we needed someone to fix an area where water damage had caused softening of a 6 inch x 6 inch area of our ceiling. this required some priming/sanding followed by painting. the ceiling is continuous over our living room into the hallways so this whole area required painting. visit 1: a very nice guy came to do the work over about 4 hours. the sanding/priming was incomplete (you could see a rough patch in the area of water damage), and there were streaks seen in the living room, particularly evident when light comes in the window at the right time. a request was made to redo the ceiling. over the following week: someone came by our unit to attempt to do the fixing, but did not call in advance so we were not home to let him in. after a week of emails/missed calls, someone else came by after coordinating a time to meet (visit 2), and realized this job was more than just a touch up. a separate visit would be necessary and would be arranged. visit 3, one month later: a manager came with 2 workers who spoke limited english. he assessed the area and agreed to do it after insinuating that the appearance of streaks in the paint could be caused by candle smoke. once the manager left, the workers asked whether the paint color they brought was the same. they did the work over 4 hours. they were courteous but didn't sand down the initial spot of initial damage and didn't fix the paint streaks over the whole living room ceiling. in addition they left stains on a newly painted wall (perhaps from taking down our curtain rods) which will require repainting. immediately after the workers left, i emailed the manager who recommended a warm wash cloth to get rid of the 4 ft long dark stain. it did not come out. after multiple emails over a week, there has been no response to having someone reassess the work. with 3 missed work days we haven't really gotten anywhere, and more than 1 month later, and have no resolution over what the next steps are. aside from this were some smaller issues: on visit 1, the painter was about 1 hour early, and on visit 3, the painter was 15 minutes late. the initial email to me from the manager was addressed to the wrong name, twice, even after offering to correct the error. the painters who came at visit 3 did not offer to take off shoes coming inside, or collect their own garbage before leaving. perhaps this work is not representative of the company because it was a small job, and maybe for little pay (?) but after this experience we would not choose to have them work in our unit again.

It was convenient to use them. They were very prompt and courteous. They came when they said they would come. They finished the job when they said they would finish it. They did not do anything outstanding. They did a good job. I thought that they were rather pricey.

Paint America is an authorized service provider for Home Depot. Home Depot are making a push to be a one-stop shop for home improvement solutions. I ordered these doors in early December 2008, and now - eight months later - they are finally complete, and installed. The interminable and multiple delays were no fault of Paint America, which is why I have chosen to review them here. Paint America had to paint my front door 4x - first the door was measured incorrectly; second Home Depot called for a paint which peeled away from the plastic surrounds for the glass insets; third Paint America sourced a Sherwin Williams custom color, which - despite having the same name - was very different than the Behr tint we had chosen. Finally, on the fourth try, they got it right. There were many missteps along the way here - most Home Depot's fault, some Paint America's fault. That said, Stathis inspired confidence, and assured me that Paint America would get the job done correctly. They did! Their work was not super-premium, rather somewhat pedestrian (a few splotches here and there, a couple of drips), but they never abandoned me. Here's to customer service.
