I purchased a "Groupon" for 4 hours of cleaning from this company. The cost of the Groupon was $49. I originally scheduled a house cleaner to come on Tuesday, September 27, however they incorrectly put me in the appointment book for Monday, September 26. I happened to be at home in the morning, so I said it was fine. I should have know there would be problems because they insisted the appointment was Monday and not Tuesday. I'm certain it was suppose to be Tuesday because my Tuesday/Wednesday were going to be spent getting ready for the Jewish High Holiday. Anyway, Monday was fine. The cleaning lady arrived 1/2 hour late because she didn't have a car and had to schlep two buckets, a mop, a broom, a bag of rags and a bag full of cleaning supplies on FOUR buses. She was exhausted before she even got started. After checking with the owner of the company, I asked the woman to stay an additional three hours (total of 7 hours of cleaning) for which I paid $90.00 (on top of the original $49), plus I left her a $20 tip. I had to leave for work, so I left her to clean while I was gone. For the amount of money I paid, she should have been cleaning until 4:30. I left work early and was driving home when I saw her walking toward the bus with all her buckets and stuff, at 4:00. I pulled over, she got in the car, and I took her to the train. When I got home, the first thing I noticed was that the floor in the hallway hadn't been mopped. Then in the kitchen, not only was the floor filthy, she didn't clean in the microwave and didn't pick things up off the counter to wipe. She wiped AROUND things, so of course it was still dirty. Every room of the house had multiple problems so I called the owner of the company to complain. She was suppose to return the following day to fix what wasn't cleaned, but called in the morning on Tuesday and rescheduled for Wednesday. She showed up today (at 7:00 a.m., an hour early...my husband was still in the shower) with another woman to re-clean. My husband and I left for work. When I returned home, the house was clean and smelled good. I went from room to room and they got to everything I had pointed out, so I was satisfied. Then I went into my bedroom and sat down to call and thank her for fixing the problem. The first thing I noticed was there was something missing from my nightstand. My mother, who passed away a few months ago, gave me a Limoges china tray that I kept on my nightstand. I thought perhaps they set it down elsewhere while they were dusting, but I couldn't find it. I called the owner, first thanking her for cleaning, then I said I was troubled because something was missing. I explained what the tray looked like and she said she would call me back. She called her employee, then called me back and at first tried to LIE about the tray saying she found it on the floor broken. Then she said her employee broke it. Now I understand that accidents happen...I break things from time to time, but instead of leaving the broken pieces with a note apologizing, she THREW THE PIECES IN THE KITCHEN TRASH. Then she took the trash bag and threw it outside and didn't leave me a note!!!!! Did she think I just wouldn't notice???!!! Just threw it away with all the nasty food scrapings from last night's dinner!! I tore apart the garbage bag after fishing it out of the outside can and found all the pieces. I'm unable to fix it. I feel like I've been violated! I really can't believe they would try to hide this. Groupon has given me a credit for the $49 I originally spent on the coupon, but who knows if I'll get my additional $90 back, no less the gratuities I paid ($20 for the first woman, and $10 for the woman who ended up breaking my tray!). I know it sounds a little silly to make a big deal about a "thing," but I'm still grieving my mom's death, and then this!! I'm absolutely beside myself with grief. PLEASE, take my advice and do not use this extremely unprofessional cleaning service.
