One day there was a picture on the computer monitor and the next day there was none. Three months ago, I had a terrible computer service experience. This time I checked Angie's List and, after reading many reports, chose highly rated Pro Computers . I took the computer to their store. I was charged a $49.00 diagnostic fee that would be used toward any repair needed. They promised they would call me within two days and they followed through with that promise. The problem was a defective modem. They removed the modem and explained that it did not need to be replaced because I do not use dial-up internet service. The computer repair was completed the next day. The technician called and I picked up the computer. There was no additional charge. I put my computer back together the next day and it is fine. I never would have guessed that a defective modem could cause the picture on the monitor to be lost.

Very well. Pro Computers was able to repair the hinge instead of replacing it, saving me money. They also replaced my laptop screen (Dell) at a reasonable price. They got it done within 2 days, which is amazing. I will definitely return here to repair my computer if it needs it.

The diagnosis was done quickly and I agreed to the MB replacement. Chris had a difficult time sourcing the board as the first vendor failed to supply the order. With the board in hand the repair was completed quickly. Chris tried hard to repair windows installation so I would not have to reinstall the programs. When that failed he provide backups. The price was very good, Pro Computers actually obtained a board for $100 less than I could find it.

These guys have saved me from more computer jams than I can list! As a small business owner I own (and have owned) a small handful of computers (desktops, laptops, and netbooks) at any given time, and I know that it's not a question of if something will fail, but when. And as much as we backup and provide for redundancies, it is a hassle everytime something does down. In addition to the inconvenience, there is lost worker productivity, and because our work is so computer intensive, very often it means we cannot properly serve our clients. My computer (a desktop Dell), although it had been previously water damaged from a flood earlier this year, was working fine until I decided to turn it off one night. After that, it wouldn't come back on. I suspected the water damage because the same thing happened to a second computer which was also involved in the same flood. It was not worth fixing the first one (I also had proComputers look at that one for me) as it would cost more than a new computer and I had a rarely used laptop that my assistant could use instead. But when the second computer failed it became a problem, because replacing that one would also mean it was time to update my entire netowk...and with thousands of dollars in flood damage this summer (not covered by insurance) it would be the worst time to spend money I didn't have. I was afraid that PRO Computers would tell me the same thing, that this CPU was also dead and that the info on it was unrecoverable. However, that was not the case! They were able to recover my info and files from the old computer. But they needed to replace several of the water damaged parts. Yes, it cost about as much as the computer when I bought it new last summer, but it saved me the expense of having to upgrade my entire network at this time, which I was happy with. Also, they originallty told me that they could save my documents, but that I would need to reload all of my programs and applications, which I was fully prepared to do. However, when I went to pick up my computer, they told me they did something (I think they said imaged the drive or something?) so that they were able to restore ALL of my info, programs, and settings to the way they were before my computer malfunctioned. I came come and plugged my computer in and it was literally as if nothing ever happened, everuything was back to normal! I could not have been more pleased. This was probably the 5th computer I have brought to these guys over the years. They have saved me, my computers, my business and my life more times than I can count. Both laptops and desktops, they are simply amazing at what they do. Okay granted, I am not in the least bit tech savvy so what they do seems like magic to me. But they perform their magic with the utmost skill and professionalism, and have even recycled computers/computer parts for me so I don't have to deal with it. I can't say enough good things about Florian and his team. It is reassuring to have them "on my team" and to know that whenever I have a problem, I have competent, honest professionals I can turn to, who 9 times out of 10 will make everything better and with minimal disruption/downtime to my business. Simply amazing!

Everything went smoothly. After dropping off the laptop on Thursday evening, I received an email Friday afternoon letting me know everything had been completed. I had feared that the laptop's case was more severely damaged, but they only made the repairs that were necessary and did not add unneeded fees.

I took my laptop in on a Tuesday evening, received a confirmation email that evening. The next day I received another email with a price estimate for the data recovery services. I confirmed via email and a couple hours later my laptop was ready for pickup. Pro C saved the data recovery items onto the external hard drive I had brought in. When I picked up my laptop and external hard drive, the Pro C employee (Chris - I think) told me to make sure I check the external hard drive to make sure the date recovery was complete and not to send in my laptop for repair until I had done so. He said if he had missed anything, to bring both items back. Good advice! On both days I was there, both employees were very nice, helpful and professional. They both agreed that I had a good laptop (it's only 3 months old) and that it was probably a motherboard issue since the hard drive was fine. As of this review date, my computer is with the manufacturer for repair. If my computer was not under warranty, I would easily have had it repaired at Pro C.

Laptop was repaired and ready in 2 days, I picked up in 5 days and had no bad experience with the sales counter. The guy was nice to me and I was in and out of the shop both times. No trouble with workmanship, even installed new connecter.

Their stellar service prompted me to go to them for a second, unrelated issue. My old desktop needed upgrading. I brought my own parts and Chris was only too happy to discuss what would be done in layman's terms. Unlike other places which require you to buy parts from them, PRO was happy to install and test the gear I'd bought elsewhere. They also repaired an installation I tried to do myself with no fuss or condescension. It's a no-brainer to take your computer to these folks for repairs and updates. Keep up the great work!

Very fair and honest old computer. They were able to do enough to get up and going without spending a fortune.

I was very pleased with their service from beginning to end and will definitely go back to them for any future computer needs. I initially got their name from Angie's List in the first place so this certainly validates why I belong to Angie's List. Use them with 100% confidence-I highly recommend their services. I was also really happy with how courteous and professional the staff was. They never made me feel that any of my questions were "dumb" or hesitated to be of help. Stay away from outsourced technical support calls from India-run to Pro Computers!

Don't waste your time on this company if you're in the suburbs!

From the start, the folks a PRO Computers were friendly and professional. They treated me with respect as a customer, patiently explaining the likely problem, the recommended solution and the likely cost. There was no upselling of services and they even recommended good anti-virus and anti-spyware software that was free!

Service was completed in two business days as promised and haven't had any problems with PC operation to date. Had to contact PRO Computers after picking up my PC to find out where my saved files were stored. This should have been explained when I picked up the PC. It would also help if they had provided instructions on where/how to move those files. It took me quite a while to figure it out and I still haven't been able to restore my old email messages. In the past, I've used an independent PC repair guy who does everything on site. He probably would have reinstalled all my software and moved the saved files to their appropriate locations. PRO Computers was a good alternative when my regular guy wasn't available.

The cost of my repair was less than estimated. Check-your-order feature on the Web site is helpful. Repair was performed in a pretty timely manner. But I wound up having to call to ask about the progress. When I got to the business to pay, I mentioned I am an Angie's List member and was told that I had to bring a printout of the coupon to the store in order to get the discount ? which would have paid the tax and more on my repair. I was disappointed overall in the quality of the customer service. Also, my computer does not recharge correctly since the repair; an initial call to the business to complain drew a response that the charge mechanism must have been broken before the repair. That wasn't the case, and we specified it before the repair. I've decided to grin and bear the reduced functionality rather than return to this business.

Had a diagnostics done that was suppose to be a more refined process than the Utility Progrm I had which pointed to a motherboard issue as I had suspected, however, they are unable to print out a report of that diagnostic which I found odd since evry other utility prgm I have can print one out. Their est on repair was a bit high but said they would work w/ me if I provided the parts which I did and Florian applied diagnostic cost to labor which resulted in a good price break and overall cost, Communication was a bit lacking w/ the desk clerk, never got the phone calls or notices as promised. I got an email a few days later when it was ready rather than a call. Just a little more professional communication would be nice, I don't bit. Florian is the man to deal w/ directly. In the end I appreciate the repair & reasonable costs. Please print diagnostics.

Performed the service without effecting the files on my computer. Offered me anti-viral software at a reasonable price, and contacted me before installing. Honored Angie's List coupon with no hassle. If I ever have a computer issue again, I'm taking my computer here without question. It's also located conveniently on the northside of Chicago, so it was very easy to drop off the computer.

After my laptop 'died' I found Pro Computers on AL. I had used another person that was highly rated on AL but was not satisfied with his performance. I believe I spoke with Francisco who explained their procedure: diagnosing the problem would be $49 which would be applied to the repair if I chose to have said repair performed. The diagnosis took about 48 hours from the time I dropped it off. Chris called to tell me that my motherboard and inverter were bad, that the repairs would cost over $600. That could buy another laptop. The hard drives were fine and I could use them as external drives so that none of my information was lost. They sold me a part that would enable the hard drives to be used as external drives. They charged me about $49 for the part and that included the diagnostic. I found out later with research that the part goes for around $15, but I would have been happy to pay for the diagnostic plus the $15, so I felt I got more than my money's worth. When I picked everything up, Chris took his time explaining how the new part worked and other questions that I had.

Great..much cheaper than quote from Dell.

They came in and they seemed to know what they were doing. They responded in the same day when I asked them to come back and do something else.

got a simple estimate via email. dropped the computer off before we left for vacation and picked it up after we got back. could not have been easier. Pro Computer will definitely be my first contact for future computer issues.

It took them a couple of days to fix the computer. The staff and management were excellent. They fixed the problem and now its running fine. They did what I needed and they got back to me. They did what they said they would.

This company was easy to get in touch with. They were really accommodating and seemed to know what they were doing. They have nice business hours, they stay open late. I like them a lot and they solved the problem.

Did rebuild hard drive in a timely manner, but when some of my programs and data did not work they did not want to help me.
