We had Tans' Quality Roofing Inc come and give us a quote on replacing the roof. He was very punctual and gave us the quote within a week.

We called Tan's Roofing to get the shingles replaced due to some hail damage. They responded quickly to our request for an estimate and to any other questions. It took about three days. The people I've talked to there(Paul and Larry) were very good about explaining in detail the work to be performed. I would hire them again. You can see my roof for yourself at 2451 N. I purchased a solar powered attic fan and needed a roofing contractor to install it. I called the office and they took my information and said the "estimating department" would get back to me. The next day, Paul called me, but he didn't seem to know what he was calling for or what service I needed. I told him about the roof fan I wanted to have installed and he started to lecture me on what I should and should not do on my roof. I'm an architect by profession - I don't need a lecture on roofs. He told me to forget about the roof fan and go to airvent.com and watch their video - which is juts a sales pitch for their products. I repeatedly said that I simply needed a roofer to install the fan I had already purchased. He finally said he wanted to come look at my house to decide whether he wanted "to be part of this" (quote). I told him I would find someone else. I found his general behavior and response very disrespectful and unprofessional. I would not contact this company again for any future roofing needs.

First of all, my phone call was responded to very promptly and communication was smooth right from the beginning. We were given a 4:00 pm appointment the same day and Paul actually showed up at our door at 4:00 pm on the dot. He then proceeded to thoroughly check out our water leakage problem upstairs first on the inside of the house, then by climbing onto our very high and steep roof to take a closer look. Within minutes, he diagnosed the problem which was amazing! It seems that the flashing had not been installed on a ventilation pipe and left a hole big enough for him to stick his hand through, thus the rain leakage in our upstairs hallway. He then climbed down the roof and gave us precise explanations of all of our options with price quotes, the amount of time it would take, and even the pros and cons of doing the procedures now versus later. On top of all that, he gave us a website so that we could personally research these issues and not just take his word for it. After he briefed us on what needed to be fixed, he then left us to privately discuss our options without any pressure or hassle whatsoever. From there we scheduled an appointment for our repairs, but to our surprise he called us back about an hour later he decided to make a quick return trip after he had checked the upcoming weather forecast which called for even more rain. Though he didn't have to, he came back to our house again the same evening and put caulking on our hole in the roof so that no rain damage would occur before our scheduled repair appointment. Let me tell you, most places would have made us wait, even through more rain and leaks, but Paul had the decency and professionalism to come out and make 100% sure we could rest easy and not worry about waking up again to more rain in the hallway during the middle of the night. We can't thank Paul for going the extra mile and taking care of us from the moment he set foot in our home. We'll spread the word as much as possible to our friends and coworkers about the great job you do! Thank you so much!

I've been holding off on the roof replacement review, just to make sure the roof held up. Not so much a question of TQR's work; our roof has been a major thorn in our side since we moved in and I had been burned a few times by repair men (and the previous condo owner). Happy to report that we are past year 1 and experiencing no water problems. I guess its to be expected, but again, going through the experience of a leaky roof is not pleasant. For the roof replacment, TQR was cost effective and efficient. Communication was an issue on a few occasions, but we ended up figuring things out at the end of the day. Recently, we used TQR to modify our roof deck. Dan Mohs did a great job and completely met my expectations. Again, the quality of the work was great and the pricing was competitive. It did take a very long time to get a proposal though. Part of this was due to the inclement weather the area has experienced this spring. I would use TQR again for future carpentry and/or roofing projects.

Most of the work was on schedule. There were some unforeseen expenses needed, but the extra costs were not very high. TQR was also very good at pointing out other possible problems that were not associated with the roof (e.g. siding/windows). The only negative is that we were told that they would recommend other guys would look at these non-roof problems, but that was never followed up.

They were very quick and responsive and emailed me a quote within 2 days. I never saw the individual and he said he came by while I was not home and took measurements. The gates to my house are locked so I am not sure exactly how he arrived at the final quote without exact measurements. But in any case, his quote was very competitive but I was unsure of what I was exactly getting from this company so I decided to go with someone else.

TQR was on time, worked diligently, cleaned up after themselves and did the job well.

Tans Quality Roofing did an excellent job from start to finish. Every question I have had was answered professionally. All the work we have had done was put in a contract and completed according to the terms.There really where no surprises. The owners Paul and Larry have been very honest from start to finish. Paul has been by numerous times to explain the repairs. Larry has scheduled everything and followed up with me on every question. The foreman Eugenio has been amazing. His workmanship has been truly impressive. The crew that Eugenio is in charge of follows his leadership. I guess that starts from the top and works its way down...from ownership to laborer. We would highly recommend Tans Quality Roofing.

It didn't go - they don't call back.

The company was very professional, prompt, courteous, friendly and very quick to perform the work. I was very happy with the overall experience and will be calling them again in November to install those same storm windows.

Our Condo Building has some leaking issues and we called Tans' roofing to come out and give us a quote on the roof repairs. He then proceeded to tell us we needed a new roof (this after two other companies who had come out for estimates said only repairs were necessary.) I requested the estimate nonetheless which he never emailed me. After this encounter I would not contract this company to do work for our condo association.

We called Tans over to check the flashing and shingles of our condo roof. They're great.

I liked they had good reviews on Angie's List. They were able to come out with samples when giving the estimate. They were very good.

I didn't get any other quotes, I relied on their reputation on this website. I thought it was a little pricy for the small piece that had to be fixed, but like I said, I didn't get any other quotes, so that is on me. They sent someone out to look at it and give a price and had it fixed almost immediately. I was not home but they did the work after I paid half up front and the rest was done done that day. They took pictures of before and after the work was done and cleaned up the place like they were never there -- which is very important to me as they had to work in my neighbor's yard and didn't leave any junk that their dog could eat (I had a gutter cleaning company that threw a bunch of stuff in their yard and the poor dog cut his nose on a gutter guard they had thrown in their yard!) I am very pleased with the work done by this company and the communication back and forth was excellent.

Tan's Quality Roofing did an awesome job. Some of my neighbors commented on the high quality workmanship of the roofs installation.

WOW...I was in the last hour before our closing and I used Tans to get a second opinion on the roof...Paul came out and saw what our inspector didn't find! We received a estimate of the work within a few hours and it saved us from a huge roof issue. Use these guys, they are responsive, knowledgeable, and professional!

The estimate was a bit overpriced and the person who came was not to my liking. Talking fast and not being thorough with explanations. I tried them because they had great reviews here but I didn't like the energy from the person who came to assess the situation,

UPDATE TO 2/20/2013 REVIEW I did see that the Vendor submitted the exact email that he sent to me. Today I received an email from Tans Quality Roofing again blaming our Tenants for their inability to get an inspection scheduled. If you read th e below narrative in it's entirety and the comment from our Tenant, you'll see that MY COMPLAINT is that there was a lack of COMMUNICATION between the company and the Property Owner. In keeping with the Vendor's need to post emails, I will do the same. I object to one sentence in this email and I've bolded it. I will leave it up to Angie's List members to discern what he may be meaning by making that statement. Hello Jeanne, The problem with the Skylights are they are the wrong ones.We would have given you our findings,but you were very quick to mention giving us a negative review on Angieslist. We performed a Free Estimate for you, 25 miles away from our Office.We had to coordinate with your Tenants, who were not very cooperative.The Skylights we can replace the ones you have are Velux Skylights.The Skylights you have on there now our made to sit on Flat Roofs,and it is recommended they sit at least 6 inches higher then the roof, yours do not.The ones we are recommending in the attached Proposal are made for Shingle Roofs. I emailed the company regarding my roofing issue. I received an email response on the same day (Feb 15) that someone would be contacting me. The following day (Saturday Feb 16) I received a call from Paul. Gave him a detailed description of the problem and told him that there are Tenants currently living in the house and he needs to contact them to gain entry to see the ceiling damage which will give him an idea of where the problem on the roof is. I also told him I had other contractors going to the house the same day and he should contact the Tenants immediately as long as the Tenants were home. Today is Feb. 20 and I still have not heard from this company or it's representatives. I received an email yesterday (Feb 19) from my Tenant that she did receive a call from Paul late Monday(Feb 18) night, but after she described to him the times they were available for him to enter the house he was wishy washy about setting up a time, plus the weather was going to be a bit iffy for the next few days. He said it would be a few days before he would be able to get out to look at the roof. She told him that he needed to contact us.....I have not received a phone call from Paul. If this company is too busy, or the weather is to nasty a phone call goes a long way to keeping people informed. In light of the no contact I wouldn't use them in the future. We're dealing with Tenants who are concerned about a water leak from the roof that may damage their property not to mention the Landlord's concern about additional damage to the ceiling if the leak isn't stopped.

Tan's was very responsive and did come out as promised to do the estimate. We thought that the estimate was too high for the work description. We choose to go a different route. Tan's was nice and professional though. A little pricey.

It didn't go well. They were very unprofessional from the initial call to the bid process.

They worked and got the job done quality. They were very efficient and we have recommended them to others.

My windows were leaking from a bad tuckpointing job and the brick has white water stains all over it. Tan's redid the tuckpointing from the roof down about 6 ft. They should up on time and worked quickly. The windows no longer leak and the white stains have gone away.

I am finally absolutely confident the sunroom roof is completely sealed. Here are the points of this effort I found especially professional and impressive: - There was a lot of work involved in disassembling and rebuilding the deck before they could even begin. TANS took this on without hesitation. - I appreciated their removing everything to the upper roof, rather than down in front of the house - They showed up when they said they would and worked through cold days - TANS explained the reasoning behind every move they made and every recommendation they proposed - They are thoroughly familiar with code requirements that other roofers did not even mention - They realized during the job that they had not quoted for rebuilding the deck, but they acknowledged this as their error and honored the original quoted price - They actually rebuilt the deck better than the original. It's lighter and simpler in design, and will drain more completely - They called me right away when they encountered something unexpected (such as the condensation under the roof), and talked through the options and actions required - They confirmed the wood under the roof was solid, when someone less reputable might have said it needed replacing - The attention to detail -- especially to the flashing work -- was exceptional, and greatly exceeded the prior roofer's quality and execution. Overall, I could not be more pleased. The price was fair, the changes were minimal but absolutely essential, and their integrity as well as craftsmanship came through clearly. I highly recommend TANS for quality roofing work.
