The Appliance King

I called Appliance King for repair of my wash machine as well as my freezer. The technician was on time, he was friendly, honest and took his time to explain what was wrong (which turned out to be nothing with my freezer). He provided tips on how to maintain the appliances and told me to call back if I had any additional questions. I would definitely recommend this company.

He checked everything and said it was fine, but when I went to use it it was dry, and dirty. I never called back because I had other emergencies going on. And medical issues.

They were professional about declining the job, and gave me the Maytag number. Since I know the Maytag machine has had recalls, I did not take issue with their response. And Angies List refunded me the money for the deal.

I left a message, and they called back promptly. I was offered several appointment choices which were convenient for me.

I write this as a heads-up to all SubZero and Viking owners out there. Don't call Appliance King. I am told those brands are too high-end for them to handle; told me to call the manufacturer. Okay. All well and good. Glad they called back and cancelled me in a timely fashion. My only puzzlement is over the fact that not long after moving in this house I called The King for an issue with this same fridge. He came out and fixed it. Even left an Appliance King sticker in the unit's door jamb. I actually called him back for a different issue with the fridge a couple of years later and also asked him to look into the one or two burners which were then malfunctioning. He fixed the fridge but then said something odd about, nah, you don't want me to work on the stove. I was too stunned to challenge him on that notion so I paid him and sent him in his way without clarification. Fast forward to today's little adventure. Now he doesn't want to handle either one. Gosh, I can't imagine it was anything I had said! We had had an otherwise friendly interaction. But this is kinda weird.

THIS is how an appliance repair company SHOULD be run! I contacted them and explained the situation. At first they said that they would need to send a technician out to assess the situation so we set up an appointment. Later that week, they called back asking for a bit more information and from that they could determine the nature of the issue. They wanted to save the amount of time this would take so they pre-ordered the needed part and sent it along with the technician. On the day of the service call, the technician arrived about 5 minutes early (I love that!) and he checked things out before installation. One thing that really impressed me was when he asked the age of the refrigerator and then asked if I had been informed about the price of the part (which I had) because he wanted to make certain that I wanted to spend that money on a refrigerator that had some age behind it. He seemed genuinely concerned, but when I said yes we used the dispenser quite a lot, he immediately replied, "well then that's what we will do!" Within 10 minutes he had the project completed and had cleaned any mess that he might have made (although I did not see him work, so I have no idea how messy anything was). Aside from the now fixed lever, my kitchen looked as if he had never been there. I have had to deal with other major appliance repair companies in the past, and I cannot stress enough how impressed I was with the Appliance King.

The repair man was on time and worked quickly. I have only two issues: 1) I had two repairs and was charged for the service call twice, though they only came once. 2) The door on the fridge did not close completely after repairman left and I called. Phone person said repair man would call--he didn't. The door resoved itself.

I called them & spoke to Leslie before purchasing the Big Deal. They said they would service my 5-Star Oven so I purchased the Deal. I called a few months later & spoke to the same person after the purchase and they told me they no longer service 5-Star Ovens! They offered to use the Big Deal on a different appliance but I didn't need that. I'm getting a refund from Angie's List. They were very pleasant to talk to but, it was all just a little bit confusing.

They always provide perfect service. I have been using them for years.

The first time the serviceman came, he didn't have his oven thermometer. He came back the next day with the thermometer and recalibrated the oven. He was very nice.

The repairman came and found out that the electronic component needs to be replace. He said he will find out how much the part costs and call us back. we never receive that call. We finally called two weeks later and found out the cost of the part almost cost the same as a new dishwasher. We decided to not to buy the part. The company suggested that we pay them $40 and get the refund from Angelist since the service was not really fully completed.

Chris King checked out our Sub-Zero refrigerator, cleaned the coils, etc. and tested for freon. Because he does not recharge refrigerators, he referred us to someone who does. King charged us nothing because "I did not fix it." We had to force some money on him, along with a six pack of beer.

The pleasant gentleman came out the first time to fix the problem that the broiler and temp control does not work on my Caloric stove. He came, looked at the problem then sold me parts at significantly over $100...don't have the cancelled check handy. He reminded me that I was getting a great deal due to my Agie's list opportunity. He assured me that my broiler and stove were working fine with the new parts. I don't remember the date exactly. It was about a week later when I invited my family to enjoy the Omaha steaks we received for Christmas. The broiler did not work and the oven did not get particularly hot. I called Appliance King for a follow up service call expressing that having to take more time from work didn't please me. The same repairman came out the second time, and I said it was tough for me to take more time from work, he said "I am losing money on this, this has now taken THREE calls and I should charge you again. (When I inquired why THREE calls, he said he came early in case I was home early then returned when I wasn't here. He then rsaid I did not know how to operate my stove (which had been working fine as long as I have been in this unit.) He said we needed to leave the broiler door open a bit to broil. He turned on the broiler, and when I said it wasn't very hot, he said that heating up takes t Every member of my family has tried to use the broiler using two knobs. The broiler does not function at all and everything I put in the oven takes twice normal to cook. I spent money on the deal and the parts, took off from work twice and was not treated well . My problem is still there. Please advise.

Start to finish. Are you kidding?

They do not work on the appliance that I need fixed so I requested a refund.

We were vey happy with the service and will use the company again for appliance repairs.

Everything went very well - the support staff was very helpful (as I gave all the information including part info Maytag's serviceman provided when the self cleaning stopped working). The staff's recommendation of coming out first instead of purchsing parts, etc, worked out very well. The Big Deal included a 2nd visit if needed. However, the repair was quick and we didn't need another visit - we're very happy! Thank you!!!

It went fine. The repairman was extremely professional and informative. My oven had not been heating properly and also burning things and he was able to adjust the temp. dial so the dial matched the stove temperature. He also corrected my positioning of the oven thermometer so I'd get correct readings. Furthermore, he said if it continued to act up, I should get a new thermostat, looked up what kind and how much it cost and gave me a quote. If I decide to do that, I will not have to pay an add'l service call fee. So I was very happy with the way it went.

When I called to schedule I was learned that where I needed the services performed was outside of their service area. I contacted Angie's List and was promptly issued a full refund.

After he left, the water line leading into the kitchen was dripping down over and out of the fridge. I turned off the water myself and waited. Never heard back from them. Nothing. I would expect Angie's List to do the right thing and get me my money back. I ultimately called Abt about four weeks later and had, while more expensive, a stellar experience. It was good enough that I'll write a review for their service.

He was polite, early and really knew his stuff. He was in and out in less 20 minutes. The Appliance King has a new customer.

Dryer stopped heating--immediately diagnosed and repaired (inexpensively) the problem (faulty valve)

We used a Big Deal coupon, so it was relatively inexpensive. He was very fast (I think he was a bit overscheduled that day), but it certainly did not feel like he was cutting corners. The oven was fixed and it has been working great for three months now, so we have no complaints at all.

The process began really well. They were pretty flexible with their scheduling and even called a couple days before the appointment to see if I wanted them to come sooner since they had cancellations. Upon arrival they diagnosed the problem and fixed it. The repair took took about 30 - 45 minutes. After paying I was told that I would receive an invoice via email but I only received a signed receipt of my payment to them. I called a couple times for the invoice. Ordinarily the invoice would not matter since the problem was resolved and seemed pretty simple, although my payment for the service was much higher than their listed hourly rate & service charge. I still have no idea why I was charged so much more and for this reason I had to give them a lower rating.
