 + -1 moreThe main office did not communicate well with the repairman or with us, and neither provided a price estimate. They seemed unprepared to complete the required service and their schedule was overbooked. Also, one of the people I spoke to in the office sounded annoyed when I called and complained that "she only worked there one day a week," and she'd have to call back.
Description of Work: Our refrigerator wasn't cooling properly, so we contacted Appliance King. After explaining the issue on the phone, they said they could come the next afternoon. The repairman came during the scheduled window and was able to diagnose the problem quickly, but then said he didn't have the proper part. (The issue was a broken defroster heater, apparently a fairly common occurence). After making a temporary repair, the repairman said the soonest he could come back with a new part was in 5 days (they don't do service calls on weekends). When I called the company to reschedule the follow-up, I again was told there was no availability for 5 days. Being unable to wait for 5 days, we called another company and they were able to send someone to replace the part the very next day. We then canceled the Appliance King follow-up, but to our surprise, the Appliance King repairman showed up a few hours later unannounced and was surprised to hear our refirgerator was already fixed. His office had failed to relay the cancellation to him. $129 payment was for service call and hour of labor for temporary repair.

 + -1 moreOur clothes dryer suddenly stopped working and I called this company because of the "A" rating. On the phone, the rep said it would be $49.00 just to come out to check the appliance. Repair man arrived within the window given. He noticed the dryer was plugged into a power-strip and after a few seconds found the power strip was broken and the dryer worked fine after plugging right into the wall. That cost $20... a total of $69.00 for 3 seconds of work. He jokingly mentioned that the company wants him to say something like "the motor is broken and charge you thousands of dollars" and I said "you wouldn't do that because you're honest, right? Plus you would never get a thousand dollars from me." He goes into some lame, basic appliance tips that are common sense - I guess to make himself feel better about doing nothing. If I was not standing next to him the entire time he was in my home, I think he would have pulled a scam. I don't trust this company.

 + -1 moreGreat response. Same day service. I got good advice on general maintenance of the washing machine he repaired in addition to his having quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem. Gotta love good service from friendly, smart people, and the Angie's List coupon made it even sweeter.
Description of Work: Washer not working, got an error code indicating a blocked line. The external part of the hose was clear. Steve opened and cleared out a clogged internal water filter in a front-loading washer.

 + -1 moreCalled them on Sunday after I noticed that the fridge was not functioning. They called back a couple hours later and scheduled a service call for Monday morning. The technician communicated well about his arrival time, was punctual, and very helpful. The computer on the fridge had to be replaced, and he had the part in his truck. 15 minutes and he was done, great work, and very friendly.

 + -1 moreTheir web site said they were open on Saturdays (9:00AM-1:00PM) and serviced all major brands. I called at 10:30am on a Saturday and left a detailed message, including the brand, model, and the error code for a problem with my LG washer, and asked if they could please call me back. They called me back Sunday evening, and said they did not service LG appliances. While I appreciate the call back, it was too late to arrange other repair firms over the weekend, so wife or I will probably need to take time off from work to meet a repairman. Just please put it on your web site that you don't work on LG appliances, and save both customers the hassle of calling, but also save the company from having to call back non-customers.

 + -1 moreI called the Appliance King the next morning and he was able to come that day. He looked at my oven and explained that the ignitor had gone out. He explained the problem and my options. The Appliance King explained that I did not need a new oven, I had him replace the ignitor (he had a new one with him) and he was able to replace it immediately. My oven has been working wonderfully ever since. I was so satisfied with his work that I then showed him two other minor issues one with my microwave and one with the stove and he fixed them as well. The appliance King was friendly, timely, helpful, very reasonable and the work was of the best quality.
Description of Work: My oven stopped working while I was cooking, the door opened, made a bang sound and it smelled of gas.

 + -1 moreCalled the main office and spoke to Leslie. She was friendly very helpful and when I explained what the problem was. She called the tenant to arrange the date and time for Chris to look at the appliances as well as get information regarding make and model of washer and stove. Chris arrived on time and completed the work as requested. He was very friendly and professional. The tenant was very pleased that he finished the work in a timely fashion. His fee for working on the appliances actually came under what the original quote was which made me happy. I would certainly use this company again.
Description of Work: Tenant stated that timer on washer didn't work, it wouldn't move through the cycles like I was supposed to and it was leaking. There also was a problem with the electronic ignition on one of the burners on the stove. It wouldn't light the burner immediately when you turned on the gas.

 + -1 moreEverything went very well. He was here in the time frame that we'd been promised; he was efficient, quickly figuring out the issue and repairing it. He was courteous and also very clean; there was no mess at all. We'd be happy to call them again if we need another appliance repair.
Description of Work: Our dryer had stopped drying. The repairman checked the vent first, which was clean and working efficiently. He cleaned the inside of the dryer, which was needed, and found a faulty gas vale coil assembly which he replaced.

 + -1 moreActually, everything about this service was WONDERFUL except the billing from the actual man who came to do the repair. I think he just forgot what the coupon from Angie's List said. So, he charged me wrong, but I just called the company up and she was very quick to correct the price. It felt very easy and trusting. The repair person actually called 1 hour prior to the time he said he would be there and I couldnt be there at that time, so he was very flexible and went to another repair job first. Then, when he called to let me know he was on his way, my cell didn't ring and I called him about 1/2 hour later. He graciously waited for me to get there. And when I did arrive, he was very personable and said, "It happens". He quickly checked out the washing machine and said it was fine but that he could clean out the pump since he was already there. The price was VERY good! I appreciated his advice on how to run it and keep it clean and in good condition.I would certainly use these people again!

 + -1 moreThe turntable in the microwave had not turned since the day we purchased our condo, nearly 6 years ago. It was one of those repairs we never got around to scheduling, mainly b/c the microwave worked just fine. Also, I imagined that the price of getting someone to actually make a house call and "fix" the micro would come close to actually purchasing and installing a brand new micro. I am happy to say I was wrong! We decided to get it fixed b/c we were moving to a new house and renting out our condo. We figured we might as well get everything fixed at once so the new renters would have a great experience. We found Appliance King on Angie's List, gave them a call and they came out the same week. The repairman diagnosed the problem, ordered the part and returned to install the new motor: all for less than $300. We definitely will use Appliance King again. Love them. :-)

 + -1 moreEven though they came after the original time range given I had no problem with that since they called several times with status updates so I was able to stay out doing errands. The guy who came out was in the owner's family and seemed very knowledgable about appliances. He respected our house and replaced the ignitor in the oven and checked to make sure the oven worked. He had an ignitor in his truck so he was able to replace it on the initial visit. He also gave us some tips on how to get our dishwasher to last longer. Very nice and respectable. Used the oven a few times since then with no issues.

 + -1 moreMy dryer wasn't staying hot. I called Appliance King and they sent Chris the repairman out two days later (fine as I wasn't in a rush). He was super polite, cleaned out the exhaust duct from the dryer, made sure venting was correct, and quickly fixed the problem, which was a gas valve that needed to be replaced. Total time was less than 30 mins. I used the Angie's list coupon to save some money also which was great. A very positive experience.

 + -1 moreWoke up one morning to find that not only was my fridge not cold, it was warm. In fact, sticks of butter had completely melted and run down the back of the inside. I did my own internet research and concluded that the condenser was bad. Upon researching a little more, I concluded that the motherbaord was fried. Well, I am not fridge fixer so I called Appliance King based on Angie's reviews and proximity. They came out two days later (they could have come sooner but my schedule didn't work). I explained all my theories to Steve. He listened and as I mentioned that sometimes the light switch didn't seem to work, I could see his aha moment. With three bulbs and the light switch not always working, the switch hadn't turned the lights off and all night long the bulbs heated up everything. He promptly replaced the switch and all is good as new. I explained that I had been afraid of having to buy a new fridge since my dishwasher had just quit. He gave me some very good, unsolicited, advice about what to look for in a dishwasher. Overall, very happy.
