Called Osmodson and was able to get an estimate very quickly. Kent was on time, very professional and knowledgeable. He got on the roof and not only found the issue causing the known leak, but found 3 other problems that I wasn't even aware were happening. We had a roof pop, exposed nails through 2 shingles, improper placement of shingles/flashings on 2 vents and a row of where the shingles were cut in half. He took pictures and explained what it would take to repair each of the issues. The estimate was so reasonable, I hired him on the spot. He was able to get out 3 days later. He spent the morning on the roof and repaired each issue and took pictures of the finished product. I was very pleased with his workmanship, honesty and professionalism. I finally have a roofer I can trust and refer without hesitation.

Mr. Osmondson looked internally upstairs at my chimney where I thought the seeping was an issue and he looked at my roof, flashing and external portion of the chimney. He explained long term what needed to be done and why, and what in the short term I should do. He took pictures while he was on the roof and then took the time to compare what my set up was to pictures from a number of other projects he has completed. He explained what I was looking at and how things should look/function. I felt he was very honest and didn’t speak to me like I was clueless.

I selected Osmondson to replace my roof based on positive feedback from a friend who also used them for a roof replacement. Kent came to my home to provide a quote and explained (in great detail) proper installation practices they use to guarantee quality results. He pointed out one section of my roof was previously installed incorrectly, using the wrong materials based on lack of pitch. With minimal pitch the previous roofer should have installed a flat roof product, not a traditional shingle. Again, this was explained in great detail. After receiving the quote, I did have questions about the quote and the installation process. Kent addresses all my questions and concerns. When Scott showed up with his crew I was briefed on the process and they went right to work. As the old roofing material was removed they uncovered damaged plywood and rafters on one section of the roof. Scott showed me the damage and offered suggestions on making the right repairs to make sure the roof was supported correctly and to accept the new materials. Making the correct repairs now only made sense. Why cover up a problem that will only surface again in the future. Repairing this section did extend the project time but knowing the correct repairs were made makes a big difference. As the work was completed the crew kept my yard clean. At the end of every day my yard was free of any garbage and materials. Osmondson performs quality work and knows what they are doing. They made sure the entire job was completed to my satisfaction…and the roof looks GREAT! I would recommend them to anyone looking for a new roof and would reach out again for other carpentry work in the future.

I noticed this spring that my garage roof was leaking. Upon closer inspection I saw that there was quite a lot of rotting wood and knew it was time to call a roofer. Out of the 4 quotes I obtained from local roofers I selected Osmondson Roofing and Carpentry, Inc because 1. Kent Osmondson - the estimator- took the time to educated me as to what constituted a "good roofing job" despite it being a rather small job. 2. The company is a long time local, family owned business. 3. The quote was among the lowest I obtained. 4. They were willing to give me proof of insurance. 5. They wrote up a very complete contract. After signing the contract everything went according to plan. They called me the week before and told me when to expect them. Scott, the other Osmondson brother, was the foreman and on site for the whole time. In less than a day, the shingles, the decking that was rotten, the partially rotten joists and decking and all the decking nails were removed. , Appropriate joists were sistered in, new decking as well as all the old decking nailed in, architectural shingles installed. The crew protected my plantings and left the yard as neat as they found it.

It went very well but not exactly according to the original plan. Kent told me that a metal chimney liner should be placed in order to guarantee that water leakage would cease and that it would need to be done by a certified, licensed HVAC contractor. When I contacted my HVAC contractor he came out and suggested a new high efficiency furnace would reduce the heating bill, have warranty protection and would cost about the same as a new chimney plus metal liner. The venting for this type of furnace would go out the back wall instead of up the chimney. He was right. So even though I had a signed contract the Osmondson's brothers drew up a new one with chimney removal instead of removal and replacement. No hassle. The job took less than 2 days and looks great. The job foreman, Scott Osmondson, was on the premises the entire time. The workmen left the area as neat as they found it. The Osmondson brothers were so pleasant to deal with. They are really good at educating me, their client in "best practices" and their follow through was amazing.

Probably one the best appointments I have ever had. Kent came out right away and took a look at all my concerns. He explained everything he was looking for and what things I should keep an eye out for. Overall Kent saved us money and provided us peace of mind with our home. I would recommend him to anyone needing work done with their house or any concerns they might have.

1. Both Kent and Scott fully explained their intended approach, including materials, techniques, and precautions. Scott spoke personally with both my neighbors and explained how he planned to protect their property. 2. The crew arrived early each morning. Sidewalks, gangways, and lawns were thoroughly cleaned before they left each day. I never found a stray roofing nail. 3. This was (to me) a complex job involving not only roofing skills, but masonry and carpentry as well. We are very pleased with the new roof, new chimney, and freshly repaired soffit corners--all accomplished by the single Osmondson crew. 4. In addition to the quality of the finished product, I also appreciated the quality of their process: their teamwork, the logic and savvy of their setups, their insistence on hand-nailing shingles. It was a pleasure to watch these professionals at work. 5. We'd hire them again in a heartbeat.

Job was completed on time and I was very happy with the result.

The work promised was delivered on and to the degree promised as well. The brick work was done very professionally and matched a 60 year old house - very pleased with the job in every detail.

Crew arrived at 7 am., completed tear off of 40 by 15 foot area in a few hours, and completed roof installation (hand nailing!) by 1pm.

Scott said what he would do then did what he said quickly and professionally at reasonable cost.

Scott responded quickly, looked at the problem then came back to repair it and charged us considerably less that the previous quote form another company.

Mr. Osmondson contacted me right away. Other contractors I had left messages with that same day, were still just calling me back while Osmondson was actually performing the repairs. There was a short delay due to weather conditions and Mr. Osmondson was calling to let me know when they anticipated being there. After the job was completed, and the high winds ripped a piece of aluminum fascia off an entirely different area of the house, I called and left a message. He was out the next day and fixed it right away. This is good old fashioned customer service directly from the owner who charges a rare fair price for quality work. I will absolutely use Osmondson Carpentry for any future needs.

It went great. They were the best. It took about two days to remove the old roof and replace it with the new one. They even went the extra mile where we have a small roof over the front entrance that was still in good shape, but the owner wanted it to match the new roof so they replaced the shingles there no charge to us. Very nice. The chimney flashing is done in copper and that looks great! That's another thing. There's an owner on the job, working with his crew. Scott and Kent and the crew really go the extra mile and it shows in their work. Great job! Well worth it. Highly recommended!

They are very responsive, have more than reasonable prices, and do quality work. The job was fairly small and i look forward to hiring them for a larger job.

Osmondson was recommended by a discriminating friend whose family had Osmondson reroof three of their houses. That alone was enough of an endorsement. But wanting to validate their competitiveness, I received multiple bids and found Osmondson offered competitive pricing that was thorough in services and options. Their sales presentation isn’t flashy, but they did install a high quality, great looking roof and their clean-up was impeccable (this was important with our two dogs). The installers were professional and polite; the Osmondson brothers, Scott and Kent, are straight forward nice guys. I don’t believe you can go wrong using these guys.

There was a generous-size hole in the chimney flashing at the peak. I watched from the ladder as Kent performed the work on the chimney area, and he explained to me what caused this hole. Without question, and without a doubt as I could see with my own eyes, the original flashing had been improperly installed when my home was originally built. Not only had the flashing been improperly installed, the flashing had been sealed with "window and door caulk." I would not have believed it if I had not seen it with my own two eyes.

Scott provided a complete estimate of the work that needed to be done, what was involved in the job, explained materials needed & provided suggestions for roof color choices. He and his crew showed up on time and were punctual each day of work. They were very careful working around the existing landscaping & were neat, cleaning up the area each day when they were finished. He and his crew were very professional, provided high quality work. I have not had any problems with my roof following and I would definitely hire them again. I would highly recommend them to others to have their work done.

BUYER BEWARE! Verbal promises and warranties made by the polished Osmondson brothers. When asked for their promises and warranties in writing, and a copy of their liability and workmen's comp insurance (your right under Illinois law), they wouldn't answer my phone calls, emails or text messages. Totally unprofessional and devoid of courtesy. What are these guys hiding? If they refuse to provide IN WRITING, the basic documents the consumer is entitled to, how do you think they'll respond if you have a problem with your roof? DON'T BE FOOLED. Under Illinois law, you cannot sue a roofer if they do a bad job, or if they don't keep their promises. Unbelievable yes, but true. You can only sue if they don't finish the roof, and these guy know that. RUN, DON'T WALK AWAY FROM THIS UNSCRUPULOUS TEAM!

I was there for the whole job, every process that they dealt with was thorough. They explained everything and it was extremely quality work. Everything was hand nailed, and exactly as they said they would do it. The unique part of it is they only have one crew. They are on the job until it is done. I would recommend them to anyone. Product wise and work wise everything was well done and as promised.

Back in April, Osmondson installed a new roof on our existing home. Since April was a cold month, we weren't concerned that some of the shingles were not laying down correctly. However, toward the end of May, when things hadn't changed significantly, we contacted Osmondson. They took a look, and also had the shingle supplier out for an inspection. It became pretty obvious that there was a problem with that batch of shingles. At that point, we were asked by the manufacturer of the shingles to go through a process of photos, samples of the shingles, etc. so that Osmondson could be reimbursed for the shingles and their labor, and then redo the roof on our home. They advised that this process could take several months. At that point, Osmondson came to us and advised that they were going to go ahead and redo our roof immediately, and deal with the manufacturer or supplier themselves. Needless to say, we are very grateful! Our home was built in 1968, and we purchased it in 1981. We had Osmondson do our first reroofing in 1987 and are we're very glad that they are still in business now, so that they could handle this latest roofing job. I can't think of too many companies that would go out on a limb and redo our roof without waiting for the reimbursement from the manufacturer or supplier of the shingles. I have recommended Osmondson to several of my neighbors and, like us, they are very happy with Osmondson's work and integrity!
