Description of Work: Called to get an estimate for lawn clean up and transplanting a few plants. Said they would drive by and call with a quote. When I hadn't heard from them after a week, I called again but a recorded message said they were not taking any new jobs.

Originally chose Patches without looking to see if they were listed on Angie's list (first mistake) because they were around the corner from my house and i wanted to support a neighborhood business. I reviewed all of the job details with Darcy (who was extremely nice) and decided to go with them. The job was scheduled and i was told initially that it would be a 2 day job, i day to prep the yard and 1 day for installation. My back yard was in bad shape and had a lot of weedy grass and general weeds including milk weeds. They were shown this during the initial inspection. issues: The landscapers did not do an initial day of prep. they came 1 afternoon for about 5 hours, which in even the most efficient workers seems too short a period to correctly prep and install the sod. following the work the rose bush required additional trimming because they only trimmed around the base but did not address the branches that were blocking the sidewalk and which were actually extending across a 4ft wide side walk and into my neighbors yard. the tree trimming was done but also required additional trimming. I completed the trimming on both the trees and the rose bush. The major issue was that 3 weeks later when i did the first mowing i noticed several brown areas, and worse yet the grass was covered with wild grass, vine weeds and even a couple milk weeds growing up through the sod. I have NEVER!!! had weeds come up through sod during the 1st year of installation since the ground is usually treated to prevent this prior to the installation. I had already paid the balance for the service by the time i realized the issue. I did contact Darcy and she came over and looked at the grass. I also shared pics with her of the issues with the bushes and trees, although i had already resolved these on my own. She agreed that there was a problem and asked that i send her copies of the pics i took. this interaction took place about 2 week after the initial grass cutting and just prior to the second cutting. I forwarded before and after photos to patches. Prior to this and after the first mowing, i called the company and spoke with a gentleman e: the brown patches. His only comment was that i probably needed to rake the areas because it was the cut grass ...NOT! As noted, the pics were sent and there has been no further contact from the company. Each time i call i just get an answering machine. I have left messages indicating i would like a return call to resolve this issue since each time i cut the wild grass is thicker and thicker. i have been informed that i should not put any weed killer on the grass until next year, by which time i am fearful that the sod grass will possible have been killed off by the invading weeds and grass. the front lawn which had no weeds initially is fine, which further supports my feeling that this issue stems from poor or completely absent prep. i am VERY disappointed by this company, will never use them again and have already recommended that my neighbor, who was also looking for someone to do her yard, not to use them.
Description of Work: installation of sod back yard and front parkway. trimming of extremely large rose bush extending across path to garage and concrete patio in back of house, trimming of neighbors trees extending over fence.

The fall clean up never happened. I called twice. The first time was told by Meghan that they would do a drive by for a quote for clean up for front and back yard of our corner property as well as our two parkways. I never heard back on this quote, so I called a second time. By this point it was hitting early November. Once we got the quote their schedule was full and had to wait a couple of weeks. By the time we had a scheduled day (that I had to follow up on to find out when it was) it snowed and so the clean up never happened. We contacted for a spring clean up as well this year in early March, again was told would do a drive by and then quote it out. I never heard back on this, but called a couple of weeks later to inquire about a full landscape and hardscape project in our back yard. Matt came out on April 4th, a Friday. He listened to what we wanted, and was knowledgeable, but didn't have time, nor bring a tape measure, to do any of the measurements/dimensions. He told me he would swing back by on Monday to measure, etc, and also told me he would make sure they got us our spring clean up quote so could get that done asap. He never called and never came back. Our yard is pretty much a blank slate and our needs fairly common and simple. I am done chasing after this company to get any work done. Apparently Patch must have enough business that they don't need mine.

From the beginning, we complained that there were dead areas in the new lawn. We were told to water the lawn, which we did, along with watering nearby beds where everything was thriving. Our continuing concerns and complaints were left unanswered despite repeated emails. Only when I stopped paying for maintenance did they respond to my emails and tell me that they would come out to see the lawn--and even that took repeated emails because the GM was "so busy." They never met with us to review our concerns, and instead resodded a small part of the front lawn, leaving the other spotty and dead areas of the lawn untouched. The GM then blamed the condition of the lawn on "shade" and told us to cut down trees. Clear that they will not accept responsibility for a bad job.
Description of Work: Patch failed at a resodding project for our front lawn.

Decided to simplify my life a bit and use my neighbors service. Patch does both properties every week. The only difference is they do the neighbors back and front, which leads to a small but annoying problem. They blow debris from their back yard thru/under/over the fence which leads to a messy stone patio for me. Which I keep pristine if I do say so myself :) Since they only do my parkway (which they do well) it must not ocurr to the crew that there's an issue. I tried to arrange it with the office at first, but the contracts couldn't be "personalized" and seemed all or nothing in regards to my back area.Since they arrive early when I am usually in the shower, I haven't been able to catch them before they are gone. Other than that the parkway always looks tidy.

His name is Patrick Hulne. I use them weekly and I've signed a contract with them from spring clean up to fall clean up. They are very tidy and they are willing to do a little extra stuff for me if I needed. I've had really good consumableof workers who have been working together for a long time and they work very efficiently.
Description of Work: I used Patch Landscaping & Snow Removal for lawn maintenance. They put a huge amount of mulch on my flower beds and also did some extra work on my back lawn with fertilizing and grass seeds. I've used them for a couple of years.

I called twice in the spring to get quotes on landscaping; no one ever called back. I called twice in the fall for quotes on snow removal; no one ever called back. If they do not want more business, they should say that on the phone and not pretend they will get back to you.

The results are excellent. We had a pretty tight time frame, and I know there were some challenges for him working around the developer's team. Everything looks great - it is consistent with the neighborhood and reflects most of what we had discussed at the initial consultation. My only complaint is that on a couple of occasions we did not get responses as quickly as had been promised, and there was some confusion as to whether I (the new owner) was in charge or if the developer was still calling the shots. In the end it all looks great, but some compromises were made that I might have decided differently. They also took a really long time to tell us--after offering to get a quote and seeming eager for the business--that they would not be able to provide regular lawn maintenance this season as their schedule is full. Which is reasonable, but I just wish we'd had more consistent communication. It may be because I strongly prefer email communication (job, baby, etc) at odd hours, and I may have had better results on the phone.

I had taken a bid from another landscaping company and the quote was nearly identical in price. I went with Patch because they had done similar work for a neighbor two doors away and I loved her front yard renovation. Matt telephoned me a day or two after I phoned in my request for a quote. He came over immediately and made some suggestions. I liked his ideas and he put together an estimate and emailed it to me that evening. I changed my mind about a couple of plants and the estimate was amended almost instantly, again via email, even though Matt was out-of-state at the time. I accepted and signed the new quote and within one week the work was complete. Matt telephoned me the day before the work was scheduled to let me know what time the crew would arrive. They arrived on time and non-stop until the project was complete. They worked quietly, efficiently and cleaned up as they went along. My next door neighbor was home at the time the work was being done and she later commented that she didn't even realize any thing was going on. She was shocked to walk out and see the beautiful result.

Wanting to us a local service(patch is located a few blocks away) we call patch several times always getting an answering machine. Upon reaching someone and speaking about our project patch came by and sent us a proposal for $225 for spring cleanup of front and back yard including cut grass, fertilize, aerate, seed bare spots, power rake, edge etc. we then set an appointment for them to come perform the work. They did not show up or call on there scheduled day. We attempted to contact them only to get the voice message. Upon contact with patch we set another date for the work, again same thing happened. Patch set and didnt show up a total of four times over two weeks. The final time they didnt show upas scheduled as we were able to get in touch with the office. We told them to cancel us from the schedule we do not want to do business with them because they are unreliable. The lady on the phone proceeded to say they were coming that day. I explained how they have not showed up for four appointments and we now wanted the front yard prepped for sod(sod to be installed later after porch project) patch said they would prep the front for sod at no additional ca]harge and lower the original estimate from $225 to $175 for all the trouble and a crew was on there way. I actually drove home from work to see if they showed up and they did. The guy that was there explained to me that the were the brick paver crew and they dont usually do the spring cleanup. We went over what needed to be done with the office girl confirming on the workers radio. When I returned home that night I discovered they did about half the job. Only half of the front yard was removed and prepped for sod and the back yard was not aerated and only 1/4 of the bare spots were patched. At this point I gave up on patch and was called another landscaping company to finish there job. A few days later I received a bill from patch for $575.00. When I called patch they refused to talk to me about the bill and would only correspond through email. I Have requested to speak to the company owner or a manager several times with no response but I continue to receive $575 bills from them. Patch is very unreliable and unprofessional. I will gladly pay them for the portion of the work they performed if Someone from there office would call me back.

Patch predicted it would take 4 days, but with some weather delays and with another job taking a little longer, the entire project took 5. Was kept well informed of their progress and when they expected to do what job the entire time by email and phone. The level of communication, from the time the plans were drawn, to an explanation of the estimate, to the actual install was very good. A crew of 6-8 did an incredible amount of work in a 5 day time span. The finished product came out much better than I expected. I called several other landscape companies and either got no response, or was told my job was too small. For the quality of work done, the price was quite reasonable. Will use Patch again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Our Condo association hired patch to clean, plant and hardscape our neglected yard. Patch removed 12-16 inches of soil in the front of our condo and replaced it with better soil, cleaned out the entire yard, including existing beds and a 5 year untouched stretch of 'jungle', installed bluestone steppers in the front, Installed a Unilock 'brick' patio in the back, put down weed barrier and mulched the entire property, transplanted some existing bushes and planted new bushes in the front. Also installed a dog run in the side yard.
