Star Tuckpointing was great. I had over 7 quotes from other companies, and Star came out ahead both on price as well as expertise. These guys were amazing at what they did, and were always on time, and had excellent communication skills. Everyone in the building is impressed with their work. As a condo association, we know that we will be using this company going forward.

After an extensive inspection of the exterior of the building, a detailed plan was provided to plan for future expenditures. This was a great service and very professional. I will definately utilize this service in the future and they will see repeat business.

They filled in various of the building areas where mortar was cracked, including the limstone sills. and installed two ne stainless steel metal caps on chimneys. They were punctual, professional and provided the service we agreed upon. From what we've seen so thus far (from our surface, layperson's inspection) their worksmanship was very good: neat, thorough and compatible with the building.

For a couple of years, our condo building experienced leaks coming through the parapet walls during heavy rains. This resulted from shoddy work done on the walls by another masonry company. The association decided to try and resolve the matter for good, so we hired Star Tuckpointing based on their stellar reviews and reputation. We?re very happy that we did. Throughout the entire process of rebuilding and tuckpointing our parapet walls, Star maintained consistent, thorough communication with us?letting us know exactly what they were going to do before they started the project and, at the end, walking us through the site and carefully, patiently explaining everything they had done. They also thoroughly cleaned the work site at the end of each day. Best of all, three months after Star finished the job?and after a lot of heavy storms?our building has not had one leak. Star?s quote, neither the cheapest nor the most expensive we received, came in very close to the final invoice, and there were no surprise fees at the end. Highly recommended.

Star had a large backlog of business over the summer. Once contract was signed, it was approx. 4 weeks to schedule the work. Voytek came to the house before the work started to walk through all that they would do. He answered questions and incorporated my specific requests. The work then started promptly. The workers came consistently over the course of about a week and methodically worked through the agreed scope. I then inspected and informed Voytek of a number of final punchlist items. He conducted his own inspection and added other items to the punchlist, including taking pictures of the specific items so that the work crew would know exactly what needed to be done. The crew then followed up. Voytek and I did another inspection and he touched up a few additional things. Very thorough and prompt in completing the work. Overall, my experience with Star was one of the best I have had with a contractor. Voytek's regular communication, willingness to listen and consistent follow through meant we stayed on the same page of what would be done and when. So the work was done as promised. I wish other contractors would see that this process creates satisfied customers.

I can't say enough good things about this family owned company. (This is the second time I have used them--first was a couple of years ago.) The chimney issue was pretty straightforward, but the downspout/gutter issue was complicated--we had been dealing with water in the house last winter from the ice in the down spout. The "Star Tuck Pointing Team" took the time (in several conversations!) to help us decide how to approach the problem, both from their aspect, as well as further steps and additional suggestions on what we could do to keep the downspout running during the winter. The bid was "on target" and fair, the "scheduling" time frame was reasonable in light of the weather, and the company's workmen are courteous and very professional.

This was the second time we worked with Star Tuckpointing. They were very responsive and always thorough in their assessment of the task and explanation of the work to be performed. We worked with Voytek and he is always patient and respectful when discussion the job and answering detailed questions. They are punctual and professional throughout the process, their work is neat, and they do a good clean-up on completion of the job. Their pricing is competitive.

Went with another contractor. Star was the highest quote of 3 contractors. But the also have the highest ratings. The contractor I went with did not do an acid wash or sealant. I wish I could have afforded Star.

Peter came out to evaluate my situation and made suggestions to remedy the issues. The quote came in a timely manner and was within range of 2 quotes from other masonry companies. What set the quote apart was the work proposed involved higher quality materials and implementation techniques which other companies did not include (such as stainless steel drip edges, high grade masonry caulk, and masonry waterproofing compounds). Voytek came out the day that work started on the building and was very approachable. He reviewed the statement of work and suggested making a few changes which made sense to me. The workers setup, started working, and finished without me really noticing - they were extremely efficient and quiet. They were able to color match really close to the existing mortar - I was impressed. There was a problem with some of the spot tuck pointing colors, but I voiced my concerns and they came to remedy very quickly.

The house is about 90 years old. The chimney was in bad shape. A slight auto accident damaged a corner brick support for the front porch. Peter at Star Tuckpointing returned our call quickly and arranged to meet the next week. He came exactly as expected and described the work he felt needed to be done. A clear and thorough proposal was e-mailed quickly after. He told us they were working about 3-4 weeks out and would call to arrange a walk-through for the work when their crew was available. We received the proposal on May 6 and the work was completed by June 5. On day 1, the chimney was completed and the damaged corner was dismantled and partially rebuilt. They had to support the corner of the porch with braces during this process. There was a 1-day rain delay and they completed rebuilding the corner, and all the tuckpointing, the morning of the 3rd day. They even replaced a rotted section of the wooden support that rested on the brickwork. They put everything on the porch back in place as it was when they started, and cleaned up nicely. We were very pleased with the quality of the work and the professionalism.

This company was incredibly professional. They were easy to contact, provided me with updates, and the finished product looks great--they made sure the brick design matched our old building perfectly. There were no hidden costs.

The crew showed up on time, and did the work that was contracted, and in the main the work that they completed was well done. Voytek, who led the crew called about a week later to ask if I was satisfied with the work. I told him that there were a couple of minor items near the top of the chimney that I thought should have been addressed. He told me that they did the work for which they were contracted, and that had I pointed it out when the crew was here they could have remedied the issue. He went on to say that if he had to send a crew out to remedy what remained, he would need to charge me for the work. As I'm moving from the home and what was lacking wasn't major, I decided to not pursue the matter. Later that day, I felt a little put off by the conversation. I recalled that they crew left without telling me that they were done, and so I really didn't have an opportunity to inspect the work while they were here. I sent a picture of what I felt was lacking and sent it along with an email to Star pointing out that the crew had left without giving me an opportunity to look over the work. To his credit Voytek called and explained that what I was pointing out was a "divot" in the mortar and that the cracks were minor and were not allowing water to enter. He promised to address it when he has a crew in the area as it's a very minor item that he explained is more cosmetic than an area of concern (e.g., a leak). He told me that it would most likely be much later in the summer. So, in spite of the fact that my first call with Voytek was less than satisfactory, in fairness I need to acknowledge that the work that was completed was on time, the crew cleaned up after themselves, they were punctual, the foreman did follow up with me to ask if I was satisfied before releasing the bill for the balance due, and he has promised to make things right.

The final result was excellent! The house has a new lease on life and everyone in the neighborhood comments on how good it looks. Needless to say I am more than pleased. Thanks!

I contacted them in March to get my entire garage tuck pointed. During the estimate, he noticed that my chimney was in bad shape too (very proactive). I thought the estimate was very fair. They let me see samples of mortar and even suggested the right one to blend with the house. They did a very good job and were respectful of plantings etc. Would highly recommend.

I obtained a quote from Star Tuckpointing last fall. We agreed the work could wait until spring. I emailed them in early 2014 to schedule the work. They emailed me a contract and I sent it back with a down payment. A few weeks later, they called me to arrange for them to do the work. The morning they were to start, Voytek met me at the house. The crew truck had broken down, so they weren't able to start that day, but Voytek walked around with me and confirmed the scope of the project. The next morning, they came and did the work. It only took one day. I had to work, so I was not at home while they were there. I inspected their work and they did a great job. Voytek followed up with a call to make sure everything was okay. They emailed me an invoice and I sent them the balance. They did a great job of matching the color and appearance of the grout within the existing condition. If you look up close, you can see where they fixed the spots, but even from a few feet away (which is all most people see), the repairs look seamless. I am very pleased.

I was happy with all aspects of this company and our experience. Everyone I dealt with who worked on this project was Polish--an added bonus since my elderly mother could speak to them in their native tongue. They were professional, neat, respectful of my mother. There was nothing about them that I didn't like. I'm having them come back in the Spring to do another job.

Very professional, scheduled 2 trips to accommodate our schedules. Mortar was a good match to existing mortar. Very professional job, easy to work with.

Replaced 16 foot lintel over garage overhead door and removed and replaced 8 foot brick wall above lintel. Removed 60 feet of concrete cap atop of the wall and replaced with 4 inch X 10 inch X 60 feet of limestone cap. Roof of garage is a concrete deck with a 4 foot brick wall on three sides and fourth side the house wall. Replaced the lintel over the exterior entry door. Made a repair of the concrete wall supporting the rear entry stairway. Removed and reset the limestone cap on a 16 foot stone flower box.

Overall, very satisfied with crew, contract and work done. Scheduling was a major snafu, with only one date change due to weather. Otherwise I would use Star again.

Voytek was very responsive and easy to communicate with and work with. Overall we are very pleased with everything. When issues arose during the project, Voytek was very accesible and responded immediately to correct the issues. One of my main concerns was about protection of existing roofing and patio pavers in the areas they were working. They did put some protection down, but I did have to remind them to do this to a greater extent after the job was in progress. There is a very small amount of concrete or mortar powder residue on our patio pavers I can still see; Voytek did do a muratic acid rinse to mostly remove it, and said he would come out and address it further if required, so I am happy with their responsiveness to the issue. Otherwise the guys did a great job; they did what they said they were going to do, and did it in the time frame they said they would do it. I greatly appreciated Voytek's answering of all of my questions, and immediately addressing all of my concerns. I would use them again and would recommend them to others. I feel their price was fair for the work completed. I got 4 estimates for the work; one estimate was a few thousand dollars less, one estimate was a couple thousand dollars more, and Star Tuckpointing and another company were comparable and in the middle price-wise. I chose Star based on price, Angies list reviews, and my discussions with Peter who came to do the estimate; I got the feeling talking to him that he fully understood what I wanted, and that the company was fully competent and capable of doing the work. We are happy with the results, and happy we went with Star.

It went excellent. We are very happy with the work done. Voytec and his crew were prompt on the start date, cleaned up daily, and the entire project of about one week went very smoothly. This is a family owned business and Voytec's father Ziggy stopped by daily to monitor the progress and address any issues that he observed. They took down the garage wall on 3 sides, replaced the lentils, and rebuilt the brick garage walls and replaced the bitumin flat garage roof when the walls were repaired. Many bricks inside the garage were replaced with new bricks where required. They took down to below the roof line one chimney, and rebuilt with new brick. Then that and another chimney were sealed to prevent moisture penetration. Absolutely recommend this company and I will be calling them again next year for another masonry project I need.

Peter initially came out to do the estimate. He was very knowledgeable, professional and informative. He answered all of my questions, addressed all of my concerns and took detailed notes about what we wanted done. Star promptly e-mailed the estimate to me and the price was in line with the another estimate I received. I decided to go with Star for this job because Peter's confidence made me confident that they would do a superb job. Voytek came by the morning that the crew was starting the tuck pointing just to run through the job again. He was just as knowledgeable, professional and informative as Peter. Voytek came by a few times both days of labor just to check in and see how things were going. He really has a handle on what's going on and addressing any issues that come up. We had a little mold growing next to our awning in the front & he said that his guys will just take care of it, no problem. Furthermore, they found that the mold was growing in that area due to a leak in our gutter, so they fixed that, too. No problem! We were pretty impressed with the work that they did. Our neighbor is a cement worker and even complimented the crew on what a great job they did. It really looks great. There was one corner of our house that seemed like the crew didn't brush well enough...it was kind of lumpy looking and not as perfect as the rest of the house. I sent Voytek some pictures and he came out the next day to take a look at it. Two days later, a couple of guys came back to fix it...again, NO PROBLEM! Voytek reminded me of their 3 year warranty and if we have any problems to give him a call and he'll take care of it - and I believe he will. I feel like Star really went above and beyond. Both my husband and I are very impressed and are in agreement that we will refer Star Tuck pointing to our friends and family.

Voytek was our project manager and he did an excellent job explaining all the work that was to be done in laymen's terms so I could understand. He was personable and friendly, but more importantly, he made sure the job was done on time and right. I scheduled work right before a vacation. Even though spring weather in Chicago is unpredictable, they met the deadline by arriving on time and working long days to make it. I've recommended them to friends and would use them again.
