This was a pretty unfortunate experience that started out rather promising. The up front customer service was very good - they were prompt at responding to phone calls and helping with colors. They came out to give an estimate and look at our bathroom - no other tile refinishing company that I had contacted was willing to come out and do an estimate in person. This was a big deal to me because I have a sort of textured ceramic tile, not shiny, flat, ceramic or porcelain tile like is shown in most of the pictures I had seen. The tech who came out to give me the estimate was nice and reassured me that the product would look on my tile, even though it was textured. I was also very concerned about them doing to floor because some other companies had told me that they will not refinish floor tile (I now understand why - see below). I was reassured that the floor would look just great. I was also told that they provide a 5 year warranty. We scheduled the work they came out just as expected. This is where all the issues began. First, the process reeks to high heaven. We were told that they use a ventilation system that would take the odor out of the bathroom and vent out the nearest window. What a joke! The ventilation system must have been 100 years old. The whole room was foggy when I came home to check on things, the ventilation system totally sucked (and not literally). My room smelled so awful and strong, that I had to stay in a hotel that night and have all my clothes and bedding cleaned. Our neighbors in our building were sending out emails complaining, and the people who live above us were very unhappy. My eyes were burning! Total nightmare. Then, the finished product - yeah, not so good. I understood the process like this: they use a chemical to sort of strip the existing tile of its first layer and then spray on a new layer, so that the tile looks redone or "reglazed" and NOT painted. Well, it looks painted. The walls did turn out a lot better than the floor. It looks like a thinner coat on the walls. It definitely doesn't look like its real tile, but you can see the texture of the tile versus the grout, so it looks reasonable. The floor though is awful. It looks like someone just caked on a bunch of paint onto the floor. And worst of all, it is sooo shiny (even though I was assured they would use a flat finish instead of gloss). It looks like a garage floor. Worst of all, the floor had quite a few spots where the original tile was showing through (which is how I know the surface of the original tile was never removed, it looked just like it always had peeping through there). We called to complain about the smell, which was dismissed. We also called to complain about the spots, but we didn't want them to spray again because it was so god awful. So they sent the tech out to retouch it. Which is already coming back off. Not to mention the floor is incredibly touchy. I had to remove the access panel under my tub and just that sliding across the floor scratched it and removed the paint. Man, just terrible. And of course, I have yet to receive our warranty even after asking for it numerous times. Just rehashing this is so frustrating. I'm going to have to get my bathroom door redone (as in demolished and retiled) at some point. What a waste of money. I a may leave the shower walls though. They're ok - kinda shiny and a little odd looking, but not worth redoing, I guess.
