I have one of those old fashioned security doors with lock on the outside and has a push metal on the outside which was falling off all the time and I was tired of stooping down and picking it up. So I wanted a new lock on there and I wanted all the old paint taken off and I wanted it to look like a new door. I was more satisfied with that job than any job that he had done in my life. He picked it up when he said he would and brought it back a day before he was supposed to bring it back. But he called me to ask me if it was okay since he was going to be in the area and it was done. I was happy to have to back. He did everything that he was said he was going to do and I like that and he did not take up a lot of time unlike others. I will use him again for my side entry door as well. His price was excellent because the same door would have cost me much more and the estimation of the door would have been another thing. The work was well done to the point where I say that you can’t use any other gadget to get behind and move that lock, he did a great job since from the outside you can never say that the lock was replaced and people would only say that I got a new door. I would most certainly recommend him to others. I had no problems with him because the other door that I want him to do, he told me that he was booked for a while but he would call me when he has time for me and I appreciate that rather than stringing me on and not calling me at all.
Description of Work: I used Ray’s Welding to replace an old lock on an old fashioned security door and repaint it.

Ray did extensive welding on our driveway gates and staircase railings. He provided a very fair quote with price options for various levels of finished work. When it became apparent that additional installations were required to meet code, Ray charged for material only and not additional labor. Quality of work was excellent and he completed the work in quick sequence after initial scheduling.
Description of Work: Cut, re-welded, and prime painted the bottom 2" of two driveway and one person gates. Cut out existing steel staircase railing "tabs". Furnished and installed 2" steel bars (4 bars for stair railings and 5 bars for landing railings) to create railing infill for six existing staircase railings. Painted railings to match existing.

Weather was a pain, but willing to work around it and work off normal hours to get the job done. Painted everything he welded Only negative I have is I need him to return and do a bunch more work, but he is so busy! I guess that's what happens when you're one of the rare Chicago contractors that take pride in and care about the work they do versus doing to bare minimum job for as much as you'll pay.
Description of Work: Installed new 6 unit mailbox with new water tight box surround, realigned gate and installed new gate electric buzzer switch. He even re-welded over and tapped some stripped out screw holes, versus just half-assing it like most would. Primed and painted all work he welded.

Very disappointed. Waste of time. Gave a quote but when I asked for designs or details there was delay and finally admitted that he could not complete the job (and certainly not on a timely basis). Explained that this job was time sensitive but did not make a difference and really disappointed. Very nice guy but needed to get job done...

Ray Flores and his team did a great job all the way around. I fully recommend him. Ray was responsive visiting my home, turning around a detailed estimate, then getting the work completed. The work required four days -- two days to prep the iron (grind away rust and then prime) and two days to paint. The team (2-3 at any one time) seemed very good in their trade and worked efficiently and effectively, always leaving the yard tidy. The project was a little challenged with inclement weather and water main construction that created a lot of dust. Both conditions created interruption to the work and caused it to run over a two week period. And while iron is Ray's focus, he agreed to reattach cedar planks of the fence where bolts had loosened or rusted. In fact, to better repaint the iron stakes, his team actually removed the cedar and reattached it. Overall a good experience. Ray was personable and effective. I would hire them again.
Description of Work: Grinded, primed and painted all wrought iron on property (SFH city lot), including a badly rusted stairway and iron poles and braces of a wood cedar fence. Also realigned front and back gate for tighter closure.

Ray and his employee did excellent work for a very good price. He finds cost-saving short cuts when he can. He will make changes as you request. We already have him working on another project for us. Though he isn't immediately responsive when you ask for a quote, he does eventually get in touch and get the job done. Best to call him first and follow up with an email. Don't expect quick turnaround. If you are patient, Ray is the welder for you.

We recently had a break-in to which one of the wooden privacy gates was kicked in and interior and security screen doors/frame work were damaged. After searching on Angies list to find someone to either repair/replace wooden gates and doors, we came across Ray's welding and repair. Ray came out and gave us a quote for the doors and gates. He explained and suggested in detailed that we would be better off having wrought gates as supposed to wooden gates. We agreed to hire Ray to replace the gates as well as installing cage for central unit and security screen in basement ; to which these added on later. Ray and his team did an excellent job in installing everything. He was professional and did exactly what we asked him to do. We will definitely use Ray again for future jobs.

One of our wrought iron gates was off center and wouldn't lock. I called a local company per recommedations, 6 blocks away on a Thursday morning and they said would come out that day or next day. No show no call. I called Rays Welding and Repair which is 7 miles away Feb 24th, he came out next day and emailed me a quote the same day. At the time I called him we just wanted to repair the one gate, but we also asked about puting in a 4 unit mailbox and putting lock hoods on other 2 gates. Ray sent me a quote same day through email. He was very professional in getting back to me either through phone calls, text or emails.. He kept me informed. I needed an afternoon appointment and he accommodated me On March 4th, he came on time and finished the work. Also he noticed something else that I wasnt aware of on one of the gates and repaired at no charge. Thanks Ray Job well done..
Description of Work: Fixed a gate that wouldn't close. Put covers on gate locks on both sides of 3 gates Purchased and installed a 4 unit mailbox on wrought iron fence. Also he noticed one gate had 2 other issues that I hadn't noticed and repaired at no extra charge.

Raymundo Flores is a complete professional. I found his service on Craig's List, he responded immediately and professionally setting up an appointment. Our gate shrunk in the Winter and swelled in the Summer preventing it from closing properly. He met with one of the unit owners who stated the proposed resolution sounded feasible. After work was performed, Raymundo gave an overview of services and what would be needed in the future. Very proactive and informative. The other unit owners (one of whom is a contractor) raved about the service and were relieved the gate was finally fixed professionally. Telisha Emerson Menard Manor

I called and spoke to Ray on Nov 11 about a quote for putting an iron fence around our new home. On the same day I emailed Ray a detailed description of the work. As of Dec 1, I never received a call back or response to my email. If someone asks for a quote, even if you are not interested in the job you should at least reply in some fashion. Very unprofessional and disrespectful.

The metal strip that ran across the front porch step of our condo unit had rusted off. While removing the strip, he noticed that the cement behind the metal bar was in poor condition. He notified me and asked first, if I'd like to fix this issue before welding on the metal strip. I told him yes, and he was able to take care of everything in a very prompt manner. He initially came out to give a quote, and after hearing how much his price is reduced (compared to other welders I spoke to), I asked if he would be able to fix it on the spot, and he did! He did an excellent job and will use him again in the future.
Description of Work: Fixed/welded the metal strip that was falling off on our front step.

We contacted Mr.Flores last week and informed him of our desire to fix 2 hinges on a wrought iron fence. He responded that he would stop by to have a look at the door and give us an estimate. We thought that the estimate was fair as another company wanted to charge us double. We were rained delayed so he was able to fix it the next day...very professional, and honest! We will recommend him to anyone! Thank you for the great work, looks amazing!

On 8/31/13, I contacted the above provider based upon the reviews in Angie's List to have a hand railing installed going down my front bungalow's steps. This was via telephone. He requested that I send pictures of the front of my home with estimate of the length of the railing to him via email. This I did. He gave me a quote, which was acceptable and said that he could do the job. I thought he needed to come and see the job and I was told that the he would do just that. I also gave him my address and telephone number. I informed him that the job needed to be done before the last week of September. This was via email on 9/8/13. On 9/9/13, Ray stated that he would come by to take measurements and that the job will be completed before the last week of September. The job was never started thus it has not been completed. I have not heard from the provider since 9/9/13. All emails regarding the above are available for review.

Not well. He took my railing to paint he was then suppose to come back and reinstall but he would reintall because of the new concrete step that were poured. I told him to just bring them back so the other contractor would come back to install them. He will not answer my calls unless I call from a different number. I gave him a 50% down payment. I am completely frustrated at this point and do not feel like I should be treated like this. I was suppose to reciece a 10% senior discount but I have only received 5%.

Great. He replaced original work done to 2 doors which was unsightly. He also did work on two additional doors. By the time I saw finished product on one door, I couldn't wait for him to finish all of the doors. The work (including painting) was done very professionally. And they kept the area surrounding their work area clean and orderly. I plan to have them back again for new gates/fences in the very near future.
