I called several companies to looking for a informed sales person who could really tell me what i was buying and most of which canceled there appointment or were late, those who showed up just gave me a estimate and left. When i called Economy Fence Inc i was greeted by a sales representative with the knowledge i was wanting. Every question i asked he was quick to reply with the information that made sense. so i took a couple days and when he followed up with me, i went a head and bought it. There crew that came out to do the work was very nice and TRUSTWORTHY people. They did a great job setting the post, then a couple days latter came out to finish my fence and man what can i say but A++ i even wrote them a letter telling them how great of a job they did and that i would recommend them to all of my friends and family. 1. They were absolutely hurried. They were on Angie's list. They deserve to finish from the bottom. The pricing was good. They did it horribly. They installed the fence that was not plum. They decided not to install the gates that were what I designed. Perfectly, I told them what I wanted with the designs, and I made drawings of it. The fence and the gates that they put in, I have the photographs that prove it was out of plum. It wouldn't close properly. The hinges are not aligned, and it was very a ugly piece of work. I would even say the workmanship was blind. When I told I won't do their final payment, and it was a small amount. They were certain to come out on to the property. They did the entire fence out.

The experience was a disaster from the start. We gave them detailed drawings of where the fence and gates were to be installed and did a complete walk through with the salesman of our expectations. First, the crews were late showing up. Secondly they started diging one of the gate posts in the wrong place, damaging the sidewalk on the side of the house. Then they installalled the fence with a horizontal slope instead of leveled so that if one put a ball on one end, it would rolled acroos to the other end. When we complained, they refused to re-install the fence correctly, and refused to repair the damage to our sidewalk. We further found that they were charging us for 25' of fence that was neither installed nor needed, and there was a railing that was never installed which was supposed to a part of the fence for which we had contracted. They then had the gall to demand payment for an incomplete and improperly installed fence, with damages to our property. We had to call in a second contractor to repair and reinstall the fence and repair the hole in our sidewalk. It wasn't until I threatened to bring an attorney into all of this that they agreed to drop the bill. Run, don't walk away from this company.

Contracted for a new back yard fence with three exit gates. Workers installed post (not on schedule), but never came back to complete the job. The job was to be completed in July, but now it is September, and I'm still waiting. Worst part, is that I gave a $1,500 deposit. The salesman had the nerve to ask to pick up the second part when the job was not completed. Looks like the post they put in were not measured right either.

The sales pitch was great and responsive to my questions. However, I was expecting to be "scheduled" in three weeks and it took about five weeks. Then once they showed up to dig the posts, they never told me any more about timing unless I asked. They had to (1) dig the holes (looks like they picked up guys off the corner), (2) get an inspection, (3) set the posts in concrete, (4) come back and install the fence and the gates. The process took about 6 weeks from beginning to end. While they warned me that plants that were in the way would need to be moved or marked carefully, they didn't tell me that they would basically stomp on or dump dirt on anything anywhere near the fence. They went right through the middle of a hydrangea that I didn't realize would be in their way, and never told me that the one plant I had carefully cut back and market would be in their way since they had shifted the fence line a little to be sure to be in the lot line. When they dug the holes, they dumped the dirt everywhere so it hit whatever plants were anywhere nearby and when they filled in the holes, just dumped the dirt both in my neighbor's yard and against the back wall of the siding on my garage. The only time they checked in was the first day the showed up. After that, they just arrived whenever and started to work. After the holes were dug, the guy came to the door for me to sign off and I said I'd like to go look around. He rolled his eyes and looked annoyed at me. The fence is okay, but compared to my next door neighbor's fence done by First Fence, mine is not as well done. They have top caps on the posts and nice gate hardware. When I asked what I would get they said something like that and I got "hand cut" top caps and hardware that isn't nearly as nice and can't easily be locked.

They are very diligent. Came right away and gave a very detailed estimate. They seem to honor their customers, by giving discounts.

The experience was horrible. They showed up when they wanted to despite the fact that I told them only to come while I was at home. What they built was shoddy and out of plumb. The gates were mismatched. They were not the way that the agreement we entered into stated they should be. The gates don't swing properly and they don't close properly. They are threatening to come out and take the fence back because I won't pay for the awful work they did. They are very crude and impossible to work with.

This was a disaster. They claim they pulled a city permit, but the city does not have a permit on record. I sent a list of specific problems that needed fixing to the salesman and directly to the company. The main concerns are large sections of lattice that are partially nailed on the edges, however instead of installing one piece, two pieces are jerry-rigged with nothing securing the pieces in the center. They have refused to come back and see the problem in person and in the Angie?s List complaint process they claim the problem was wood quality, when really the problem is poor workmanship. In addition, the top cap of the fence is totally different in several sections and does not match

Glad we did not use them for our fence, especially when seeing other's experiences here on the site.

THE WOOD WAS VERY POOR QUALITY. THEY USED SPLIT WOOD THAT HAD A LOT OF KNOTS. WE WANTED A PRIVACY FENCE, BUT THEY HAD THE WOOD SLATS TOO FAR AWAY, SO IT WASN'T A PRIVACY FENCE. THE OWNER WAS REALLY RUDE WHEN WE TRIED TO WORK WITH HIM ON RESOLVING THE PROBLEMS. HE DIDN'T APOLOGIZE OR TRY TO MAKE IT RIGHT.

I WISH EVERY COMPANY, WE DEALT WITH, WAS THIS PROFESSIONAL. THEY RESPONDED PROMPTLY, AT EVERY STEP OF THE PROCESS, AND DID WHAT THEY SAID THEY WERE GOING TO DO, WHEN THEY SAID THEY WERE GOING TO DO IT. THEY TOLD US EXACTLY WHAT WE WOULD NEED TO GET A PERMIT FOR THE WORK, FROM THE VILLAGE OF OAK PARK, WHICH IS NO MEAN FEAT. THE PRICE WAS COMPETITIVE, AND THE FENCE LOOKS GREAT. I WOULD DEFINITELY USE THESE GUYS AGAIN, AND ENTHUSIASTICALLY RECOMMEND THEM.

I HAD MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS COMPANY. THE CONCRETE WORKER SPILLED A LOAD OF CONCRETE ON MY LAWN, THEY DAMAGED THE BRICK MORTAR ON THE GARAGE SETTING THE POSTS AND THE GATE WAS BUILT WITH WARPED WOOD. IN SPITE OF MANY CALLS, REPAIRS AND COMPENSATION HAS NOT BEEN NOT FORTHCOMING SINCE THIS HAPPENED 2 MONTHS AGO. WOULD NOT USE OR RECOMMEND.

I WILL NEVER HIRE THIS COMPANY AGAIN (THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE USED THEM). THEY CLAIMED THEY CALLED ME A DAY PRIOR TO INSTALLING THE POST, BUT BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT REACH ANYONE MY SCHEDULED WORK TIME WAS PUSHED OUT ANOTHER WEEK. I SPOKE TO THE RECEPTIONIST, WHO WAS VERY RUDE, AND SHE SAID THEY USUALLY GIVE A 10 DAY COURTESY CALL (ANOTHER LIE). I TOLD HER IF THIS WAS THE CASE WHY WAS I ONLY GIVEN A ONE DAY NOTICE??? I EVEN SPOKE TO MY SALESPERSON WHO SAID HE WOULD CHECK INTO THIS MATTER AND HE NEVER RETURNED MY CALL. AGAIN, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.

OTHER THAN BRINGING THE WRONG SIZED POSTS (6 X 4 INSTEAD OF 4 X 4) THE WORK WAS GOOD. VERY FAST AND EFFICIENT.
