After 70 Years – Now Living Off Its Laurels? Buyer Beware! This very recent experience has been like visiting an established restaurant and the food served was good, but the overall treatment and service were horrendous. It is unconscionable to believe this company has been in business for over 70 years and treating its customers so disrespectfully with such poor and inept customer service. Perhaps they engage in disparate sales and customer service practices - do not treat its customers equally. Otherwise, how could they remain in business? Sub-contractors were hired, whom Steele and Loeber did not supervise or monitor. Throughout the construction process, we frequently we were not informed when the workers were coming to perform the work. They just showed up. On two separate incidents, the sub-contractors blasted their music from their boom box while working, in the early morning hours. Long-time next-door neighbors who work at night, sleep during the day or work from home were not entertained. They threatened to call the police. Each time, the workers promptly stopped the music when requested. Twice, the electricians were no shows, after confirming the day before. I also had to pay (per a waiver) for a damaged sprinkler pipe that the electrician mistakenly split – water was gushing everywhere. The drywall contractors did a good job installing the firewall on one side of the garage. However, we were not ever informed that the drywall work was completed because they left behind a drywall panel and other small materials. After two weeks, I asked when the guys would return and was then notified that the garage had been completed. The rep never bothered to call, visit or text, to inform us of the completion – nothing – just silence. We risked parking our cars on the street an extra two weeks for no reason. The drywall panel remained in the garage for about another week before having to call them to request removal. A few days later, workers came out to install gutters and downspouts. Upon being informed the garage was complete, I inquired about the open backyard 25-foot-long trench dug by the electricians and remained, after passing inspection two weeks prior. I was told closing the trench was my responsibility to cover. After the concrete foundation was laid, I requested that the concrete guys come back and clean up my neighbor’s sidewalks that they had disfigured with vast concrete residue that had now hardened. A month later they returned to clean up. Luckily, my neighbor’s sidewalk is back to normal but ours remains disfigured. One month after completion, water seeps into the garage when backyard sprinklers are run. Rep texted me saying it must be due to torrential rains at that time but will come by and apply caulk. It has been three weeks without any communications. Prior to delivering the building material, I requested a copy of my sales contract, and spoked to Phil, the owner. He was cantankerous, discourteous and rude when questioned why full payment was required prior to the work being completed. Office staff never provided a copy.

We lost our detached garage in an emotionally charged fire in March of this year. We needed to rebuild as quickly as possible. We searched for garage builders and very few wanted to even show up. Some would only give estimated proposals by email. When a neighbor told us about Steele and Loeber we made a call. Brian showed up the next day personally and walked through the entire build with us. We trusted him so much we signed the contract on the spot. The pricing was reasonable, but the service was great! Brian kept us informed every step of the way. The people doing the concrete, the building and the electrical were quality and willing to communicate. The outcome was superb, and we were thrilled with the garage.

Salesperson was excellent measuring was done quickly order was put in that day and door was installed the following week. The installation went smoothly and quickly. The old door was taken away and the cleanup was done neatly. The installer was professional and courteous. The door looks fantastic and operates great. Very well satisfied with Steele and Loeber! went horribly wrong when I started addressing my concerns and asking questions. Called the office was was treated with the utmost disrespect. Call lasted all of 30 seconds without me even explaining my concerns

My wife and I got 3 quotes for the work. They all came in very close but we decided to go with Steele and Loeber because we just felt comfortable right away with Phil, the owner who did the estimate. The project was delayed a little at the start because of the weather but went smoothly once started. The demo was quick and cleaned up well. The concrete job is beautiful. We had 1 minor hiccup with the electrical at inspection but Phil straightened it out quickly. The finished product looks great. We just had 2 village inspectors out for the final approval and they both raved about the quality and style of the garage. As you will see in the pictures I am finishing out the interior now. All said and done we are very pleased with our decision to use Steele and Loeber.

We ended up changing our mind prior to doing anything because as we started talking details, Murray got upset, would not commit to trying to honor our request of scheduling a demo and concrete pour, and then danced around saying the owner would contact us about next steps and we have not heard anything. He was so thrown off and visibly angry he left his binder and demo items at our homes.

His responsiveness was really refreshing. We called the receptionist, and she provided cell phone numbers if they were not near them. It was never, "they are not in." The owner, Don, also was great with communicating with us. They also gave us, in writing, a step by step of the garage build. They structured the payments as they went along with the build. We felt like they were never to busy for us.

Don use them. Just yesterday i had the small door stop working as the cables or the spring came loose. I e-maild Steele & Lorber to see what they would do and was told "the spring just don'e come loose EVER!!!" his words. he did say he would call the company and have them come out and look at it . with there track record on repairs or problem i went else were to have repair at my expense and was told that maybe the spring was not wound enough and the cable jump off some how, this company Forest door was here in less then 4 hours to fix the problem, great service from them.

Work went well. There was some confusion over dates and schedules. Delays were largely due to communication difficulties with salesman/project coordinator. At the same time, we had to be out of town frequently due to family emergencies, which admittedly did not make it easy. Details that were to be conveyed to work crews were not. Once we got in direct contact with the foremen and sub contractor for concrete, everything went fine. Overall work was done as promised and relatively on schedule. Quality is high. Very happy with the new garage!

Superb service! Bob Loeber responded quickly to my call, came out and took measurements, and gave me a quote. I waited several weeks to contract with them, but when I was ready they responded immediately. Work was done very professionally.

However, had roof tiles come loose very early on. They fixed it but I had to call repeatedly and the guy who answers the phone is very rude and a bit condescending. Now have a light switch problem and that's taking too long to get fixed. Small issues with the garage door, but that was fixed. Communication problems at their office. Mr. Loeber should do follow up calls to customers to see if everything is okay.

I'm still negotiating the deposit return. I put in $1000 and only got back $400.

The garage itself is well built, however, the wrong overhead door was installed. I was to get an insulated door and a regular door was installed. When I informed the installers of the error, they were subcontractors and could not check with the company til Monday and half the door was already up.. Called about this on Monday and they didn't want to do anything about it. When paid in full was told that more caulking needed to be done and that they would put up an insulation kit on my door, which I refused also told gutter guys would call before coming out. The electricians did a good job and then nothing for two weeks, even though I left my service door open so they could come in to do the caulking. Calls now are either not being returned or promised dates are not being kept. Overhead door problem still not resolved. Gutters were put up incorrectly even though placement was known by salesman and Gutter Guy did not call before coming out. Caulking still not done.

Our salesman, Rick, was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. We are happy with our new garage and have received a number of compliments on it. It is very well-built. It took longer for them to begin the project than we had hoped (2 months from the signing of the contract). The wrecking crew did not communicate with us as well as they should have, but once the old garage was demolished, the new garage was finished in 6 weeks. Steele and Loeber uses various companies to do parts of the work ( the wrecking, concrete, electrical and garage door), so sometimes there was a ''wait time'' between the parts of the building process.

THEY DID AN EXCELLENT JOB OF BUILDING THE GARAGE. WE GOT WHAT WE WANTED. THEY ANSWERED ALL THE QUESTIONS THAT WE HAD. WE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THIS COMPANY.

We would highly recommend this company to other people. It pays to work with someone who really knows what they are doing. Very impressed.

They did a great job. They tore down the old garage and hauled it away. Then they came and poured the new slab and built the structure exactly to our specifications. The salesman was incredible, no hard selling. All of the estimates we received from them were WAY under all of the others that we talked to.

I paid them three weeks ago in full to build a garage. Every time I call, they tell me I have to talk to Bob Loeber. They say they are waiting on the permit, so I checked with the clerk's office and am told the permit is waiting there to be picked up. I keep calling them, but no one has called me back. I would like to at least have a call back with a start date for the project, and they told me they couldn't give me a date until they got the permit (which has been there waiting to be picked up for a week and a half).

STEELE & LOEBER PERFORMED A VERY FAST, CLEAN, AND PROFESSIONAL JOB. THE SALES REPRESENTATIVE WAS ACCOMMODATING, ATTENTIVE, AND PATIENT, ANSWERING ALL OF OUR QUESTIONS BEFORE GETTING STARTED. I FEEL VERY COMFORTABLE WITH THE JOB THAT THEY DID, AND THE EASE AND PROFESSIONALISM THAT THEY SHOWED.

WORKMEN ARRIVED WHEN SCHEDULED, DID THE WORK AS CONTRACTED, CLEANED UP PRETTY WELL AND ANSWERED ANY QUESTIONS. THERE WAS A SMALL PROBLEM WITH THE ROOF NOT BEING FINISHED BY ONE CREW, BUT A PHONE CALL REMEDIED THE SITUATION AND IT WAS TAKEN CARE OF.
