I ended up using a different company that had just completed work on a neighbor's house with similar repairs. I would call Redstone again for other work.

Initially my experience w/ Howard and Redstone was a positive one. He seemed knowledgeable, was fairly responsive and scheduling the initial estimate and first round of work was easy. He took time to talk w/ my wife, my co-owner and myself about all the work and explained how he intended for his crew to approach it. The work itself, initially, seemed to go fine and on schedule. To this day, a lot of the work they did seems sound; certainly the gutter work and siding on the garage have held up okay. HOWEVER, those items were secondary concerns for us. Our primary reasons for contacting Redstone in the first place were the falling shingles on what was a relatively new roof AND the major leak we were getting in a first floor bedroom coming from the deck/stair landing from the second floor. In terms of the roof, not only were they supposed to repair the initial falling shingles, but also to inspect the entire roof and secure all other loose shingles as well. Well, we now have more missing/falling shingles, so they clearly did not complete the job. More distressingly, I have not been able to get them to come back to fix the problem despite weeks of calling and some false promises on Howard's part, this despite the fact that they supposedly "guarantee" their work. Also, the work they did around/on the second floor landing to fix the leak, never fixed the leak. To their (partial) credit, they did come back a couple of times to try additional fixes/patches, and each time Howard pledged to us that they would keep working on it until they got it fixed, BUT not only did they not live up to that promise (i.e. never fixed it) but also Howard got increasingly difficult to get a hold of and started (seemingly) dodging our calls. I understand that every time he had to send someone back to do additional work that it meant diminishing returns for him financially, and I was getting so desperate (we weren't able to use that bedroom for over 6 months because of the leak) that I even offered to pay them more, but I still couldn't get them to come back out. Finally, a friend of the family who lives out of town (otherwise I would have had him do the work initially) came to check out our leak. He was able to identify the real source of the problem, which turned out to be door and door sill on that second floor landing not being sealed properly, and fixed it. He also inspected the roofing they did on the second floor landing and noted that it was done incorrectly since there was standing water under the deck/landing, meaning that the roofing hadn't been pitched away from the house properly. Bottom line, Howard and Redstone didn't deliver on their promises and only half of their work was satisfactory. The only reason I don't give them a failing grade is that some of the work was good and everyone was easy to work with initially. That said, I certainly wouldn't recommend them and don't trust any guaranteed from them.

My house was in desperate need of new siding and a new roof and it was easy to see that this was the case. Because of this I received several flyers in my mailbox and on my door for siding quotes. I called two of these companies, got quotes, and signed a contract, with the less pushy of the two contractors - without consulting Angie's List. In the evening after signing the contract I started feeling anxious about my decision, so I decided to go to Angie's List to check out the company. Both companies I received quotes from had some horrible reviews, and things were written by dissatisfied customers that caused me to want out of my contract immediately. So the next day I canceled my contract. I then contacted several companies with 'A' ratings and Redstone was one of those companies. Howard, the owner, came to my home, thoroughly explained the process and my options in a very professional manner. All the pressure tactics of the previous pitches I received were absent from Howard's presentation. In the end I did not go with Redstone simply because one other quote came in lower and my extreme price sensitivity pushed me in that direction. However, I will not hesitate to use them for future work.

I got their name from Angies List and they were close by. He gave me a price but wouldn't write it down. He said that he would email me an estimate in writing. I emailed his company's web page and asked for an estimate but they never sent me that. I had asked for a copy of the estimate when he came here and he told me that he could not give me that right now. He had just given me a verbal estimate. He showed up on time when we scheduled the appointment and looked things over. He seemed knowledgeable and friendly. He did not follow up on email either or call me up again. I would not recommend him because you can't actually use his services. He shouldn't have wasted my time if he had no intention of following up or felt that the job was too small.

Good except the man who installed the Pella's didn't match the color. The owner had another worker redo them to correct this.

Called company on 5/4/11 and Howard answered. I was trying to set up an appointment to have someone drop by and give me an estimate on a leaky roof. When I asked if Saturday was an option, Howard said yes and that he would call me back later in the week to confirm a time. I never heard from him again.

The person that came and did the estimate was very helpful and expanded on some of the ideas I had. He was very helpful both in telling me what could be possible and about other ideas that I had not fully considered. He seemed more a kitchen guy than a window guy. He did not have as much knowledge of the different brands available as I had already been able to get from the internet.

My initial call to Redstone was returned promptly by Howard (the owner). Howard arrived on time to our scheduled meeting. At our meeting, Howard thoroughly explained the scope of the work that needed to be performed; the materials that would be used; and the man hours that would be required. Howard gave an estimate on the spot. A couple hours later Howard called to say while he was preparing the estimate he realized the job wouldn't cost as much as he initally quoted. How often does that happen?!?! We received Howard's written estimate that evening! We thanked Howard for being so responsive, but explained we had solicited bids from two other providers (both from Angie's List) and needed to get some more information before we felt comfortable making a decision. The one provider never did get back to us with an estimate and the other provider gave an estimate over a week later. The second provider's estimate was acutally a little less than Howard's; but we were so impressed with Howard's responsiveness, follow-up, and professionalism we wanted to use him. We were upfront with Howard about the other bid and our desire to use him. Howard met the competitor's price! The work was scheduled to begin one week later. The entire job was performed by one man-- Daniel. Daniel did an excellent job! The job sight was prepared well every morning and cleaned well every evening. The work was performed in a timely manner. And the garage looks great!! We've already asked Howard to give us bids for two more jobs (replacing rear deck on 3 flat and some concrete work). It was a pleasure working with Howard.

They came out within a couple of days of me calling them and saying I had a problem, and they gave me a very thorough bid of the breakdown of everything they were going to do. They called to let me know that they sent the bid over and then asked that I follow up with them. They followed up in a way that was really professional. They started the job immediately. I would use them again.

Overall the job with Redstone went very well. Howard was professional and punctual. Pricing was fair. The job was finished at very close to the projected price and completion date. Howard's subcontractors ranged from good to excellent. We will work with Redstone again.

Our experience was very good. We were very satisfied with their services.

They were excellent! They also did trimming and painting inside around the windows.

Redstone was great. Prompt personal service from the owner. They did exactly what we wanted. The job looks great. They finished on time with no drama. We live in New York, but they took care of everything without us needing to be there at all - and they didn't bother the tenants with too much noise or anything. I would use them again.

The sales rep very personable. They were priced a bit too high for me.

Redstone Builders are meticulous in every way. We needed to make several adjustments as the transformation took place and the staff (especially the lead handyman Jan Dziemian) were very creative in taking our ideas and making them into a reality. We have cabinets in places I never thought would be there, a beautifully stone tiled floor and an amazing pepple stone grotto shower which Jan hand glued pepple by pepple. I could not ask for better service.

Howard and his crew are great. They are truly professionals -- you get a call back and meeting quickly and the quote arrives promptly. After you have contracted with them they arrive when they say they will, they stay on the site to get the job done and clean up after they're done! And, their work looks great. The only minor issue we had was a leak when the roof project was going on -- it rained very hard before they were done with the project and water leaked into the living room. They fixed the issue immediately and painted after the leak was fixed. I would highly recommend Redstone. They have been great to work with.

They did a good job. They are very timely and professional. They follow-up on their promises and deliver what they say.

Mr. Rothstein has been a pleasure to work with. His attention to detail and customer service skills made this remodel a good experience. Mr Rothstein at our first meeting understood our need to update an entire north Chicago family residence and make it a sell able property. The entire house remodel has had no time limit and has gone extremely smoothly. As we near the end of this project I am happy to recommend Mr. Rothstein and Redstone Builders. .

Contractor did not perform any work; just provided estimate.

He arrived on time. We discussed the project and he showed me samples of composite decking. A few days later he provided a written estimate. His esimate came in mid-range. I chose another contractor.

I contacted Redstone Builders for a quote on a large project to completely gut our 30 year old kitchen and our back porch and rebuild it. Howard visited our job site and took a copy of our architectural plans and promptly sent a quote via email. His quote was thoughtful and included rennovation tips and references from previous jobs. His price was comparable to others we received, however we decided to hire another contractor. I would not hestitate to hire Redstone Builders for other jobs.

The owner was the guy that came out and was very professional. They provided a nice written estimate for me. I sold the home and did not have the work done.

I requested an estimate from Redstone for gutter replacement. In the end I used a different service, specifically because Redstone did not handle the type of gutter I decided would work best for my house. I was pleasantly impressed by the representative who came. He took time to explain exactly what needed doing, and provided various estimates based on different materials, etc. I would consider using Redstone in the future.

The interaction was very positive, they did a good job. They still have some minor things to clear up, but overall we were very pleased with the quality of the work and how they conducted themselves. So far they have acted in a professional manner, we do need to see if they will tie up loose ends and do some follow up.

We didn't have any work done. They were fine. They were polite and to the point. They gave us a good quote. Since we were selling our house, we just decided to sell as is instead of replacing the siding. There was nothing negative about them. We would have considered using them in the future except we are moving out of state so it doesn't really apply.
