He was really good. He made absolutely no money. He did not charge for the analysis. He saved two elm trees. We were very happy with him. I would use him again.

I discovered a crumbling grey expanse on my very old and beautiful Japanese Elm, and it looked to me like the bark was rotting and spiders were hiding within. Alarmed, I called Care of Trees and Sean came out the following week. He couldn't have been more helpful or professional, and after taking a good look at my tree, he informed me it was in good health and had a good life ahead. I was immensely relieved and, surprisingly, have not been billed for this valuable examination. If I ever have any future problems, I will always call Care of Trees. It seems they really do care.

They did an excellent job from beginning to end even our neighbors were thrilled with the attention to detail and the clean up. We will definitely use this company again.

Great service and responsiveness

Needed info on trees which are physically hitting my house and deck. Found out I will have to have one moved and one removed, but not immediately. I also have to treat the ash for Japanese beetles which I was unaware of.

I recently moved into a house with two very large trees in the yard. Charlie came out to check the health of the trees and recommended having some deadwood removed. I had lots of questions about the health and longevity of the trees, and he patiently answered all my questions. The crew came out and removed the deadwood while I was at work, as well as removed an overgrown juniper at my request. Very pleased with the professionalism and results.

We got a very good output. They are an excellent firm. They are just a very professional organization. They are reliable. They know what they are talking about and it’s been a bad season because of the drought for trees and shrubs all over. They were very knowledgeable about how to prevent more damage to them.

They provided quote, arrived when scheduled and performed services as promised.

Arrived on time as communicated. We were unhappy with the extent of trimming done (we wanted more). They came back and completed the task to our satisfaction. Communicated well about what was doable and what should be done in phases. Excellent overall. Would recommend!!$

The Care of Trees contacts me regularly to make sure we're in agreement on what needs to be done each year. They provide expert opinion on what trees need to be pruned, and when. They show up on time, with the right equipment, and complete the job quickly and without leaving a mess. We've moved once already and still kept them as our tree service, and are going to move again in a few months and will use them at our new place too. Absolutely no complaints about them at all.

They were prompt with both the estimate and the work. They were very knowledgeable and helped decide the best season for trimming. They were quick and careful in their work. They weren't as thorough as I expected, but they cleared enough to be adequate.

I have had no problems. The work gets done.

On March 27, I called The Care of Trees, explained the work that I wanted done. I asked if they gave free estimates. The answer was yes, so I scheduled an appointment for an arborist to come out and look at the tree on April 3rd. The young lady that took my request indicated that Charlie Miller would be the Arborist coming out and that he would call a day or 2 in advance to confirm the appointment. Well, Monday April 2nd rolled around and I had not received a confirmation call. So I called. The young lady that I spoke with said that she would send Charlie an email, but I definitely was on his schedule for the visit on April 3rd. 30 minutes later, I got a call from Mr. Miller. I explained that was just trying to confirm that he would be out as scheduled on Aptil 3rd. He said that he was in the area. He asked me if I would be home because he could take a look at the tree today if that was okay. I said sure. About 30 minutes later, he arrived. He asked me about my concerns with the tree. After taking a look at from all angles, he agreed that I would continue to have issues with the limbs. He explained the process of tree removal. We discussed grinding the stump, but because the tree was located close to a gas line, removal of the stump would have to be done manually. He wrote up an estimate. Based on the information that he provided on how they would cut the tree down, I decided on the spot to have The Care of Trees take care of the removal. The removal of the tree was scheduled for 9AM on April 11th. Mr. Miller stated that he would post no parking signs to provide space for the equipment used to cut the tree down and grind it up. The no parking signs were posted a couple days in advance. The workers removing the tree arrived at 8:30AM on April 11th. They put out orange cones to alert individuals using the sidewalk. They went to work and in less than 2 hours they were done. They cleaned up the tree debris on the sidewalk and in the street. They were extremely efficient. On April 12th, Melissa from The Care of Trees called to find out if everything was okay and if I was satisfied. I said that I was. I could not have been more pleased wiith the way in which this tree removal was handled. I would not hesitate to use this company again.

They are more expensive, but they do really high quality work and are very professional. They have trained arborists to work on the trees so they know how trees grow and how to properly trim and care for them.

Very well. The young lady who answered the phone was very nice and informative. They got someone out in the timeframes I requested to do the estimate. The gentleman they sent was also very personable and knew his job. He was a little apologetic about the price for removal of such a small tree, but there is a minimum when they have to roll the truck. I understood. Wish it was a bit less, that's why I gave them a "B" on price. If I could, I'd give them a "B+" because when all is said and done, I am just so happy it has been handled. I did not have to be home when they took care of the work, either. They just came and did their thing.

They were initially prompt in coming to my home to give me a quote on some tree removal and trimming that I needed. The rep seemed to be knowledgeable enough. I also had issues with some diseased trees overhanging my yard that are in a conservancy area that The Care of Trees is contracted to take care of. They told me they had to get permission from the board that lords over the conservancy. It took weeks of me calling and leaving message after message to get a response. I would leave messages and the rep from the company would not return my calls. They are priced way over and above other tree service companies that I contacted. I finally got fed up with trying to deal with them and got another company to do the work. I never did get the overhanging tree issue resolved as they wanted to charge a ridiculous amount of money for the work; and its work that I feel they should take care of for free being that it is part of the conservancy they are supposed to take care of and its trees that pose a threat to my home! The conservancy is full of diseased trees and trees falling are a usual occurrence. I just saw them in my neighborhood taking down random trees in the conservancy but they don't care about the trees that will hit my house if they fall down! I will never recommend them to anyone.

It went very well. They gave us advice on what kind of tree we might replace it with in the space. They were very good. They were a little more than the other estimates we got but the service was truly excellent.

Care of Trees did an outstanding job, however I almost didn't use them. In the end, I did use them because of their overwhelmingly positive reviews on Angie's list and other places - and because I liked and trusted Shawn Kingzette very much. When I could reach him. And that was the trouble. Shawn is a wonderful arborist and man - he arrived promptly to estimate my project and spent a lot of time with me. He kniew his stuff and was down to earth, knowledgeable, and nice - he also said that I'd get an approximate work date because anything can change in the tree business due to weather and circumstances. I understood and was delighted with him and the company. I said anything can happen with weather, but I'd like the date confirmed a few days before the appointment -- if possible -- so I could take a vacation day - or cancel a vacation day if Care of Trees had to reschedule. He said he thought that was possible. Shawn said I needed written permission from both neighbors to have work done on their property and that the work could not be scheduled until he had the permissions in hand. I agreed to get them quickly. It was August and I was worried about the tree limbs that were threatening my main power line and hitting my home's new gutters and downspouts. Plus squirrels had jumped from the limbs onto my house and chewed through several screens trying to get inside. Between this and the neighbor's attitude, it couldn't wait too long, especially with the wild storms we'd been having. Shawn spent more than an hour with me and we had a great discussion, but I didn't think to ask if he had a permission form. He gave me his cell and said not to hesitate to call. A few days later I thought he must have a permission form or at least sample language I could use, so I called and left a message. After a few more days he hadn't called back, so I called again. Unfortunately, this became a way of life for us - me calling and Shawn not callng back. I did talk to him once and he said that, yes, he had a permission form and would email it that evening, but I didn't get it. I called again after a few days. Still no form. Finally, I left a jokey message saying that I understood he must be busy with big jobs and was probably up in a tree at that very moment. I said I understood that mine was a small job, but we'd had some bad storms, the tree had dropped limbs that were threatening my power lines, the squirrels were advancing, etc. If I could get the form, I could move my tree project along another step. Altermately. if he couldn't fit the job in, that was ok, but I needed to know so I could find someone else. He called and sent me the form the next day. It had taken more than a week, maybe even 10 days. I got my neighbors' signatures and returned the signed forms to Care of Trees in another 10 days. The work was scheduled for Oct 21, with the caveat that the date could change if weather or other circumstances required. The week of Oct 21 I called the office to see if the date was still good. They said I was scheduled for Oct 21, but I'd have to ask Shawn if the date was still good. I called, but got no response until I left a message at the office the night of Oct 19 saying that I needed to know if I should take the day off --and if they couldn't do it, I'd like to try someone else because I was afraid the tree was going to take out some wires. Shawn called Oct 20 and gave me Allan Matthew's name and number, who he said would be handling the work crew. He also called Allan asking that he call me. I called Allan, but didn't hear back until about 9pm the night before the work was scheduled. By then I'd called the office again, I think Shawn may have sent me an email, etc.. I felt like a pest, but on the night before the scheduled work, I needed to know if it was going to be done or not. I was able to take the day off from work and the work was completed. I cannot tell you how happy I was with the work - and with the kindness and professionalism of the crew. They werwe wonderful - nice men who did excellent work, in fact a superb job.. The neighbors loved it too. Ultimately, I was delighted with the work and, yes, I would use Care of Trees again. However, I think they need to use their office staff more effectively to work with clients on scheduling notifications. And they should have told me they had a permission form and given it to me immediately - or sent it - since they require it. These are minor things that could have been handled by 2 brief calls or emails by someone in their office, however I almost cancelled the work because I was afraid it might have been as slipshod as some of their client relations had been. Shawn and the other men in the field obviously have limited access to phones, computers, etc.. In short, Care of Trees needs to remember that their business also involves Care of Clients and shouldn't rely on someone who is out in the field to take care of minor details that could easily q**** a deal. How do I feel about Care of Trees now? I feel I was treated as if I were a difficult client, when I wasn't. I was patient with them and let many days go by before calling again. I didn't complain and my requests were reasonable: I wanted the correct wording for the permission so I didn't have to do it more than once - and the week of the planned work, I wanted to know if work would be executed as planned since I'd been told the date might change.. I'm sorry to be the one person who complains about Care of Trees. If I hadn't liked Shawn so much and if I hadn't read all their great reviews, I would have looked for someone else. Their price was 1/3 more than other bids I got, but I wanted a perfect job and I had great confidence in Shawn despite his inability to return calls. They're very good, definitely worth the money -- perfect, except when it comes to communication. Sometimes you have to trust your instinct and go with something even when it seems flawed - and that's what I did. Of course now that I've written this review, they may not want me as a client --.they'll nod their heads and agree that I'm difficult. I'm here to tell you -- it wasn't me. It was Care of Trees. It may have been an aberration, but it was definitely Care of Trees.

They did a great job. Removed all of the debris. The tree looks better than it ever has

I worked with them in the past on a different project that I had. I liked that they were extremely professional, extremely honest, very matter of fact. It is ongoing, so I don’t have a figure in terms of the price.

They arrived earlier than they had originally scheduled because they had an opening in their day. (They called ahead to be sure this was possible). The arborist arrived with the crew and reviewed the work plan with me. We made some modifications on the spot. The crew proceeded efficiently and politely and did an excellent job. I was very pleased with how natural their results looked. The work area was cleaner when they left than it had been when they arrived.

This is the second time I've used this tree service company and can highly recommend it for service and results. Every three to four years our backyard red maple needs a trim. This year I called and again Evan (a certified arborist) came out to our tree and evaluated its health and we discussed the direction of branches, some need to be brought away from the house, others away from electric lines and so on. When you discuss a tree with him you can tell - he cares about trees. Their schedule was in about three weeks (their work load was heavy due to recent storms). The crew came, did the work quickly, with expertise and care. They cleaned up all the branches, blew away leaves, leaving the yard clean. They, like Evan were friendly. Our pruned tree looks beautiful. Happy with their company.
