Paul was very fast getting the quote mailed to me. The price was good. I chose a different Angies list contractor because I wanted metal flashing around the chimney and Paul quoted ''modified bittumen and caulk''. (I did not mention that when I requested the quote.) Contractor selected was the low bid.

MR. TANSEY WAS RESPONSIVE, SHOWED UP WHEN HE SAID HE WOULD, & PERFORMED THE WORK AT A REASONABLE PRICE. I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM TO PERFORM ANY TYPE OF ROOFING WORK.

Excellent! Paul returned my call promptly, and Tim was out the very next morning. Over the phone, Paul guessed that this type of repair would run $260-$320. It turned out to be much less! Tim tried several times to find the tiny source of the leak until he found it. Another company had looked for the cause and didn't find it--had I used the other company I would have spent a lot more money and not had the problem fixed!

Our association chose Tan's, not only because of high marks on Angie's List for quality and customer service, but also because they were about half the cost of another highly recommended roofing company. Both provided virtually the same warranty (12-yr warranty materials; 7 yr labor) and differed mainly on materials. Paul Tansey (the owner) was extremely polite, honest and responsive whenever contacted (usually within a day) and his guys were there bright and early every day, even in the worst cold this winter. Even when an owner discovered some silver emulsion drops on his car, Paul took care of the problem professionally, and most importantly, personally. There did seem to be a bit of waste material that blew off of the roof and we had to clean up...but certainly not a deal-breaker.

Paul was a pleasure to deal with. He was not the cheapest, but I trusted him the most. He was very friendly and professional, fulfilled his promises (project done and completed on time). Paul came out quickly after we called him. I like the way he explained the whole roofing procedure. Also, he was not pushy about his services, he even encouraged us get more estimates and told us what to look out for with roofers. My only complaint was that I wish his crew cleaned up just a little better. I'm sure he would have taken care of it if I had mentioned it. I did not bring it up. Now I know better. I highly recommend his services.

Great experience. Paul Tansey returned phone calls promptly, came on time for the estimate, explained things in understandable terms, answered questions honestly, and charged us much less than other companies quoted. Would definitely use him again.

Outstanding. Super-responsive & prompt. Took a lot of time to show & explain the process, choices, etc. The roof and parapet walls need to be replaced entirely, and Paul originally gave a very competitive quote for that work. However, it was still more than we could afford. Without blinking, Paul gave a quote for the absolutely essential work to be done, and then modified it to keep it under $1,000. Paul was honest, responsive, prompt, and did quality work. We will use him again when the time comes to tear off & replace the roof.

I'M GOING TO USE THEM AGAIN FOR THE MAIN BUILDING. THEY WERE VERY HELPFUL, AND UNDERSTANDING. THEY DIDN'T TALK DOWN TO ME. THEY WERE PROFESSIONAL, CARING, LISTENED TO WHAT I HAD TO SAY, AND EXPLAINED EVERYTHING TO ME.

Very thorough job. They took care to inspect entire gutter system of our three unit condo building. They replaced any worn pieces, and took care to do quality work. Very punctual, and Paul Tansey was very thorough in his communication. I will use them every year.

I was THRILLED with them. When we bought house in 1999 the roof was less than 2 years old so every inspector said 'oh no trouble with the roof for 20 years' but we had endless leaks because previous owner had workmanship done by two idiots in an alley (my description). My general contractor managed to stay ahead of it and then stopped doing roofing. Mr. Tanzi was courteous, worked with me, assessed the problem, and an hour after his worker looked over the entire roof and talked to me about all I saw inside, he faxed me a copy of his license and insurance, and a contract which I signed and faxed back. The next day it snowed. I was worried about getting water in the house. Mr. Tanzi moved me to the top of the list because I had leaks and was very tolerant of my many calls worrying about water getting in and weather. I told him that they should LOOK FOR other things while they were up there, so final price was higher than estimate but for good reason and I approved it.

Our roof leaked during one of the biggest snow hits of the season, thus far. At first (prior to joining Angie's List), I couldn't find a roofer to save my life, because everyone else with a flat roof in the city was having the same problem. I joined Angie's, found Paul, and he called me back within an hour. I couldn't have been more thankful. First of all, his responsiveness amongst chaos was excellent. His calming demeanor helped me under my stress. He knows what he's doing, took the time to explain it all patiently, was very professional, and had it all done within just two days....he even cleared snow off the roof at night in 20 degree temps!! He's honest. He gave me a quote, the actual work came in under what he quoted, he called me and told me to deduct the percentage from my bill. I have already recommended him to others and will definitely use him again should the need (hope not!) arise again. Also, he's just a really nice guy. Thanks, Paul!!!

Paul was extremely professional and responsive--he came out and got up on the roof the same day I called him, took pictures so I could understand the problem, and sent a detailed proposal that was half the cost of the other companies we'd checked with. When weather delayed the work, he kept me posted on when he thought the job would be done; he and his employees then came and did it all on a bitterly cold Saturday. He followed up with me by phone and e-mail to make sure everything was satisfactory. I would definitely hire Tan's again, and highly recommend Paul and his crew to anyone with roofing needs.

I WAS IMPRESSED ENOUGH WITH PAUL WHEN HE FIRST CAME TO ESTIMATE, SO I DIDN'T FEEL IT WAS NECESSARY TO GET OTHER ESTIMATES. IT HASN'T RAINED SINCE HE DID THE WORK, BUT I'M SURE IF THERE WOULD BE A PROBLEM, THAT HE WOULD STAND BEHIND HIS WORK AND FIX IT.

VERY PROFESSIONAL, VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE, HAD ALL THE PAPERWORK IN ORDER & VERY FLEXIBLE TO FIT ME IN SCHEDULE. SEEMS TO BE FIXED AS OF NOW, BEEN 4 DAYS.

MY ONLY DISAPPOINTMENT WAS THAT THE WORKERS THAT HE SENT TO COMPLETE THE PROPOSED WORK NEGLECTED TO REPAIR OUR GARAGE ROOF, WHICH WAS INCLUDED IN THE INITIAL ESTIMATE. HOWEVER, WHEN I CALLED PAUL TO ASK HIM ABOUT THE GARAGE, HE APOLOGIZED PROFUSELY & CAME THE NEXT DAY TO MAKE THE REPAIRS HIMSELF.

PAUL TANSEY KNOWS HIS STUFF. I GOT AN ESTIMATE ON WEDNESDAY, THEY DID THE TEAR OFF & UNDERCOATING THE NEXT DAY. TWO DAYS LATER, THEY FINISHED THE REST OF THE JOB. QUICK, PROFESSIONAL, & AT A REASONABLE PRICE. THEY DID MY NEIGHBOR'S ROOF & WERE EXTREMELY CLEAN. THIS CREW WAS GOOD, BUT NOT AS THOROUGH AS THE CREW THAT MY NEIGHBOR HAD. THAT'S THE ONLY THING HOLDING ME BACK FROM A STRAIGHT A RATING. OTHER THAN THAT, WHICH IS MINOR, THEY DID A GREAT JOB.

I FOUND TAN'S QUALITY ROOFING VIA ANGIE'S LIST. ONCE AGAIN, I AM PLEASED WITH ANGIE'S REFERRAL! OUR ROOFING JOB WAS A COMPLICATED ONE, ESPECIALLY WITH 2 TEAR-OFF ROOFS. PAUL TOOK ALL THE TIME NECESSARY TO DISCUSS THE JOB WITH ME & EDUCATE ME WHERE NECESSARY. A BIG PLUS IS THAT HE WAS ON SITE OFTEN & HE DID ALOT OF THE ROOFING. WITH A BIG JOB LIKE OURS, YOU CAN EXPECT KINKS & THEY HAPPENED. PAUL RESPONDED QUICKLY & ADDRESSED ANY CONCERNS TO MY SATISFACTION. THEY WERE NOT OUR LOWEST BID NOR OUR HIGHEST BID. A BIG FACTOR FOR US WAS HIS EXPERIENCE & HIS LITERALLY WORKING ON THE JOB. THE NEW ROOFS WERE TESTED WITH HEAVY RAINS & THEY STOOD THE TEST WONDERFULLY. PAUL SINCERELY IS EXPERT IN HIS TRADE, & HE HIRES PEOPLE HE LIKES TO WORK WITH & RESPECTS. WE ARE HAPPY WITH THEIR WORK, & IT IS WITH GREAT SATISFACTION I SHARE THIS BECAUSE THE JOB WAS SO HARD & COMPLICATED. I WILL DEFINITELY WORK WITH THEM AGAIN.
