SAFE Electrical Service

I called SAFE Electrical Services and Mr. Ostott came out immediately. As mentioned earlier, he ran an electrical line for my dishwasher. I especially appreciated his promptness as other electricians stated that they could not do the job right away. Mr. Ostott was very professional and completed the job in a timely manner. I will definitely refer him to to others and use employ his services again!

They did a top-notch job. The other estimate I got was much higher. They had to break out plaster on walls and ceiling, run wires to ceiling, install fans, repair plaster and re-paint. I had a very short window of time for this to be started and completed. Although the first workman was late and he made a huge mess breaking out the plaster (apparently didn't spread a tarp), the entire job was completed late in the evening of the 2nd day by the owner himself. The plaster patching and painting is flawless, the fans are seated well and don't wobble, the lights work. I'm writing this 18 months after the work and everything is still working perfectly. I don't remember the price tag but it was very reasonable.

The wiring in my 1925 home has been a concern for some time. After an extensive search on Angie's list I cited SAFE Electrical Service and requested an appointment to assess what needed to be done. Despite initially having to leave a message, I was pleasantly surpassed with how quickly (actually almost immediately) my call was returned by Charles Otstott (owner). Care was taken even in the immediate call to under tans what my concerns were with an appointment made quite quickly. During the initial assessment visit once again care was taken to understand what I was concerned with overall and room by room with technical evaluations being made at each point. After a fairly extensive "walk-through" and assessment, I was informed of how my issues could be approached via a stage gate/step-wise strategy if cost was in issue with care being taken to indicate what was advised given my specific wiring situation. Given the fantastic cost and comfort with our discussion, I hired SAFE on the spot. Work began the following week and again I was impressed with the care taken to work efficiently and effectively to accomplish the work required. Despite my "fear" of electricians I would and will hire SAFE again and intend to utilize them as my "go to" electrical team.

the work done was fine, prompt and for the most part, timely; I had originally agreed to a huge price, just to get it done, quickly; had other estimates for half as much, but couldn't reach them, at the time; my fault, as much, or more than theirs;

We're happy! Our ceilings are 10', we needed our new West Elm Chandelier hung in the living room above the fireplace. I wish I could upload photos on here, the chandelier looks GREAT! Charles and his guy did a great job hanging the heavy chandelier. I've hired Safe Electrical a couple of years ago. They are very polite, on time & efficient. The job was done perfectly! I will have them out again soon for more projects.

They were fast. They came in and did the work quickly. We needed someone to come right out because the light was gone.

I've used Charles twice in the past month for repairs at my new condo. First, he fixed two non-functional wall outlets in a bedroom. He was right on time, was very quick in making the repairs, and even gave me a discount on his quoted price because of how easy the job was. The second visit was for a broken ceiling light in my closet. Again, he and a technician were right on time, made a quick assessment of the problem, and fixed it on the spot, no fuss.

Safe Electric came prior to doing the job to access the situation. They gave me a price. I was thrilled with the amount.. We set a time to do the job. They showed up promptly at 10:00 am. They were done in a few hours. They were very professional and courteous. I am very happy with work and will definitely use them again.

I contracted the services of Safe Electrical with some difficulty in getting appointment. Charles put me on the schedule and still had to come back which created a strain on my time because I am a teacher. He stated that he had to do some work within my electrical box and the diagnosis given by American Sales he did not agree with. I was told by 3 electricians that the gauge of line from the outside quick disconnect box was too small. He did not agree. However, seeing as how he knew that I had difficulty in retaining someone to fix my spa I guess he took advantage of that. He charged me almost $200.00 an hour which I suspect covered his cost and his helper. I had no other choice considering the weather was changing and I feared that the pipes would freeze to my spa. Neverthless I will make sure not to recommend him to any other customer, especially a woman. I did not receive a guarantee from him, but if I have any trouble I will refer him to the Better Business Bureau. Mrs. JoniAnn Jones-Chaney

See review for work completed 8/5/13. Had to call due to new problem. (not fault of electrician.) He evaluated new problem. Shopped for new fixture and installed same day. No charge. I am very satisfied. Will use him for future electrical. work. C Otstott very courteous and professional.

I was rather disappointed to hear that "we no longer service condos in your area near downtown." this was after I provided my address in Hyde Park. what's going on here? I was literally speechless to hear this.... just very, very disappointed.

I called SAFE Electrical (Charles) to obtain a quote for the replacement of light fixtures and advice on rewiring whole unit or house. Charles was very professional and also friendly. He checked the fixtures in question (very thoroughly and efficiently) and gave me a quote on their replacement. He also did a quick check on a rental unit to give me advice on whether it needed to be rewired or not. He was very honest and stated that some of the wiring appeared to be new. Although other wiring was not so new, there did not appear to be any safety hazards. I really appreciated this advice. A prior electrician recommended I get my whole building rewired without even doing an assessment of the wiring (stating he really wouldn't know how old the wiring was until he got the job and started doing the work, but assumed the wiring was old because the building was old). Bottom line: Charles was professional, positive, and forthright. SAFE Electrical's pricing seemed to be in line with other quotes I received (In one case, slightly higher). I scheduled him to replace the fixtures and he and another worker were on time, worked quickly and I am very happy with the work they did. I plan to use SAFE Electrical again.

I recently bought a house. When the house was inspected I was told everything was good. Once I moved in I found many receptacles had been painted over and rendered useless. The fuse box was circa 1968. There was no exhaust in the bathroom and upon opening the door after showering the smoke alarm went off. Not a GFI was in sight. The garage door opener was plugged into an extension cord. The sump pump was old and had no battery back-up. I wanted two indoor light fixtures changed. The lights on the outside of the garage went on only if the inside light was turned on. There are very few street lights in the area and the house had no motion lights - not good if one often arrives home after dark. Some wall plates were not the right size. The only person I considered calling was Charles at SAFE Electrical. He had done a few jobs at my old house and had a great deal of patience with my dad who had dementia. Charles made a suggestion to have a light fixture put in near the fuse box which was tucked away in a small area between two walls in the basement. I had that done and actually received compliments from others who had done work in the basement when we were getting ready to sell and move. When Charles from SAFE Electrical took a look at my needs at the new house, he gave me several options. Figuring I plan to be here for at least 10 years I opted for the works. After all, in 10 years I would prefer the electrical to be 10 years old, not 55 years old! We scheduled a time frame for the work. He informed me at the time he would be out of town for a few days during that time. At one point he had a family emergency but did call me to let me know he would not be there on that day. Charles from SAFE Electrical and his helper worked diligently to get everything done. He even called later to make sure everything was ok and did come back to make adjustments with the motion sensor lights. When I have the basement remodeled, it will be Charles from SAFE Electrical I call to do the work there.

I called and received a prompt appointment. Arrived on time. Courteous. I explained problem. I pulled wires when attempting to change bulb. Repair completed within 1hr.Price seemed to be fair. I have experience with hiring electricians. Had him look at another potential repair. Seemed to be an honest and up front professional.

Fantastic. Another contractor who was working on our house accidentally cut (and shorted) out an electric line. I found SAFE on Angies List and Charles was out at my house in about 15 minutes. They started work immediately and finished within about an hour! Amazing Service. Very Professional. Outstanding.

Was on time, friendly, installed in a timely manner and did not make a mess. Have used Safe Electrical ever since I moved here in 2009 for big and small jobs. Always satisfied. I have an older house and they have done updates as well for me.

Overall, a fabulous experience. We have used Safe Electric on a number of occasions and have been extremely satisfied every time. Would highly recommend and will definitely use again.

Charles and an assistant came out to the house to assist me in some rehab projects that I didn't feel comfortable tackling myself. They performed the following: -Assembled and mounted a ceiling fan. In the middle of this project Charles discovered a safety issue with the ceiling wiring which inflated the scope of the project some. He replaced and remounted the ceiling box along with the wiring from the switch to the box -Supplied and installed 2 sets of track lighting -Replaced 2 faulty pull-chain lights and fixed a wiring issue -Replaced 2 faulty outlets -Sealed off old wiring from a demolished kitchen I was very satisfied with the quality and speed of work done. Charles was upfront with pricing and provided several different options based on my budget. When the project scope changed midstream, he was upfront and immediately supplied me with a revised estimate. I have called on Safe Electrical twice now (totaling roughly $2500 between both calls) and will continue to use them as my primary electrical contractor.

Safe Electrical would have gotten the job I was totally impressed with his inspection. This guy knew his stuff at least he impressed me until he started talking. He got too personal with me and when I told him about it, he started patronizing me. Ok I was going to let that go to give him the benefit of the doubt. then came the pricing, He gave me listings of various packages which contained three different prices. What got me and what really turned me off was his last level of pricing was called and I quote "the bandage effect" now that got me, who writes that. It was as if he was telling me if you want me to do a half a** job then take this one. I asked if I chose the the middle pricing do I get some sort of discount for getting him off Angie's List. His reply was he didn't give discounts. I quote "would you work on your job for a discount, if your boss asked you to work and didn't want to pay you your full salary, would you do a good job. I think he probably is a very good electrician but he needs someone else to do PR.

The team peformed an excellent job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The added new fixtures gave our home an clean and updated look.

I called and spoke to a very polite and friendly lady. She helped with scheduling because I have 4 dogs and needed someone else home. Charles was professional, punctual and very accurate in the problem diagnose. Price was reasonable. He fixed the problem in no time buy replacing the wiring between the two outlets. Would not hesitate to use or recommend Safe Electrical.

Back a little awhile ago the electric went out in my bedroom. The circuit breaker kept going off and finally went out completely. It is hard for me to get work done because of my work schedule. It is very erractic, also take care of my elderly mother. I called them up because of the good reviews on Angie's list. The lady answered, was very polite and worked with me and my schedule. He came at the appointed time on Monday night, explained the situtation to him and he immediatley went to work on the problem. He explained it was my circuit breakers, they were very old and just stop working. So, he replaced that one and the electric starting working again in the bedroom. He suggested replacing the rest seeing that they were old also. He also took a look at the wall switches in the bathroom and kitchen. He suggest getting GFI's for them seeing that there were close to running water. I agreed and had that taken care of, then the bedroom switch was not the proper one for ceiling fan and I had him replace it with the right one, now the fan no longer makes noise. All in all the gentleman was very professional, was very interested in his client and cleaned up after himself. He also gave me his business card in case I have any more trouble with the electric in the bedroom, to call him right away and he would come back out and check things more extensively.
