The room divider went well. The cabinet I bought from the place he sent me had a broken hinge. I went and got a new hinge and he never came back to install it. He would not answer my phone calls for weeks. I went away for Christmas and we made and appointment and he never showed up. I got a hold of him again and explained my frustrations about him not showing up and we made a second appointment and he stood me up again. I ended up hiring someone else to finish the project. He charges $80 dollars an hour and I wanted him to pay me back $40 for having to hire the other person to finish the work and $15 dollars for some hooks he asked me to buy him while I was at Ikea for his personal use. He refused. Do not hire Jeremy. After hiring another person to finish the project and comparing the two contractors work, I see that Jeremy's craftsmanship is poor. He did not hang the cabinet well and when he put the hood up, he ended up scrapping/scratching the cabinet by forcing the hood in. I kept saying that it did not look like it would fit, but he forced it and ended up damaging the cabinets. He also recommended a painter to me that I used and she ended up doing a poor job as well and damaged my freshly refinished floors.
Description of Work: Jeremy removed 12 inches of a room divider and installed a kitchen cabinet. He installed a butcher block that I bought and he hung a hood over the stove. He did not do any of the electronic or gas connections for the hood.

Some of the details of the member's review are correct, and I did let phone calls from her go unreturned, but the tone is not in keeping with the relationship we had over the course of the very small job that I did, during which time she repeatedly told me that my assistance was a "godsend" and she called me several times for advice and direction. I should note that in the course of the job, the member mentioned that she was in dispute with, and considering lawsuits against her real estate agent, her painter, the home inspector, the former owners of her condo, her movers, and a masonry company doing work on the building. I believe she regrets the home purchase and has soured on every aspect of the purchase and the work she had done. I firmly stand behind the quality of my work, and am committed to building and sustaining relationships with clients. I completed two small but substantial jobs for The Member--moving one non-loadbearing wall, and removing, modifying and re-installing some kitchen cabinets. She was very pleased with each job, and expressed her desire to hire me for additional work. She called about a third job, which was to install an addition couple of cabinets in her kitche. She was very sensitive to cost, and to save money asked if she could purchase all of the materials. I advised her on places to get the materials, and while the other jobs had been done on bid, I told her this job would have to be hourly, since I couldn't fully assess the job until I had the materials. The Member's home, even twice showing up, with tools, to find that that the materials that she had purchased would not work for the job. I sympathize with her desire to save money by purchasing the materials for the job herself, but I cannot take responsibility for her mistake. I charged only for the work that I completed.

Jeremy was contacted to provide an estimate for our basement and bathroom remodel. He failed to supply the estimate and repeatedly ignored attempts on our part to contact him for the information. I finally received a return call 3 weeks after the estimate was originally due. Jeremy stated that he did not return my earlier communication attempts because he decided he could not complete the project within our preferred timeline. When I explained to him that we would be willing to negotiate the timeline and then that his method of non-communication was not the best way to secure future work from us, he seemed to not care and felt he had done what was required by leaving us hanging. This was particularly offensive since prior to his failure to submit a quote, I had contacted him regarding other projects, and was impressed with how he assisted me even though I couldn't hire him at the time. Based on this experience, I suggested his services to a friend who ultimately hired him for a kitchen remodel. Given that I already helped him acquire work and would happily do it again, I was shocked when he choose to rebuff my attempts to hire him. Definitely a waste of time, especially for a mom of 3 year old twins.
Description of Work: Jeremy Kirk was contacted to provide an esimate to convert our unfinished basement into a safe and functional playroom for our 3 year old twin boys. The job also included a complete bathroom remodel and stairway remodel. Jeremy reviewed the project on site at our residential property, and stated he would contact us with an estimate within 5-6 days.

The last time I spoke with the member, I called her--as her review reports--to let her know that I did not have time in my schedule to complete the job for which she had requested a bid. I was surprised that she was so offended. In no way did I intend to inconvenience her, and certainly didn't take the time to look at the job with the intention to reject the work. Additionally, the Member was clear in discussions that she was seeking multiple bids. About a year prior, I submitted a bid to the Member for a separate job, and when she called the second time, she mentioned that the previous bid was not actually for work she wanted done, but was to be used in negotiation to sue a previous contractor. This information may have dimmed my enthusiasm, and given the sourness with which she accepted my decision to not submit a bid, I am indeed glad that I did not pursue the job.

Jeremy Kirk made a beautiful and sturdy bookcase to our specifications. Jeremy responded quickly to an initial email and made two trips to measure for the bookcase. He politely asked the appropriate questions, provided wood samples and provided drawings to confirm our specifications. The delivery date was postponed by a couple of weeks, but it was worth the slight wait. We are delighted by the finished results! We would use Jeremy again without hesitation. This, by the way, is after working with a carpenter/woodworker who had lower pricing, ruined our wood floors and failed to deliver a bookcase. So we unfortunately have a basis for comparisoin.

Very well. Jeremy is very polite, professional and was easy to deal with. The price was a little more than I had intended on spending, but was well worth it in the end. You get what you pay for ultimately! I had a previous estimate from a handyman for half the price, but the guy never showed up. Jeremy did a great job.
Description of Work: Built a wine storage area underneath basement stairs. I did the demolition myself (the before photo of the space) and Jeremy came up with a quick design and built the unit. He used bead board and solid oak for the wine storage area. Now I have to decide if I should stain it or not... Hmmm...

Jeremy did an excellent job. The closet looked as if it was an original part of the room. He was very neat and quiet as a mouse. I have already recommended him to my neighbors.

Jeremy always came on time, and showed up promptly for the initial estimate. To match the modern decor in our condo, he created a pocket door to a room that was initially a office, that was to be a new baby's room. He also redid the drywall that they had to tear down to get to the inside of the wall. He even pointed out and fixed some mistakes made by our contractor within the walls. Jeremy also sound-proofed a few walls by inserting insulation and wood pieces.
Description of Work: They put in a wooden pocket door, replaced hallway doors, sound-proofed certain walls that never had insulation to begin with.

THE WORK: Jeremy Kirk and his assistants did a wonderful job of replacing the rotted wood and he even had a suggestion for how to make our original solid wood door fit better to block the cold (he rehung it with much effort.) Jeremy is a really nice and a knowledgeable carpenter; his work shows this. THE SCHEDULE: Jeremy apparently had a perfect window for our project when we set out to get the permit. Unfortunately, due to permit problems, once we'd secured it, he was no longer as available. He called several times to indicate a day he would come but on several occasions, he didn't show. He would then leave us another message about the next time he might be available but this continued a few times. It got frustrating for us. When he did finally did the work, he worked very hard, even into the dark night.
Description of Work: The front portico on our 1896 house had some portions of rotted wood which needed to be replaced before we repainted the house exterior. It included a small amount of mill work off-premises but mostly on-premises carpentry.

The project went very well. After the initial estimate, there were several iterations of the design. Jeremy played a part in the design, along with the architect, which made it much easier to identify exactly what had to be built. Once the design was laid out, everything went fairly smoothly, with minimal time overruns. Jeremy also dealt directly with the metal shop that produced the zinc countertop. I am very satisfied with the final result. In the four months since the project was completed, there have been no issues with any of Jeremy's work.
Description of Work: I contracted Jeremy Kirk and Plane Carpentry to build a counter/bar, bar-style seating and tables for a new coffee shop. There were drawings from the very beginning, but they were changed several times during the project. Overall, there was a fair amount of flux, and a number of decisions had to be made along the way.

He was the first one to return my email when I asked for a quote. Just the way he replied gave me a lot of confidence. I asked for 2 more quotes in different places and the price difference wasn't much, but I decided to ask him to perform the job because he sounded very knowledgeable and polite. I wasn't wrong! The benches turned out to be exactly what I wanted. The quality of the work done was excellent & the whole experience was very good. I would recommend Jeremy to anybody.
Description of Work: I needed some benches that would work for both, my breakfast bar and dining table. Since I couldn't find exactly what I needed, I designed some stackable benches with the exact dimensions & Jeremy made them for me.

Jeremy is very knowledgeable, well educated, and very easy to work with. I wish more contractors were like him! He showed up a few minutes early to meet me for the quote (one day after I first called him). He gave me some great advice on how he could fix the door so I'd have the best final product, while still keeping time and price in mind. My biggest concern was that the door had to be operational by the end of each work day (I couldn't leave it boarded up over night for safety reasons). Jeremy started the project early in the morning and true to his word the door was hung and fully operational by 5:30pm the same day. He did a beautiful job on a project that many others wouldn't even touch!!!
Description of Work: Repaired a vintage, solid wood entrance door. Included milling some custom molding to replace broken pieces, and a small amount of staining (to match existing color). Removed door so he could repair it in his shop, and temporarily boarded up the doorway while working on the door.
