Dave and Dave from Windy City Movers arrived on time, were incredibly professional, handled all of my items with great care, and successfully moved me into the a third floor unit of an apartment building with no elevator. They were friendly, always making sure they placed furniture where I wanted it to be placed, and I was very impressed with how quickly they were able to get everything up the stairs and into my new home. I highly recommend Dave and Dave.

Tim S. called me on time and said that they were on their way and i told him that i was very nervous and overwhelmed. Tim assured me they were there to help and to make this as easy on me as they could. They were speedy, but careful with my furniture. And as Tim had said i had nothing to worry about. They finished the job quicker than i had anticipated and secretly wished they also help unpack. I would definitely hire them again. They were courteous, quick and professional.

The two were incredibly efficient. Moved us out of the storage lockers and in to the truck in no time. They found a place for everything and balanced all of our items so we could transport our cargo safely and securely. Not a thing was damaged, scratched or mishandled. Joey and Moses were by far the most professional, efficient and organized movers I have ever experienced and will definitely be requesting them again.

The move went very well! We had 3 hardworking guys----Dave, Bill and Mitch. They arrived on time and immediately assessed the situation and then followed through with an efficient plan. I couldn't believe how fast they were! There were several large, heavy items, including a piano! but nothing slowed them down. They knew we were on a budget and did their best to get the job done quickly. On top of that they had a great attitude which made the move go even better. It was easy to tell they worked well together as a team and were very experienced. We had too much stuff to move into the apartment and used Windy City Storage to put the extra boxes temporarily. That went well also. The same woman who I initially talked to about the move handled the renting of the storage space and she was very nice and helpful. I hope I don't have to move again any time soon but I know that I would call Windy City Movers when the time comes.

They arrived at the promised time, set right to work and had the apartment emptied in a half hour, to my surprise. There were 3 men and they were professional, careful and fast, as well as friendly to both me and my 10-year-old grandson who was there to help me. Altogether the job took only 2 hours including travel and the cost was less than originally estimated. I was delighted with the move Windy City did for me and would happily recommend them to anyone.

The movers were 2h 45m late. We had reserved the high rise elevator from 12-3 and they showed up at 2:45. They knew about the problem but could not find a truck to get there any earlier. Fortunately the next person did not start using the elevator until almost 4. They brought in extra crew to assist with the moving out because of the tight timeline. Once they were on site they were very quick and efficient. They also did a qucik job of unpacking the apartment.

Windy City Movers sent a team of three guys. They were 15 minutes late but they called and told me when I could expect them. Upon arrival they walked around with me to ensure they knew which items were going. Within 15 minutes, they began working. Each person had their own role. They moved very efficiently. If I asked them a question, they took the time to answer it very professionally. When they delivered to the new place, there were three sets of stairs they had to navigate. They moved quickly and I never heard a complaint. When they went to replace the glass on some of the furniture. They offered to hold it while I cleaned it. In addition to being professional they were also . Moving isn't necessairly a fun activity, but they made it enjoyable. I would recommend Tim S, Steve M and Tommy. I would highly recommend Windy City movers and request Tim, Tommy and Steve

They arrived about 10 minutes early, worked very efficiently and carefully, and used every inch of our truck to make everything fit. They were polite and courteous. All of our stuff was in perfect condition when we arrived to our new state. I highly recommend them.

This is the reason I joined Angies list, was to find great companies like Windy City Movers. On the day of the move they showed up a half hour early which was fine with me I was ready to get started. The two guys came up to see what all had to be moved, complimented me on how organized I was for the move, and got right to work. It took them about two hours to load and about the same to unload. They were both very professional, polite and hard workers. I treated them to lunch since they were working through the noon hour. I highly recommend using Windy City Movers and would use them again for my next move, which I hope isn't soon, but I will recommend them to all my friends!

We had just had wood floors put in. Our furniture, etc. was in an apartment down the hall. They moved everything in less than 2 hours, put felt pads on everything before they brought it into the apartment. Their attitude was one of professional courtesy and total helpfulness. I can't imagine how they did all the moving they did as quickly as they did, especially considering the heat. But they were great.

I had been using Angie's list to find contractors and movers when my partner and I moved from the Northwest suburbs to the City of Chicago. I'd narrowed it down to three movers, one of which promised to call back with an estimate the day I called (they actually called a week after we moved). I almost missed Windy City and hadn't considered them because I didn't think they'd come out that far. When I searched movers near the house I was moving from, their name came up again, with very good reviews on Angie's list. When I called Windy City, the phone was answered by a live person instead of a recording. Sherry, who answered the phone, was very helpful and was able to quote rates immediately. She also estimated how many wardrobe boxes we'd need. I told her I was also checking prices with other movers and would get back to her. Because she was so professional I got a good feeling about the company so I called back the same day and scheduled the move.Later that week we went in and got some moving boxes. Everyone there was very pleasant and helpful.I checked in a day or so prior to the move date to confirm that we were on the schedule and that the time was right. Timing was important because we had to reserve the building elevator. Sherry confirmed everything for the day of the move. On the day of the move, the actual movers called to let me know that they were on the way and give me an estimated arrival time. There were three guys, Dave (the lead mover), Steve and Tim. When they arrived, they first walked through the house to assess the best approach, then started right in. Because we were downsizing, we also let them know what items we would not be moving. The movers were very efficient in emptying the house and taking outdoor items from the garage and porch. They finished faster than I expected, so I called the building to see if we could get the elevator a little earlier, then called Dave to let him know it was OK to arrive ahead of the original schedule. By the time we got there, they were already there, and unloading the truck. They had arranged access with the receiving room.Unloading was done as efficiently as the loading, so they finished pretty early. Since we were paying by the hour (in quarter hour increments), the cost was less than I had anticipated. Although they moved quickly and placed everything where we requested, there was no damage to any of the furniture or walls at either location.Moving can be a nightmare, especially if you get bad movers (I know from past experience). Windy City was great to deal with, from the initial call to the final move. The guys all had great personalities and were easy to work with. Overall the experience was a good one and I would enthusiastically recommend Windy City Movers to anyone.

I can't say enough good things about Windy City Movers. When we sold our condo and bought a house we looked at reviews for movers and were scared that so many either had bad reviews or had many good reviews and a few horrible reviews. Windy City seemed to be the only company that had consistently good reviews, and now we know why. We hired them to move us out of our condo, store everything overnight, and move us in the next day. We were really nervous about the entire thing because of the overnight storage, but they made it easy. Even when we had to change the time of our move-in only 48 hours before (when our closing time was pushed back further in the day than we expected), they were more than flexible and willing to work with our schedule that really pushed them into an extra long work-day. On the days of both moves the crew was prompt, friendly and efficient. They moved the few of our awkward items that we weren't sure how to pack without any problems, and brought wardrobe boxes for us to borrow for our remaining hanging clothes (we'd been told ahead of time they would do that). The final price was very close to the in-person estimate I received. After unpacking we haven't noticed any problems with our items whatsoever. No dings in the furniture, flat screen TV is perfect, and everything fragile made it safe and sound. Windy City Movers made something that has the potential to be super stressful so much easier! Ed, Shari and both crews were just great to work with. I'd happily recommend them to anyone who needed movers, especially for complicated 2 day moves like ours. Hopefully we won't be moving any time in the near future, but if we do, we know who to call!

Windy CIty moved my things from their storage facility to a new condo across town -- after making a quick stop to pick-up some additional items. I had a lot of boxes (but not much furniture) and they were able to move everything within two hours -- no mess, no fuss, no problems. It was a near perfect experience. This is my second time using Windy City Moving and I would NEVER choose anyone else. Addl comment: One of my bookshelves was scratched. After rather slow follow up from the manager, I was told that I could either accept a small token from the insurance company for the damage (since I did not purchase additional insurance) ... or I could let them fix the scratch for me. I chose to handle on my own since I did not care very much about the bookshelves.Although I still recommend this company, I would also encourage you to purchase additional insurance if there are items you fear getting damaged.

My movers were very professional, worked hard, were friendly, and performed quality work. I will use them again if I have to move.

The crew of Bill, Dave and Tim arrived around 9:30 in the morning, and using Jenga-like skills, managed to fit all of our belongings into their truck, which included approximately 125-150 individual boxes of "stuff" (a lot of it heavy stuff, like books, records and CDs). We had furniture, desks, bookshelves, bikes, bins and bins and bins of clothes and paperwork, and tons of boxes of other stuff, and they managed to figure out a way to squeeze it all in their truck -- even though we used the "big truck", we still filled it literally to the brim. Valuables/fragile pieces were wrapped in pads, absolutely nothing was damaged, and at the end of 9 hours, everything was put safely into our new house. The 3 gents who did the move were incredibly gracious the entire time, never once complained, and treated each piece with care. Very impressive.

They got to our place 20 minutes prior to the appointment time and checked everything out to figure out the best plan of attack. the started by bringing in boxes for us to move clothes that were on hangers in (Great service) We were able to move our clothes directly from one closet to another. Once we had our clothes packed, they basically cleared everything of one apartment and met us at our new place and again scoped out the best plan of attack. Let them know in advance if you have special moving needs so they can be properly prepared for them. The were able to unpack everything in a few hours. The was one bookshelf damaged but i didn't notice it until about a week later when all the pile of boxes was gone :( I will gladly recommend these guysto anyone.

Dave, Tim and Steve were punctual, friendly, helpful and conscientious. Our items arrived in perfect condition, were placed where we asked and they even helped move some appliances upstairs. An excellent experience start to finish.

The experience from start to finish was effortless and friendly. I wish more in life went this way! Upon my first visit at the office, Sherry took me on a tour and outlined the storage options and the moving process. The fact that they did both was a REAL PLUS. She gave me an exceptionally fair price for both. We chose a date and she confirmed via phone the day before. She included her mobile number just in case, as this move was earlier than the office opened. Nice touch. The movers, Dave K. and Bill C., called when they were on their way and arrived right on time. I was a little nervous about the move as this furniture piece was large and heavy and requires a tight fit through doorways and down stairs. The two guys couldn't have been friendlier and more professional. Everything went smoothly and without a hitch. No stress. No swearing. Great! They then moved the piece (and all the pieces) into the storage space for me and wrapped it there for safe keeping. I visited the space later that morning and found they had done a fine job. The cost was so fair that I was able to tip them both generously and still be under budget. If ever I have another move to make, I will call Windy City movers again! Side note, Yelp had indicated that the company had closed and that service was bad. I got the story from Dave during the move. The company was indeed closed after 30 years in business. The company was sold and was run poorly. Someone else then "stole" the name and was scamming work for a period of time. The original owner has since regained control (always owned the name) and is back in business. All is well again. :-)

We needed help moving heavy boxes and items into a storage container for shipment to AZ. Windy City Movers said they would be happy to assist us. The movers were slightly late due to unforseen circumstances, but once they arrived everything went smoothly. The movers were extremely professional and pleasant. They were able to complete the task in less than one hour--something that would have taken us alot longer. We were very pleased with the outcome. We definitely would use them again. We highly recommend their services.

This is the third time I've used Windy City Movers and I can't begin to say how wonderful they are. From Sherry (who answers the phone/books the move) to the crews they send....they are just stellar. I LOVED the crew (Dave K, Bill, and Pat) they sent this time around and highly recommend these particular guys. The move was from a garden apartment in Roscoe Village to a second floor condo in Andersonville, so I had both old and new furniture to be moved. They moved the old furniture into the alley and the new furniture to the condo...and managed to do all of this in 90 minutes without breaking or damaging anything/inadvertently tossing away anything/etc.. They even offered to help us move items from our second floor condo down to the basement storage unit once everything was moved into the condo. When we said "No thanks," their response was, "Are you sure? We're happy to do it!" Beyond being efficient, the guys were unbelievably personable. It was raining, it was 8 AM, and they were still cracking jokes and smiling the entire time. And on top of it, they are so reasonably priced it's almost insane. As I said, I've used Windy City Movers 3 times and have always been happy...but this was by far my best experience with them!

The two-man crew was about 30 minutes late, but they performed the job very well once they arrived. I would definitely hire this company again.

THIS MOVING COMPANY SHOWED UP ON TIME AND READY TO GET TO WORK. THEY ONLY HAD TO MOVE THE BOXES AND HEAVY ITEMS AS EVERYTHING ELSE WAS BOXED UP FOR THEM. THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND FRIENDLY.
