Jan at Vanguard Plumbing was great in resolving my issues with the heat of the water in my shower. He was on top and up front with expectations of the condo super, explained what he was doing step-by-step, and noted ,without upsell, the limitations of the existing systems in the condo building. He resolved my issues, despite the issues beyond my unit, in an efficient job call and for the price quoted.

Vanguard is my go to plumbing company. They've been doing work at my residence from installing my sump pump system to other plumbing work. They do a great job and are knowledgeable. Jan always has great recommendations for improvements. I highly recommend the company.

Five stars all the way… I called Vanguard for an estimate on some work in my kitchen and bathroom, and was able to get a free estimate by sending photos which was extremely convenient. I decided to get a second estimate with a competitor but the competitor required an in-person visit and gave a higher estimate. (I was in a hurry and gave the competitor one job same day, but now I wish I had used Vanguard for everything.) Vanguard replaced two faucets including the valves and pipes, fixed my dripping shower, and replaced an additional valve. Jan was very patient and helpful through several emails and phone calls where he explained the work that was needed, he made recommendations, I asked for advice on faucet brands, etc. The day of the job Jan called in advance, was on time, was extremely professional, did a perfect job, and even showed me how to replace an additional part myself if I want to. The final bill matched the estimate as well, I highly recommend Jan and Vanguard!

I've been calling on Vanguard over a number of years now for any plumbing needs in my condo or for our condo building. If you want a job done properly and without taking shortcuts, call Vanguard. Most recently, Jan came out and replaced my hot water heater. The unit had to fit in a narrow space and the gas pipes were in the way. He finished the job in the time and for the cost he quoted. And he was able to fit me into his schedule quickly because he knew I had been without hot water for about a week. Vanguard shows up on time and they are very professional. They explain the work they are going to complete and then they follow through and do it. I will continue to call on them for my plumbing needs.

I got quotes from several places which were significantly cheaper but I will say Jan and his team were worth the price. No one had any idea how to fix my model of toilet (we had an issue with constant water running, and the tank was built into the wall, European style), but Jan looked and knew immediately what was wrong. Within a few hours everything was back to running perfectly. He even found a weakened water line which saved us paying tons of expenses in damages should it have leaked. We would definitely reach out again in the future, they were very professional, communicated clearly and upfront, and did an outstanding job.

The technician from Vanguard accomplished the task exactly as requested. He carefully asked about our previous phone conversations to make sure it was done correctly. In the end, they charged us $150 less than the original estimate!

I was very pleased with the work that Vanguard did in my condo and will certainly call them again for any needed work. Jan was very helpful in scheduling the work and making sure I had the necessary Certificate of Insurance for our management company. George was on-time and went right to work. He fixed my dripping shower faucet (and the faucet handle that kept falling off), installed a new shower head (been meaning to do that) and restored the hot water pressure for my bathroom sink faucet. Any sort of work that requires a water shutoff for our multi-unit building always worries me—it can (and often does) result in sediment clogging feed lines (and pipes!). Realizing that I was very concerned about the water shutoff, George was very reassuring. He explained how he was going to proceed to went through each step of the shut down and water restoration with me. Absolutely beautiful!

Jan was very professional. He communicated promptly by both email and phone. He arrived right on time. He was familiar with the old-style drain in our house and knew how to clean it. He did what was needed, and it now empties perfectly (it was utterly clogged).

If I had known that Jan's copper plumbing was going to be so beautiful, I would have asked him to install it inside the room insted of inside the wall. I spoke to several companies about my project. Vanguard was the only one that found a balance between what I wanted and what my 130 year old house needed. Jan resolved the complicated venting and draining issues and created an elaborate system in my basement bathroom and kitchen which will be invisible and take up no space. Best of all, I didn't have to add another vent out the roof. Jan and his crew were funny, personable and very experienced. They earned my trust with the work they performed and the knowledge they shared. I'd have no trouble recommending them for any size job.

Jan is a rare find in a plumber - he is very detail oriented and can work on even the most complicated and unusual brands (I have a bunch of Sherle Wagner and he is the only plumber I have found who actually can work on these products). I highly recommend him.

Jan and George were fantastic. We needed our old water heater replaced. Due to the unusual layout of our utility room, the size of the old water heater, and the age of the existing piping, this was a complex project. Jan walked through a number of issues during the pre-bid stage to ensure that he was prepped for any and all potential complications with the project. Jan and George then completed the project thoroughly, professionally, and meticulously. They even spotted and repaired additional issues with the gas lines and ventilation and with two of our toilets. I would absolutely hire them again should the need arise.

The bathtub faucets in my bathroom were broken around two months ago, and then I called Vanguard Plumbing and Sewer again to help me to fix it. Jan helped me to set up this project immediately, get a new faucet, and send their plumber to my condo. Their plumber helped to remove the broken one and install the new one very fast. I expected that this project would be finished in one hour. Their plumber finished the project within one hour.
