I requested an estimate on re-siding two triangular gables (one above the garage and the other near the house roof line). Later the same day I received a call that an estimator would be in the area and could assess the job, if I would be home in the afternoon. This seemed like an exceptionally prompt and efficient response, so I was initially well disposed toward the company. After arriving and examining the damaged, old aluminum siding, the estimator asserted that either the job would need to be done in white aluminum (the original siding was colored a rusty red) or a shift to vinyl siding was required. I posed varied questions to learn the rationale for this claim. The estimator offered no sales presentation; arrived with no samples of siding (aluminum or vinyl); provided no description or systematic exposition of siding quality or company work practices; and refused sharing even a ballpark price by the end of his visit -- instead insisting that I await a written quote. He was verbally disorganized, apparently unfamiliar with leaf guard gutters, and sometimes downright confrontational. He made assertions that on the face of them seemed arbitrary, then I needed to follow with questions to learn the underlying reasons for the claim/s. The estimator was even sarcastic and abrasive at times. I neither trusted nor liked him. He produced an email bid $800 higher than one from a competing firm with whom I eventually contracted. When I eventually connected with one of the co-owners to complain the next day, Paul modified the bid by $300 and delivered a sample of the proposed vinyl stock to the house for my consideration. While Paul was responsive and apologetic, the damage was done. Moreover, the revised bid remained $500 higher than one eventually offered by another highly rated Angie's List contractor. I believed a more constructive working relationship was likely with another firm. Overall, the bidding process itself was an unpleasant experience.

Paul Tansey came to our home in august of 2009 and gave me a quote for a new roof. After getting 2 more estimates, we decided to go with Tans Quality Roofing. The roofers arrived on time and the work was completed in a timely fashion. Paul came out to make all was well with the completed work. We still had an issue with some pooling water and they came out and corrected the problem within days. We were very pleased with their response to our issue. Fast forward to the following summer where we noticed another issue with the roof. Paul promptly came out again and after several discussions we decided on what additional work needed to be done. Aside from a slight misunderstanding which was quickly rectified, Tans Quality Roofing honored our contract and was very quick to address all of our concerns.

The experience was great from start to finish. We called for an estimate and they were out within a day. We got our estimate right away and they performed the work as soon as we could schedule. They showed up right on time, worked very professionally and cleaned everything up. This is a great compay and we would definitely use again if we needed any roofing work done.

The repair they did actually worked. I got to know about them through our neighbors. We live on a house which has separate foundations but they are sort of right up against one another. There is a flat roof over both parts. We convinced our neighbors to have a flat roof done. My neighbors are as satisfied with them as we are. We are very satisfied with the work they did. The neat thing about them is that they took photos of the roof and all the problem areas. We have been living in this house for about 19 years and the roof was about ready to be replaced. We contacted many roofing companies and all had to say the same thing. They told us that the roof was about to go off. The different solutions they gave us were all different considerably, but we found that Tans were the best. They were very professional. They worked with us on various things. We asked them to break up the cost of the repair of the area that had damage so that we could claim it through our insurance company, and they did that properly. They really facilitated in getting our insurance sorted. We found it very helpful that they took pictures so that we could submit those to the insurance guys. We have a peak roof with shingles which they repaired. There were a number of things we had to work out on. It was a pretty complex job. They brought a large crew out and cleaned up remarkably well at the end of every day. You would never have guessed that the roofing work was done that day. They were really professional. The people were well supervised. We also had an inspection done and they came over and they did everything that was to be done. They were very responsive and well organized. They were the best. They were neither the cheapest nor the most expensive. We found that the method they proposed to take care of the problem were the best. They worked it out very well. The reason for what we hired them was finally taken care off. The things they used were of good quality and they did a quality job as well. They showed up right on time and left pretty much at the time they said they will. We have recommended them to our neighbors as well. They are very satisfied with them as well.

They responded promptly from the estimate to the actual work day. They even did some work on another gutter area which was beyond the work contracted. They sealed a seam and re-hung the gutters. Always courteous and professional. After a good rain we had no more water spilling through the walls.

They were very responsive and sent over a contract within a week of them coming out. I'm considering other roofers before I make my decision, but they were puntual, professional, and had great customer service.

This company is fantastic. They were always available to contact, came when they said they would, did what they said they would. The workers were polite and cleaned up everyday and they always checked in with me if there were any changes needed. Very very professional. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

They were great from start to finish. Even in terms of the couple of minor questions that came up at the end, they went above and beyond the call of duty to get it done right and in a way that made us happy. I would use them again in a minute, without hesitation.

They need to send out people with more roofing expertise to bid the jobs. Very professional on the meeting set up and there was a follow up email after I replied to the quote that not only was their price high, but the person they sent out just did not have much experience with roofs or was a poor communicator and chose not to convey his expertise.

Outstanding. They estimated, setup a date, showed up when they said they would, performed quality work (I had a another roofer check it out), and they finished when they said they would!

These guys were very quick to respond to my initial email and they sent someone over very quickly to give us an estimate. When the estimator left, he said it would be a couple days before we would see our estimate. Sure enough two days later the estimate came. It was a PDF file with a clearly written out explanation of the job and the price. A separate PDF for each job. I was very impressed with their use of technology. Each job required a different crew so they weren't all done at once - and on two of the three occasions the workers showed up at the wrong time/day -- fortunately my husband works from home most of the time and he was there to let them in. Other than that, the work was all done very professionally and efficiently and as for the tuck-pointing -- they went above and beyond. I was very pleased.

The crew arrived right on time and worked almost all day. After removing the old shingles they discovered that new plywood would have to be installed. Pictures of the work and problems that they encountered were supplied to me. The crew was neat and left the work site immaculate. They did a great job.

I needed to coordinate new vinyl siding for my mother's house in Chicago, which is 1 hour away from where I live. Tan's went to my mother's house and provided a detailed estimate in a timely fashion. I had three estimates and there's was in the middle. I chose them because they provided better detail than the lower estimate and the high estimate was much higher than the other two. There were several emails back and forth to discuss color and giving 50% downpayment The job was complicated by an attached porch which they separated first before applying the vinyl siding. They did a great job. Cleaned up everything afterwards. Also, appreciated Dan's help in thinking through some other issues on the house because we are trying to get it ready to sell.

They walked around the roof and then tried to convince us that they entire thing needed to be replaced when most of it is in tip top shape still. It was very high pressure. My wife felt like they were saying that if we don't get the whole roof redone right now, we don't love our children. Their estimate was $1000 more than JZ roofing to repair our dormer roof and around the chimney. Then when they called to follow up they were still super rude and high pressure. Give JZ Roofing a call. Tans does good work, I'm sure, but they will try to get you to do more work than they need to do. That's bad for the environment and bad for your pocketbook.

The structural integrity of the work performed by TQR appears to be sound and we have not noticed any additional signs of leaking water on the dining room ceiling since they completed their work. TQR also has fantastic customer service. They were very responsive by both phone and e-mail. My only critique of their work pertains to finishing details such as caulking. While I did not expect TQR's trim work around the patio door and flashing to be flawless, I did expect more from them here. Overall, I would recommend TQR to others and hire them myself again. Solid structural work and customer service are of paramount importance and they were excellent in those areas. If they had paid a little more attention to the fine aesthetic details in finishing their work, I would have absolutely rated them as "Excellent" instead of "Good".

God bless the folks at Tans' Quality Roofing, Inc. They are quality! I called them from Angie's after I found roof tiles next to my house ( a two-flat) on a Saturday. They called me back on Monday and scheduled an estimate visit. Their estimator explained the whole situation to me then emailed me an estimate and digital photos of the damage. My home-owner's insurance dragged it's heels. I called Tans' on A Monday afternoon after three weeks and faxed them a signed contract about 2:30 pm. At 2:00 pm the next day a guy showed up to do the repair--less than 24 hours. I can't thank them enough. It had rained continuously during the three weeks and I had begun to get internal damage. Yes, I would call them again. And yes they will do my next roof--probably sooner than later.

Tans did a roofing Job in 2009 that was excellent . We found them through Angies list and decided to have them bid on residing our house in 2010. They won thety won the bid They are an excellent contractor with good customer communications and relations. What is best is their employees. The work started promptly . There were explanations on what they were doing and the quality of their work was some of the best I have ever see. At the end of each day when they were done everything was cleaned up. All trash and scrap material was picked up and bagged and removed.

Two-man crew. They were here about three and one-half hours, though part of that was them waiting for someone else to deliver the electrical cables. They were very neat and did not leave a mess behind on the roof. We already had the outlet in place to plug in the cables as we had other cables up there several years ago.

Great company to work with. Very professional approach, no pressure and very helpful and accessible when questions came up. Really enjoyed working with them and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a good roofer.

They were great to work with. We have had the gutters for over two years and are very happy with them.

They quoted me on what they thought was going on, informing me right away that there may be more wrong than what they quoted based on my problem (water coming into the front porch from the roof, and right before I called them it began in my living room-- hence I needed a roofer!). The quote was about $1000 less than what I paid, but I knew there was going to be more wrong when they started the job as the previous siding and/or window person had "covered" up some areas that should not have been on the facade where we thought the leak was coming from. They showed up promptly on the day designated, but they did have to work an extra day to finish the job. I thought the crew was great, the foreman was helpful and informative about the problems they encountered and couldn't be happier. Needless to say, they fixed my problem which is what I needed!

TQR is one of the gems on Angie's List. I was not available during the week, so Larry (owner) came out on a Saturday. He went over in-detail about the work he was going to perform and the reasons behind it. Crew arrived on the day appointed and was clean and polite. Customer service called me immediately when the crew realized there would be additional labor/material involved (un-expected wood rot). They quoted the addtl cost accurately and immediately over the phone (no surprises on the final bill). I had two other quotes for this business and both companies offered quick-fix alternatives to fixing my water seepage problems, but neither solutions were as water-tight as TQR's (and they were much higher in cost). This is my second time using TQR - first job was about $1500 worth of work, same experience. I'm happy there are companies that still care about customer service and take pride in their final product.

Call for an estimate and company showed up at scheduled time. Once I called to schedule actual roof the install, it went as best as can be expected due the weather problems that we had these last few days. They got the job done as fast as they could do. I think they did quality work and came in at the price that they estimated. I would say that this company is better at responding to emails then to phone calls. I was OK this because I am comfortable email. On a side note, I have a satellite dish and they re-installed perfectly.

My overall experience was excellent. I had Tans provide a quote last fall for the above-referenced work. They quoted essentially the same price as another roofer who also has excellent reviews on Angie's List. Larry was extremely responsive to my many, many questions and was able to work to get an Energy Star qualified shingle that I wanted (this ultimately was the downfall of the other roofer). When I contacted Tans again in the spring they honored their previous quote. Installation went great. They brought a large crew (6-8 men) and had the entire roof installed in a single day. I would definitely recommend Tans to anyone I know who is looking for roofing work.

Our Condo Association was extremely pleased with all three projects. As Treasurer, and the individual wo has overseen several projects, i believe that TANs is the best contractor (regardless of job) i have ever worked with. I found the price very reasonable, especially for the quality of work. In addition, I was extremely impressed by the excellent customer service provided, and the quick response to my calls and emails. Too bad we dont have any more roofing jobs.
