+ -1 moreI corresponded with Pro Computers via email to get an idea of pricing and if they could do the work. I dropped off the PC on a Monday evening and the DVD was ready for pick up by Wednesday. All the files I needed were on the DVD, and I was very pleased! Original quote was $89 flat fee.
Description of Work: I needed data and files (photos, word documents, etc) transferred from an old PC running Windows 98 first edition onto a DVD.

+ -1 moreMr. Military was able to restore the Master Boot File and return my computer to its original state prior to the installation of Ghost 2003. All my data was intact. In addition, he installed a back-up program that was compatible with the hard dive and is working beautifully. Mr. Military was very easy to work with and provided an extremely quick response. I highly recommend the company.
Description of Work: My hard drive was repartitioned by Ghost 2003, a software used for making backup copies. The repartitioning hid Windows XP and much of my data, so I no longer was able to access Windows or my data. I am fairly sophisticated about computers but even by following the manufacturer's (Symantic)steps for fixing the problem, I could not do so. I had much critical data on the drive which I could not afford to loose.

+ -1 moreFlorian is wonderful to work with! He was prompt in returning my calls and came at 5:00pm on the dot both times. It was a relief that he was willing to come over at 5:00pm. The first visit lasted two hours and he worked very efficiently. The price included two hours of work and the memory he put in. Although Angie's List said he takes credit cards, he really preferred a check. He was very polite and friendly, and explained everything in understandable ways. (I'm one of those people who really doesn't want to know too much and just have a computer that works!) I did not feel rushed or like I bothered him with my very long list of questions and things to check out. I will definitely be calling him again with any questions or problems. Florian is terrific!
Description of Work: My printer stopped communicating with my laptop, and Florian came to my house and identified the problem and downloaded a patch. I also had a problem that when a screen would come up with a form the writing was so tiny I couldn't read it, and he fixed that. He also did an over all tune up: adding more memory so it would download faster, checking out the security on my laptop and installing automatic downloads, downloaded Foxfire, which works better than Internet Explorer, discovered my floppy drive doesn't work, and helped educate me by answering many questions. When my computer stopped talking to my printer again the next day, he came back, discovered that my start up programs start quicker than the printer was able to connect, and then showed me how to easily connect it after everything else was running. The second time he was at my house for about 15 minutes and didn't charge me.

He gave a realistic estimate of the time required to check out my flash drive as well as the chances of recovering the data on the drive. He kept his office open just a few minutes past closing to give me time to get there on public transportation.
Description of Work: This company attempted to recover data from a flash drive no longer being read properly by multiple computers. After multiple attempts to recover the data, it was determined to be unrecoverable. They returned my flash drive and didn't charge a thing.

+ -1 moreI TOOK MY LAPTOP TO GET REPAIRED AT ANOTHER COMPANY. I HAD A LOOSE POWER CONNECTOR THAT I WANTED FIXED BEFORE MY WARRANTY EXPIRED. THEY GAVE IT BACK TO ME TELLING ME THAT MY MOTHERBOARD WAS BAD EVEN THOUGH I GAVE IT TO THEM IN WORKING CONDITION. THE OTHER COMPANY REFUSED TO HELP SO I TOOK IT TO PRO COMPUTERS FOR ANOTHER ATTEMPT AND A SECOND OPINION. PRO COMPUTERS CAME UP WITH THE SAME DIAGNOSIS AFTER ATTEMPTING A REPAIR ON A CONNECTOR DESTROYED BY THE OTHER COMPANY. FLORIAN OF PRO COMPUTERS WAS VERY HELPFUL. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THESE GUYS. THEY APPEAR TO BE VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AS WELL AS HONEST.

Description of Work: THE FIRST SERVICE PERFORMED FOR US CONSISTED OF CLEANING OUR COMPUTER OF ADWARE AND SPYWARE, AND REINSTALLING ANTIVIRUS AND FIREWALL SOFTWARE($75). WE WERE ADVISED THAT WINDOWS ME WAS UNSTABLE (WHICH WE HAD HEARD AND KNEW TO BE TRUE) AND IT WAS SUGGESTED WE THINK ABOUT AN UPGRADE TO WINDOWS XP. BECAUSE SUCH A GOOD JOB WAS DONE GETTING THE COMPUTER TO RUN SMOOTHLY THE FIRST TIME, WE WENT BACK TO HAVE A BACKUP OF SOME OF OUR FILES AND TO INSTALL WINDOWS XP, AS WELL AS REINSTALLING THE ANTIVIRUS AND FIREWALL($145). FLORIAN ALSO LOOKED AT A LAPTOP TO FIND OUT IF THE CD DRIVE COULD BE UPGRADED. HE WAS ABLE TO INVESTIGATE AND FIND OUT THAT IT COULD NOT BE DONE FOR THE PARTICULAR MODEL OF THE COMPUTER.($45). IF IT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE, WE WOULD HAVE DEFINITELY HAD THE WORK DONE THERE.
