The Professionals Moving Specialists

The Professionals were just that. My first experience interacting with anyone at the Professionals was over the phone with Hila who was great. I sent an email and she quickly responded by email and with a followup voicemail. When I called Hila back, she answered addressing me by name before I'd indicated who I was. Very James Bond. The way the Professionals manage their customer calls is great because I never had to repeat myself (why I was calling, where Mom was moving to, etc) each time I called even if I got a different representative. Before move day, I emailed a copy of mom's moving agreement for her new condo building. The new condo association prohibited propping doors open and was very specific about where the moving truck could park, otherwise mom would lose her $200 moving deposit. Because Mom was moving into an elevator building, and we had a specific window when moves could be done at the new building, we scheduled mom's move with the Professionals for morning time slot. The Professionals allow morning appointments to be booked, first come, first serve. If you need a morning appointment, and want the Professionals don't wait or your desired date to move could be delayed by 1-2 weeks. Morning appointments book up FAST. When move day came, our friend saw the truck parked at 7:45am (the window for arrival of the movers was between 8-8:30am) which immediately put me and mom at ease. Victor #2 called me to let me know they had arrived. Upon meeting them in the alley, Victor #2, Alfredo and Juan quickly introduced themselves. They were professional, courteous and prompt. The movers were very helpful and quick when moving the many boxes mom had. They were neat, and super quiet. Fortunately, they already had experience moving into the elevator building Mom was moving to. Just as she promised, Hila had the condo association's moving instructions stapled to mom's moving file for Victor #2 and the guys to reference when they arrived at the new property. I really enjoyed working with this hard working group and would definitely use them again.

We just moved from the city to the burbs and, with a 3 month old baby in tow, it was a stressful time. The crew from The Professionals really helped reduce some of this stress! We were scheduled for an 8am move. The crew showed up at 7:45 ready to go. They got right to work, walking through the house and assessing the situation. I have to admit, we thought we were all packed up and ready to go, but as the move progressed, we realized there were a lot of little odds and ends that weren't really packed well. The crew secured all the loose stuff and loaded it without a problem. We also had a storage unit that we had to stop by on the way to the new house and they were happy to do that and loaded everything from there within 20 minutes. These guys were fast, careful, and friendly. I would definitely recommend them to anyone!

Very good overall experience

The movers from The Professionals Inc. were really good. They were very quick and really nice. They were good at getting everything set up at the end. But they did show up late, but it wasn't the movers fault. It was the person in the offices fault. The movers themselves did a good job. The office staff did not. I also used them about three years ago too. Their prices were low. For the price, they were a really good value. They were a four man crew.

We had a very full two bedroom apartment to move and dreaded not only the packing but the 8-9 hours and thousands of dollars we expected to spend moving despite our destination being only two miles down the street. Instead, Julio and his team showed up early and busted their humps to move us faster than any company I have ever used! They were polite, careful, and fast! Nothing was broken, not a wall was so much as scratched, and this was easily the best experience I have had moving.

This was my second move with The Professionals, and I still highly recommend their services to all my friends. They are very careful, knowledgable about packing and protecting my property, extraordinarily helpful and overall very friendly and pleasant to work with. Moving is stressful, and nothing is ever ready on time, but these guys take it in stride and go the extra mile without hesitation. I always generously tip them and feel its money well spent.

The Professionals had the best price of all of the moving services I contacted. They were prompt - the first company to call me back! When our primary contact Hila was not available via email, Shifra immediately reached out to me and answered my questions. Several days before the move, The Professionals followed up via email and phone. I appreciated their use of a web-based, electronic form service. It streamlined a paper process. I was especially sensitive to this after going through the process of purchasing a home. The day of the move Oscar's crew was fast and efficient. They moved all of our heavy furniture in-town and within the time we had reserved the loading dock at our old apartment. Oscar was not at all intimidating when it came time for a tip - he simply had me fill out a questionnaire and thanked me for doing business with The Professionals. Simple and focused, I highly recommend The Professionals Moving Service.

My boyfriend and I purchased a new home. We were very excited about everything except the moving part. I needed a moving company ASAP. I was able to meet Jacob and Hila from The Professionals. They were awesome and very professional. Jacob was able to meet me onsite for a free estimate. He was straight forward the prices and there were no hidden fees. When I called to set up appointment, Hila made it so easy to schedule. The moving went great. There were there on time and everything went smoothly. At the end, I even paid $100 less than my estimate. WOW! Thank you for making this stressful experience not stressful at all.

The movers (3-man crew) showed up on the scheduled day about an hour early (but that was perfectly fine especially since you are asked to be all packed and ready 2 hours ahead of time). The foreman, Mario, introduced himself and took a walk through the apartment with me to get an idea of everything that needed to be moved. He also went over the main terms of the contract and noted the start time (as they charge an hourly rate). After that the crew started in right away. I was amazed at how quickly they worked to get everything loaded into the truck, especially since this was a 2nd-floor walk-up with narrow wooden stairs. Once everything was in the truck, Mario asked to follow my car to the new place which was about 10 miles away. Once we arrived at our destination, the crew wasted no time unpacking the truck. They reassembled our bed frame and our sectional. They also removed the shrink wrap from all of the large items. After everything was unpacked, Mario gave me the final total and I paid him in cash. The entire move took 3 hours.

I asked for an onsite estimate because I knew my job was out of the ordinary and thought I'd get a more accurate one. Jacob met me and I took him to both sites where I was going to move out of. I shared with him as much information as I thought would be helpful for an accurate estimate. One issue was my large couch which was moved in through a window and I explained that it would have to go out the same way. I received an estimate of $7-900 at $120/hr for 4 men plus a $60 travel fee and other usual charges for shrink wrapping, etc. I had some issues with my move which almost doubled the estimate. The company was responsive and called me to discuss the problem once they learned of it. They offered to honor the original estimate after learning about what happened which is described in more detail below. The crew arrived on time at my studio first. It seemed though that details I discussed during the onsite visit were not shared with the crew leader. When I reviewed the job with him, he was unaware of the issue with the couch or other details about the job. I'm not sure if not having all the info he needed was a problem that put the crew leader in a bad mood, but he didn't seem too happy to do the job, or maybe it was just my job. We did not get off to a great start and I do not think he always dealt with me in the most professional manner. For example, I had tried to deinstall a shelf in my studio that was on the wall. A few screws were stripped and one of the first things I asked if they could help me unscrew the remaining few. I was told by the crew leader a very emphatic "No, I don't do deinstalls or reinstallations." I had not asked him to reinstall anything. All I needed was help undoing a few screws?something most movers in my experience are prepared to do. He said he did not have a drill and I even offered my own tools, but in the end I got someone in the building to help me. That person did it in a few minutes and I was so glad he could. Once the truck was loaded with my studio contents, it was clear there would not be enough room for my apt contents. I did have some materials stored in the basement that added to things, but even if I didn't, my apt contents still would not have fit. As an experienced moving company, I would have expected that would have been foreseen on the onsite visit. That was the first thing that added to the cost of my move. Because the truck was almost full, we had to unload the studio contents first. After doing so, I offered them some time to get lunch before we went to the apt. Even though I was paying for it, the guys were working hard and I thought it only fair. The second thing that added some additional cost was on me: I did not finish packing all my books. I did call the office a day ahead to let them know I would need the movers to help me finish that and they said don't worry, but when I asked the crew leader about it he did not know again and discouraged me from wanting to do it. He said that was a different kind of job and he didn't do packing. It's all moving to me. I asked for a new estmate including the packing, got one, agreed to it, the crew leader bawked, but they did the packing. At the end of the job, he said the new estimate he had given me was wrong. It ended up to be more money. He admitted he made the mistake. I probably could have argued about it. I didn't. When we finished I gave each guy a tip and paid. I just wanted to be done. I have lived in six different states and have moved more times than I would have liked with various experiences with different moving companies from high-end to small local movers. Moving is stressful and the best movers make you feel like you are in good hands and can handle anything within reason. I did not feel this way from the beginning. I have only used this company this one time based on other reviews. I would say these movers are good for hauling and moving an average job with nothing tricky or a lot of items. The rest of the crew worked hard and handled heavy items without complaint. I have not found anything damaged or broken so far. Maybe it was the luck of the draw, or the poor chemistry between me and the crew leader, I'm not sure. I don't consider myself unreasonable or hard to get along with. Some of the additional time which almost doubled the estimate was on me, but not all of it. Personally, mine wasn't the best experience and I would likely not use them again. Keep in mind other reviews have been great (like the ones I read) so maybe mine is an anomaly. My experience definitely contradicted the company's name though.

Very professional. Their company name suits them. We moved from a single story home to a bi-level home. They got to work immediately. The 4 men were kind, patient and very hard workers. I would recommend them to anyone who needs a moving company.

As stated above, I had a very poor experience with move but even more so with the customer service from this company. I posted a yelp review and then started to receive emails from their attorney that was harassing and threatening to me to remove the review. I posted the exact email, whole and true, and not edited of the email I received regarding settling my claim. This is a company that Angie's list has given awards to (or at least they advertise that fact) for certain years and this is very deceiving when this is the type of customer service one would receive from this company. I never received any refund (even in the amount stated in the email I received from their attorney). This company never made any attempts to make things right with me and I was completely disappointed by the actual harassment that then ensued. But before I make a decision to terminate, I have to review the facts carefully. I have to weigh your claims against the employees' statement and the documentation. I also have to consider that, in the moving business, accidents happen and people can err with good intentions and professionalism. Yet destroying 8 pieces of furniture, a wall and leaving furniture out to be stolen is not an accident -- it is purposeful conduct that requires swift action and termination of employment. The Professionals does not offer employment or continued employment to employees who purposefully or even negligently destroy multiple pieces of property. Eight pieces in one move is extremely concerning and will not be tolerated. Regardless, I have to consider all the facts and witness statements. I consider the following: The photos you presented show a cracked television screen. I do not see any other broken items. The elliptical shows a sticker that moved but not a broken elliptical. Your scratches on a sofa or chaise lounge also do not constitute damage beyond use. Your armoire is also not broken or damaged beyond use. Your table is made of glass and steel. The steel is scratched, yet the glass is intact and does not appear broken or beyond use. The wine rack also appears to be functional. I do not see any email wherein you state that any of these other items are no longer functional. I have also reviewed your customer satisfaction report, completed immediately after your move. In it, you gave the movers an "excellent" review on all inquiries. You did not write in the written customer satisfaction report that they damaged your walls, furniture, or that they left furniture outside to be stolen. I also considered the fact that you retracted the claim of theft after your neighbor found your shelving unit. I also consider the fact that no police report was provided to us, despite asking for this. I also considered your initial telephone call and the notations taken concurrently with the call. Initially, you only claimed the broken television. You did not claim that the movers destroyed 8 pieces of furniture, broke a wall and left furniture outside during your initial telephone call. The notes demonstrate that you later added additional pieces of furniture after you expressed disappointment with you contract, wherein you agreed to compensation of 30 cents per pound. The employees reported that you were happy with the move, did not chastise them for their mishandling and gave them each a $50 tip, for a total of $150. They also reported that you asked them to leave the shelving unit outside because you did not want them to disassemble it after it did not fit in the door. I also consider the fact that $150 is a very generous tip in this industry. Based upon the facts, I have concluded that you are entitled to your claim for a broken television at 30 cents per pound. I have also concluded that the termination of the three movers is not warranted. Your claim is $27.90. The Professionals will provide you with this amount. The Professionals has authorized a $100 payment in exchange for a written settlement agreement, wherein you agree to a confidentiality clause, a non-disparagement clause and a waiver of all claims. They did a good job at a good price. Were a bit later than their promised window of 8:00 to 8:30. I have used Golan's in the past, and "The Professionals" did not quite do as good a job, but were substantially cheaper than Golans. (The same job with Golan's would have cost me perhaps $1000.)

The Professionals were indeed very professional. The crew arrived on time, were well prepared and courteous. Their estimate was conservative (they were able to complete the move in less time and cost than estimated). All furnishings were wrapped appropriately, the movers were polite and very efficient. I am completely satisfied by their work and would readily call on them again.

Great! They were fast but careful. They came in under their estimate. They were ontime and we are very pleased with them overall.

I called The Professionals about a week and a half before the move because another moving company that I used previously could not do the work that particular day. I decided to go to Angie's list and look for a mover. There were several that I researched and The Professionals actually suggested that they stop by to do an onsite visit in order to give me the most accurate estimate. Within an hour Jacob (The owner) arrived and we walked my unit. He was very friendly and very knowledgeable. He said he would send me an official estimate once he returned to his office. No more than an hour past when I received an email with a quote. Mind you, I'm a techie and love everything done electronically. They sent me the estimate, I was able to sign and return it electronically. (This is how fast and simple business should be done) Shortly after that they confirmed my moving date and said they would be there by 8:30 the morning of the move. Unfortunately the gas company did not cooperate and I had to postpone the move. I called The professionals immediately and they simply updated my estimate and sent me a new copy of the move order, electronically OF COURSE!!! They're great. Moving day arrives...not only are they on time, they're early. Fantastic!!! The lead mover is waiting from me in the lobby when I return from breakfast. He greets me and introduces the rest of the crew. I show them everything that needs to be moved and without hesitation they start the process. I should say, that this group is definitely for lazy people like me. I had to do NOTHING, I mean nothing. I still had some items that weren't packed up and the guys just grabbed the items boxed them and loaded them up. They were done by noon. The great thing, is I asked them if they needed me at the old place; the lead mover simply said if I have any questions I will call you. I don't think I've ever met a more hardworking crew as these four guys. I'm sad to say that I do not recall their names. They also disassembled my beds, furniture and everything else that needed to be broken down. They wrapped everything including any glass items not packed. Again, they were phenomenal. They arrived at my new place around 12:30 and as fast as they had packed they were even faster at unloading and bringing items to their designated spots. I simply had to direct them to where I wanted everything and they happily obliged. The biggest problem they encountered was my California king mattress which was not very cooperative going up the 4 floors of my new house but the guys did it. Once everything was is in the house they reassembled everything and even removed all the plastic wrap they applied to my furniture. Like I said, this is a company for lazy people. The only thing I had to do is check the truck after they finished, to insure nothing was left on it, pay them, GIVE THEM A GREAT TIP (I hope they thought it was great) and thank them for making my move so easy. So simply put, if you need someone to move you, use The Professionals, ask for an in home estimate (if you have a lot of furniture etc) and tell them you want the crew that Randy Weber had. Now if I could only find someone to unpack all my boxes. :) Oh before I forget, their price was well below some of the other moving companies.

The move was done perfectly. They were very helpful when we got to the destination. You know how there is a change of mind about what goes where. I found them from Angies List and they were the best.

The team was great from the beginning to the end. I spoke with Juliana who provided us with the quote. She was very friendly and extremely helpful. The team was scheduled to come between 8a-8:30a and they arrived around 7:50a which was phenomenal. Mario, Antonio and Eduardo where great. They moved us quickly and placed everything exactly where we listed for them to be placed. The pricing was great and I booked them within 48hrs. of our move and they were outstanding.

They were professional and efficient. They did cause some damage to my furniture, but compensated me for it. They were very prompt with the compensation. They were here on-time and within budget on the estimate.

A 3-man crew arrived early (big plus for a nun), were efficient, patient and handled her possessions with care. They cleaned up, covered boxes with tarp when it began to rain, put up with a rickety and very small elevator. They did a great job all around - it could not have gone better. There was not a single mistake. And they came in slightly below estimate.

While I came in hearing good things about this company, I have a relatively standard in-city move requirement that I was moving from one highrise with a shared loading dock to another highrise with a shared loading dock. My minimum requirement was to coordinate the move times so as to reduce the wait time the moving crew would have, as I would be paying for that wait time. I was even speaking with the owner, Hila Twig. Hila was completely un-accommodating to the fact that I had to coordinate times between two different buildings and I simply could not start a move 1st thing in the morning. I was trying to show her that I was working with the buildings to go around their originally stated moving windows. But, Hila was completely unprofessional in not being able to guarantee me that the movers could show up at a specific time later than the normal 8AM start time The only thing she told me is to see if other companies would do that. Of course I found a company who would be able to help. It is a reasonable accommodation to not start the very 1st thing in the morning. Hila simply could not understand this, no matter how many times I tried to explain the concern. This was horrible customer service on the part of the Professionals and I was forced to go with another company. So, if you are moving between two highrise buildings, beware of this company. They will not work with you.

This was my third move since living in Chicago, and it was by far the best moving experience I have had in ages. They also had the most reasonable price out of all the quotes I requested, $95 per hour, for 3 movers, with a minimum of 2.5 hours plus a flat-rate fee of $47.50 for travel time. My estimate indicated they would get there at 8/8:30 AM; they were early, arrived just before 7:45, but Hugo only charged me from the moment they set foot in my apartment at 8:15. Hugo, Alberto and Cipriano were very friendly and professional; I didn’t feel rushed at all, but we were done by 10! I didn’t have a lot of stuff, but what I have, they treated very well! They used protective wrapping for my bookshelves, even my Ikea coffee table! It was already chipped from a previous move, and I didn’t have much hope that it would survive a second, but I was pleasantly surprised! These guys wrapped my dressers! Once at the new place, Hugo even offered to move the furniture if I didn’t like where I put it. I’ve been recommending them to my friends all week!

They were very prompt, actually arriving roughly half an hour earlier than scheduled and worked promptly to load, move, and unload my things. I did a lot of prep work up front, so the move took less time than estimated - about 3 hours, when they estimated 5. You can save a lot of money by making sure your things are packed and ready to go. They were professional, worked fast, and caused no damage.

They arrived on time (maybe a little early), and took great care in wrapping the larger pieces of furniture. Not a single dish was broken. They provided free wardrobe boxes which I completely forgot about, and that was a huge time-saver for us! I highly recommend them.
