Rarely would I say a business deserve a solid A rating, but given my experience with Robert Knop of Town Décor, he is absolutely deserving of A ratings across the board. Robert exceeded my expectations by under-promising and over-delivering. It could not have been a better experience and the end result could not be improved upon. To say he did a fantastic job painting my master bedroom and master bathroom (inclusive of all the closets and doors) would be an understatement. I'm a huge stickler for quality and detail - my wife thinks I can be a compulsive perfectionist. All I want is the best possible result. I insist on using the best materials and allowing ample time to avoid rushing or corner cutting. This leaves only one, major variable (that I have no control over): the skill of the painter. At the end of the day, the quality of the finished product comes down to the painter. This is exactly why I use Robert Knop. He is a master painter who produces the finest finished product possible. Having the master bedroom and bathroom out of commission was a huge incontinence. Therefore, it was really important that once the project started, there couldn't be any unanticipated or unexplained interruptions or delays. There weren't any because Robert arrived early, worked hard all day and left late. Additionally, he was easy to work with because he was very responsive to my calls, texts and emails; as well as great about accommodating of our schedules. Bottom line: You can find a more expensive painter, but you cannot find a better painter. This is why Robert is the only painter I will be using in the future and I strongly encourage you to hire Robert if you want your expectations exceeded too.
Description of Work: He painted my master bedroom and master bathroom.

After purchasing a condominium in a vintage building my realtor referred me to Robert Knop of Town Decor for the rehab. I am indebted to her because Robert and his crew showed professionalism in every aspect of this job. It entailed stripping multiple layers of paint from intricate moldings and built in cabinets while at the same time protecting the finish of a parquet floor throughout the space. The plaster walls were expertly repaired. He consulted with me on color and the finish coat was perfect. I was out of town for most of the work and I relied on him to complete the job on time which it was. The building manager actually complemented me on the professionalism he showed the building staff in my absence which made me very happy. The price was not inexpensive but very fair for the high quality of work performed.
Description of Work: All woodwork; moldings, cornices, built in cabinets, doors stripped of six or more layers of paint. Plaster walls repaired. Woodwork sanded. Finish paint to all ceilings, walls and woodwork. Bathroom cabinet spray lacquered off site.

We were referred to Robert by our interior designer who had convinced us to paint our maple cabinets (vs replace them). Although we were a bit skeptical about the outcome, we had Robert come to our house and provide an estimate. His calculations were detailed and realistic (vs other estimates we received) and we liked his overall personalty so we decided to move forward with him. He removed the cabinet doors/drawers, removed all of the existing hardware, filled the holes, and sprayed them in his garage. He then scheduled a few days in our home to sand down and paint the installed cabinets. He was very careful to seal off the areas he was working in from the rest of the house to minimize the spread of dust/debris and when he finished all was cleaned up very well. The cabinets turned out AMAZING - much better then we ever could have imagined. They look as if they were this way to begin with. Since he completed the work, we discovered a couple of small chips/flaws on a door or two and Robert has not hesitated to come back and touch them up - free of charge as part of his warranty! It's rare that you find someone with this kind of work ethic these days. Since we had such a good experience on that project, we have since had him paint our back entry hallway with striped design created by our designer (which came out excellent - was measured precisely and executed flawlessly), paint some rooms, paint a ceiling after a new light installation, and touch up some areas around the home. To our surprise he was even able to help us replace some shower tile that we discovered had been installed incorrectly - we just happened to notice it while he was in the house and he fortunately was able to assist. We will certainly continue to use Robert in the future. He is a true professional and perfectionist. He was a pleasure to have in our home - always careful not to get in the way and very pleasant with a positive outlook. Most importantly, he always honors his word.
Description of Work: refacing/painting all cabinets in our kitchen and butlers pantry, cabinet door and hardware installation, decorative wall painting (series of stripes along rear entry hallway), wall painting (multiple rooms), ceiling painting, bathroom tile replacement, general touch up work

With lots of high walls and lots of room for big mistakes, I was nervous about how my color choices would work. I wanted a painter who would be patient, flexible, and who would patch and paint to my admittedly high level of fussiness. I found my guy in Robert Knop. He's the consummate professional and artist. The work was meticulously executed. When my own color choice disappointed, or if something had to be redone, Robert negotiated with me fairly and worked until I was satisfied. He even took care to minimize the dust created by the extensive plastering. He was my total partner in the process. I couldn't have asked for more.
Description of Work: Robert painted and patched the entire interior of our 2300 sq. ft., 3-bedroom condo... which was not a small undertaking. It's a top-floor unit with two great rooms with vaulted ceilings, skylights and an open staircase leading to our unit's entrance on the floor below.

I have been using Robert Knop's painting service for several years now. I am a realtor in Chicago and refer his name out to all my clients. He is very responsive and the quality of his work supurb. He is reasonably priced and will not leave a mess like some other painters. I recommend him to anyone who has high expectations.
Description of Work: Robert has painted our house before an I just had him come in to do some touch ups and freshen up a couple of walls. The place looks great!

Top notch experience with Robert. He spent the time to make sure the job was completed correctly. His price lower than another Angie's List listing and I was hesitant about the quality before he started due to the price. Once he started, I knew things were going to be good as he laid down drop clothes from the door to the work area as to not risk tracking any paint through the house. No one has every does this for us in the past. The ceiling looks perfect and back room look excellent as well. I highly recommend Robert Knop who will be our painter moving forward. He's also a really nice guy.
Description of Work: We had problems with a radiator leak and needed someone to remove, replace and paint a very large section of the ceiling in the kitchen below the radiator. We also wanted a back room painted. This job required some removal, new drywall, patching (several layers), sanding, primer and ceiling paint. The back room involved ceiling and wall painting.

Excellent. He was prompt and meticulous and faster than I could have imagined. I was doubtful that painting the cabinets was a good idea but the results were superb, it was hard to tell they did not come from the factory that way. His masking and trim work was also excellent, and when he was gone there was no trace he had been there. His price was fair and great value for money. He will be back here to paint when we finish our next rebuilding project. He also gave us good advice about color choices. He mentioned that he also does mural and faux finishes, I'll report on that when we get him to 'frame-out' a decorative element of our kitchen. Highly recommended and a great personality
Description of Work: We had Robert prep and paint the wooden cabinets in a repurposed kitchen, paint three rooms, adding a contrasting trim color.
