the installation as specified. The workers were very professional and cleaned up the yard when they were finished. The fence looks very good! We are very pleased with their work and how quickly it was completed.
