Robert's Garage Door Professionals of Chicago

When the previous provider left our condominium parking lot gate broken in the open position, I called Robert's Garage Door Professionals for an estimate on repair or replacement. Robbie performed the estimate at a time that was convenient for me, on a cold night in January; I was grateful not to have to miss work for the appointment. At my request, the estimate included several options for repair or replacement, from least expensive to the most comprehensive and costly. After much delay on my part, coordinating with my neighbors, we opted to replace the circuit board and receiver with a newer (but still inexpensive model), install a photo eye for safety (at Robbie's recommendation), and purchase many new and easy-to-program remotes (also recommended by Robbie). The work was performed exactly according to the estimate and we were very pleased with the result. Several months later, after a robbery in our parking lot, Robert's Garage Door Professionals came back to reprogram our gate and provide new remotes. The provider was extremely responsive and helpful on both occasions.

I called Robert's Garage Door Professionals at about 12:40 PM on Saturday and explained that the hinges on the door snapped. The person I spoke to said a technician would be at my house between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. About 5 minutes later, the technician, Morris, called asking if it was OK if he came early at about 1:15 PM since he was running ahead of schedule. Yes!!! This was going fantastic so far. Morris called when he arrived at about 1:15 PM. Morris took a look at the door and saw the problem with the hinges, the door itself, the track, and caught the spring problem. I had missed that. We talked about the general condition, quality, and age of the door. It was a cheap, old door on it's last legs. It was a cheap old door when I bought my house in 1999. It was on it's last legs when I had to have some rollers replaced and the track re-aligned about 6-7 years ago. I know the door needs replacing, but my schedule won't allow me to replace the door until mid-October and it's just not possible to replace the garage door on a moments notice on a Saturday afternoon. I'm sure there are people who would expect it, but be real, that's an unrealistic expectation. So, I want a new garage door and I also want to be able to put my fairly new car in the garage where it's safe and protected. The deal we worked out was that Morris would make repairs to my garage door so that I can continue to use it and we scheduled a new installation for mid-October when my schedule permits. The repairs to the exist door cost $100.00 and the quote on the new door is very reasonable. Morris fully explained all details of the costs of the existing door repair as well as my options for the new door. He was extremely knowledgeable and professional in presenting my options and answering questions without trying to steer me in any direction, a very pleasant experience. All this and Morris was on his way to his next job by about 1:55 PM. From my initial phone call to job complete was 1 hour and 10 minutes. Fantastic!!! Even if all of this had happened in the originally quoted time frame, it would have still been fantastic. Quality emergency service on a Saturday afternoon, WOW!

After meeting with Nick and deciding on the services we wanted, chose the door style and colors, we received a proposal on the same day as he promised. He placed the order giving us an approximate date for the installation dependent on the arrival date of the material. The doors were installed within a few days of the date. They look terrific and everything works perfectly.

I called because my garage door was off the track. Robert's called back within 10 minutes, scheduled my appointment for a timeframe of 1-3pm the same day and Morris actually came early at 12:30pm :). I would highly recommend Robert's to anyone that needs their garage door repaired.

My old garage opener wasn't mounted properly and fell down. Called a few places to get an estimate on repair and possible replacement and Robert's Garage was one of the 2 companies out of the 3 that was able to come same day to take a look. Initially, worked with Nick who had to remount my garage opener to see if the opener even worked. I appreciated that they took the time to try to fix my original garage opener instead of trying to sell me a new one. This is America, we fix things. Unfortunately, it was beyond repair and had to schedule an install and decided just to get a whole new system (had the old spring system). Morris installed my garage and did an excellent job. I highly recommend these guys - they gave me a great price (I had to do my due diligence to get a few quotes); knowledgeable and explained everything to me but what really tip the scales for me was that hey spent the time to diagnose and try to fix my old opener. Everyone wants to sell you new gear so they can make money but I'm old school, you try to fix it first. Plus Robert's is a family owned company so it's good to give the little guys business.

Very, very impressed with Roberts Garage Door Professionals. I spoke to the owner at 8am on a Monday and by 1pm, Morris had arrived to fix our broken spring. Morris quoted me the cost before beginning the work and was very professional and thorough with his repair. He is also a very nice guy. I will recommend Morris and Robert's Garage Door to others. A description of the work is in order. I wanted a new garage door and electric opener to replace a very old one-piece metal pivot lift door. The original door was an 8x7 foot door with a 1 foot wood panel above fitted in a masonry opening. I wanted the opening to be similar to an adjacent 8x8 foot garage door. I thought it might be difficult, but still doable. I accepted their quote on 5/22. They called and set a date for June 1,2015. On 6/1 they called and said they had truck trouble and rescheduled for June 4. June 4, technician arrived. Measured. Said he was going out to get materials. Returned with another technician and they both looked at the project. They then said that they did not want to take on the project and would send out another technician and would be in touch. I Wrote message through Angie's List. Didn't hear anything again for a week. Called again and explained the situation. Person said they would pass my call on to the owner. Later I received a call from "Robbie" who said he would send someone out and he would take care of the work personally, making sure I was satisfied with the work and the price. Week of June 15th I received a call that Robert's would be out to measure for material. June 17th measurements were taken and Julio came on June 18th and in 5 hours installed a new door and opener. I'm happy with the installation although the cost was a bit pricey considering the aggravation.

This is my second time using Robert's. I'll admit that I was concerned after reading the most recent reviews of the company, however we had a very good experience with them several years ago at our previous home. I called fully prepared to purchase a new door as a number of our neighbors ended up purchasing new doors after having different issues with their doors and our homes were constructed at the same time. I left a message for Robert's after 6:30 on a Wednesday evening and received a call back within 20 minutes offering to send someone first thing in the morning. The tech called the next day to let me know that he would arrive within 30 - 45 mins. He arrived within the stated timeframe. He determined that the door was fine and the motor was not delivering enough power to close and lift the door properly. He had fixed it within a few minutes and suggested lubrication of the hinges and adjustment of the door as it was hanging a little further down into the opening than it should. Great experience, same as the last. I would definitely use again.

Five years ago I used this company and they were timely and professional. This year they blew 2 service calls. I won't be calling them again.

Although another company wanted me to buy a new metal door which would not be in keeping with the style of the house, Robert was able to put in new fittings and install a new opener for far less than other quote. All work was done in one day, although they had to work late. The materials were all cleaned up. The work was scheduled in a timely fashion, and now it works perfectly.

This is the second time we've used Robert's--we recently moved from Chicago to Evanston, and they have now replaced two garage doors for us. The door on our Evanston garage was in terrible shape when we bought the house last year. We knew it was going to give out eventually, and when it did, we called Robert's. They sent Morris out right away--he made a temporary fix for us and then discussed our replacement options. He was very responsive, to both emails and phone calls, as we worked through our decision. When we had decided on the door, Morris came out as planned and swapped out the door (along with new rails and hardware). The garage, which is pretty old, is a bit out-of-square and also a little tighter than most; nonetheless, Morris figured it out. Our door looks and operates great now, and the price seems completely reasonable. Thanks, Robert's!

The provider was punctual and did the work quickly. He explained to me what we could do to keep everything running smoothly. The only negative was we bought a remote from him because one of ours no longer worked. We later realized we could have bought the same remote from Amazon for about 1/4 of the price and programmed it ourselves.

We called "Robert's Garage Door Professionals of Chicago" to fix our garage. They scheduled us for the next day. Right before our appointment time I got a call that their van broke down. They said that they may be able to send someone out around 5pm but that never happened. We used "Chicago Metro Garage Doors" instead. Overall I give them a C but definitely and F for punctuality.

the night before the appointment i described my problem to owner of the company on the phone. he spent a good 20 minutes with me, discusing various alternatives that might explain why my garage door would not close . i scheduled a workman for early the next day. the workman arrived precisely when promised. he quickly diagnosed the problem, and then spent the next 30 minutes correcting it. i could not possibly be more pleased with every aspect of my interaction with this company - their professionalism, punctuality, competence and pricing. i will definitely use this company again in the event that i have a problem with my garage door.

I called them to schedule for someone to come out for a bid. The day of the appointment no one showed up so I had to call and see what was going on. They said they would send out a technician in three hours. The technician could not find my house which I thought was odd. The technician said he would call me next week with a follow up. They never got back to me so in the end it was a big waste of time.

Nick, Robbie's partner and another guy installed two single garage doors and openers for us. They were professional and prompt. They also were nice enough to match a lower price of a different contractor. My only small complaint is with the quality of work. There was a dent on the interior side of the door and then because they had to move the hardware (at my request) there were four holes on the exterior side of the same door. Our doors are slightly different sizes so it would have looked odd with hardware at different spacing. That was something I expected a professional to know and plan for. Nick did stay late and adjusted the hardware until I was happy. Overall we had a good experience

It went really well. After they left the garage door was still open so they came back out the same day to fix the issue. They were very cordial and informative. Our garage is pretty old so they did recommend replacing soon but we did not feel pressured in anyway at all.

I called for garage service, and rather than running over and charging me, he walked me through what he thought was a quick fix for the problem before I scheduled service. He answered all of my questions, was extremely professional, patient, and knowledgeable, and his quick fix actually worked! I am definitely calling him if or when I actually do have a problem with my garage!

Scheduled with this company three days in advance for a garage door repair. They did not show up at the agreed upon time, and all of my calls went unanswered. I took off work to meet with them. I had used them previously and they left broken lightbulb glass and a cigarette butt in my garage, but because they were prompt and cheap, and also very responsive, I thought I would try them again. My fault. Never again.

We called and spoke with John- scheduled an appointment for a Friday afternoon to get an estimate. Took off from work. Nobody ever showed up or called. We called and left a message. Robbie returned our call. very apologetic. rescheduled for a Friday afternoon. Again, took off from work. No show, no call. Will not try to contact again as they have proven that they are not reliable.

It was just fine. It was a little peculiar because after two seconds that he looked up the garage door, he noticed the problem which I had to pay about a $100 extra to get it fixed, but he did show me the part and it looked like worn out, its just that it was a little un-nerving at first that they just decided to do the "Big Deal" so that they could sell more services but I think it was actually needed. He did a good job and I don't have any problem since then.

They did a bate and switch tactic. My home was build in the 40s and the informed me that they are used to doing old home and that they were only going to charge me $120. They sent someone out who did not know what to do to fix it. They had their boss come out and he told me that they cant salvage it and that they need to replace both springs and that it was not going to be $120. They were sloppy on the work that was done and sloppy on the clean up.

The overhead gate (Cornell grille) to our condo building's parking area had slowly fallen into severe disrepair over the course of a few months and was pretty much inoperable. Called a few service providers, and Robert was the only one of the four who wasn't trying to get us to replace the entire grille, and was confident that he could fix the existing setup. Day of, they arrived in the late afternoon, and over about six hours, through rain, a busy alley, and it being dark, completely fixed the gate to the point where it runs perfectly. Robert was great, and I was impressed that they stuck it out into the late night to get everything finished.

Robert was great to work with. He gave us many options to choose from in terms of quality and offered us a great price. We replaced all of our doors in our townhouse complex. Robert delivered everything on time and everythin was efficiently installed. We ordered the best quality doors and I'm glad we did because the doors look brand new a couple years later without a single dent. I was really impressed with Robert's business. He's very trustworthy.

Very polite, professional, and got the job done ASAP. Excellent price.
