The actual work I felt was good quality at a fair price ($350). However, contrary to other reviews written here I found Jose? (he never actually told me his name) very hard to work with. We made an initial appointment for a Wednesday morning at 9, via phone/text. I took the morning off work and waited...and waited. When I called (30 min past our appointment) whomever answered offered to reschedule...for 5 hours later. After dashing back from work that afternoon, they did show up and painted the tub (although, some advice, just because I don't look like I speak Spanish does not mean I did not understand every word you were saying when speaking in rather crude terms with your coworker). However, they 'ran out of caulk', and so we made another appointment several days later (I was going out of town) for them to come back and recaulk the tub. I tried to confirm the appointment the night before, took off work again, and again, got a phone call < an hour before our appointment asking if I could reschedule for...6 hours later. I then showed up at the appointed time and waited...and waited...and waited. Someone finally came > 30 minutes late (I almost had to reschedule again) but only when I called to inquire, and then left dirt all over the tub. While I am actually happy with how the tub looks, none of this gave me confidence that if I was unhappy I would be able to do anything about it.

The price was reasonable. They responded very quickly to my request, he was on time, reliable responsible. The one negative was that within three weeks period a crack started to show up in the tile of the refurnished part and he never responded to my phone calls for that. Everything else was great except the follow-up.

They did a really good job. They did everything they said they were going to do, and it was good job. I called them and they have been here twice. They came out in 2 days and did the whole job. Price wise they were in line with everybody else. They explained what they did, they told me how to care for it, what to do and what not to do and if they were any questions, issues or concerns I could call them back and there is a warranty I think for 3 years.

My experience went very well. The staff was professional and friendly while visiting. The pricing was reasonable and I was pleased with the outcome of the service. I would recommend this company to others.

Overall I love it. If a mistake was made, it was my own. I should have made sure I understood the color he was going to use on the tub (there are so many different whites.) Then, I should have used white on the tub and tile. Instead I tried to match what I had which was a Benjamin More color (creamy cameo or something like that.) on the tile. Unfortunately, the color he used (perhaps because of the texture) had a slightly more grey tint but it's very close, which is why I'm sorry I didn't go all white. This was my fault, not his. My advice to anyone who is planning a room change or upgrade is to do your homework. The work Jose did for me was VERY good. He was pleasant to work work and conscientious. I would hire him again in a heartbeat. He was also less expensive then his competitors.

He did an excellent job, Jose was very professional, we are very pleased with how the bathtub looks. It looks brand new.We would definitely recommend his services to our family and friends.

I think most of the stress of the experience is endemic to the bathtub refinishing industry. Everyone, Jose and his employee, were very nice and professional. However, the exhaust fan wasn't very effective at keeping the fumes out of our house. It was a good three days before the fumes were gone. The exhaust line was sent through our bedroom, and even our sheets and pillows had the smell, necessitating washing. There was dust all over the bathroom; I had to clean it literally from the walls down to the floor--everything needed to be cleaned. After the first application, there were so many drips that I had to call Jose, and he returned with the employee, and they both had to sand down the tub and do touch-ups (I'm glad they came to fix it but it required more cleaning and airing out of the house). There was also some paint on the tub fixtures and on the wall. Maybe it just takes more client education about the scope of clean-up; I realized there would be some but not quite to the extent that I had to do. I don't want dust from paint floating around my house or being tracked by shoes (I have little kids). Jose was very nice, and I'd like to give an "A" grade but I just can't.

I was very pleased with the job Carlos did. It cost a little more money because of the extra work he encountered, but I felt he was very fair about the price. ... it was a lot of work. My bathtub looks great. People who have seen it, said he did a wonderful job.

They did a beautiful job and were reasonable. They were dependable and were punctual for the job. They were responsive and easily available. I liked their services and will use the same in future.

Jose worked fast and diligently and even referred me to a plumber that helped with additional problems I had. He was great to work with and was flexible and great to work with.

He did a good job. He accomodated my schedule and was able to get out here pretty quickly. We sold the house and I haven't heard any complaints.

I called for an appointment and told Jose on the phone that I had leak in the bathtub that needed refinishing. He said that was ok he would take care of it. I was planning to repair the leak. He had written the address wrong but called me when he realized he was not at the correct address. He came in and refinished the tub I was not their at the time he left. When I returned a small paper cup was placed under the leak faucet that must of been filled and leaking water before he had finish the job. Around the leak there is a little spot I am not sure if the damage will effect the refinishing job. But I wish the he would told me to have the leak fixed first. I have also noticed a small chip in the tub something must have fallen in the tub and chip off some of the finish. Next time I might just replace the tub.

It was a great experience. Universal was quick to come by and look at the job. We had a quote from them within a couple days and then scheduled the work. They completed the entire project in one week (Mon-Fri) and were very clean and professional. I would use them again in an instant for any other jobs and definitely trust them in my home.

Carlos has helped us on a number of projects including painting, ceiling plasterboard work, and bathroom construction/tiling so I was glad to find his company listed again for tub refinishing. He and his crew are good workers. He did a very professional job of refinishing the old tub in our 1888 home. He is always a pleasure to work with; he comes on time and does the work at a fair price.

I purchased the tile and grout, and Universal did the tile work. I added tile baseboards which weren't part of the original estimate, but it didn't add much to the original quote, and it looks great. Big improvement! Also, Universal refinished our tub. No matter how much I cleaned it, it still looked dirty. Now it looks brand new. The fumes were a bit strong for about 24 hours, but the difference is amazing! They also recaulked around the tub for a nominal fee. For about $1000 ($800 for Universal labor and $200 for the tile and grout) we have a nicely updated bathroom.

Scheduling of the appointment and over the phone estimate went very smoothly. I scheduled several months ahead and they kept track of the appt. efficiently. The workman showed up on time and performed the work and clean up without incident. My only concern was the list of things not to do with the tub to keep the finish in tact, as I would have liked to have known this list upfront. The list includes what cleaning detergents not to use as well as what is acceptable. It also suggested not leaving any soap or bottles sitting on any of the tub surfaces. As this is a rental apt., I cannot be sure the tenants will all comply with the instructions, but so far so good.

Good job at a reasonable price. It has been a year and the glaze has held up well, no chipping or peeling. My only complaint is there was a dusting of paint spray on the tile and faucets, maybe these could have been covered better.

They refinished a porcelain tub, built a retaining box and tiled and refinished the wall and box around the tub.
