Mitkus Home Remodeling promised to submit a proposal in tme to fit my very tight schedule (I am a long-distance landlord). They provided no proposal but showed up on the start date and started the job. I had hired someone else, because I only had a 4-week window, but I really wanted to build a long-term relationship with a local business, so I decided to go forward with the job description he provided the next day. Anything that was not specifically in writing was an extra charge, for example, repairing drywall and finishing (trim) was included, but not painting the finish or trim. Under-cabinet light installation was in the proposal, but not the light fixtures themselves. This was the pattern of poor communication - no sense of the total design, no sense of a completed job, and no discussion of the results. They were rude to other workmen in the house.The installation was very messy. The finished wall cabinet side panels were never installed (I guess because it was not specified as part of installing cabinets-just the base). Holes for a handle were drilled on the wrong side and filled with putty (ugly) rather than replacing the cabinet door. A visible gap was left where the oven was installed, though extra material was available to cover it. They were called back three times to correct the dishwasher installation, which was flooding. They extended the gas lines from the basement to install a gas cooktop, but a leak was finally noticed about two months later and had to be repaired by the gas company. The electrical work caused breakers to pop when the remodeled kitchen was in use because all new outlets were put on the same breaker and cost over $2,000.00 to repair because a new line was needed. They left garbage on site for the owner to dispose. They didn't finish any tasks that were reported to them after they were paid. Now I would not want them to come back.
