Description of Work: I purchased a 3 hour organizing service through a Big Deal. I had been overwhelmed by the amount of stuff in my one bedroom condo for years and had almost moved because of this. I decided last minute that it wasn't worth it to pay a substantial amount of money just so I could put more things in closets and would just have to learn to live in the space I already have. Carol from Optimal Organizing was a great help and taught me how to find space in my home that I had previously overlooked. I run a business from my home so we first worked on making a large cabinet for business only items since they had been scattered in 3-4 places. Then Carol helped me with my bedroom closet. I had hated going in there because clothes items were constantly falling off some of the lower shelves. The key to solving this was containers to separate and organize groups of my clothes. Now my closet floors are clear, something I had thought was out of reach for me. With Carol's guidance, I was able to finish the closet on my own! I am so glad Carol came over and rescued me from the horrible piles in my home. It is very helpful to have a more experienced set of eyes to help you make the most of your space.

Description of Work: This was an Angie's List Big Deal for 3 hours of organizing assistance. Carol was very helpful in jumpstarting the clean-out and reorganization of my home office. She encouraged me to prepare in advance to get the most out of my time with her and was very supportive and persistent in making progress even when I got discouraged and overwhelmed by the paper. She followed up with an email describing her suggestions for moving the project forward.

Description of Work: Very effective approach to organizing space and materias; disciplined and systematic. Key is to start from what was on site, and not try to impose some organizing theory, but to use practical assessment of items, workflow, space, furniture. I dramatically improved the physical organization of my office space. The challenge was big due to the enormous amount of complex paperwork. Main benefit is the reduction in mental tension caused by the time drain/distraction of loose organization of space and materials -- that enables more and better work, and sets up a positive cycle. Subsequently I have revamped one of 2 large closets into a fully-functional "supply depot", and archived hanging folders in my file cabinet in order to make ample space for 2012 material.

it went very well. Carol has a talent for seeing what needs to be done to organize a space or papers and getting it done efficiently. She is very pleasant to work with. She even donated my unwanted items to charity and gave me the receipts. I look forward to working with her again.
Description of Work: During the first visit, Carol organized a closet for me. During the second and third visits, she helped me redesign my workspace at home. This included helping me select a new, bigger desk and organizing bills and important papers.

We have a finished attic space that has become a bit of a catch all for rarely used items, home improvement magazines and photos. It was a mess and so overwhelming that I didn't know where to start so I just kept ignoring it rather than tackling it myself. Angie's List ran a Big Deal promotion and I purchased it. Carol actually contacted me initially which really motivated me to go ahead and tackle the job. Carol arrived on time (she was a few minutes late but we had several no parking signs in our neighborhood so she called to tell me that she was here, just trying to find parking) and asked me what I wanted to accomplish. We set right to work and did the whole 3 hours without a break. Carol was both a cheerleader, encouraging me, and a hands on worker, doing what she could. She offered helpful suggestions and really motivated me to keep decluttering, not only in the attic space, but in other rooms as well. I would definitely pay full price to have her work with me again.

I needed a bit of help finishing organizing my daughter's bedroom so I took advantage of the Big Deal offered by Optimal Organizing. Scheduling the appointment was very easy and Carol was right on time on the agreed-upon date. We got right to work and finished my project in no time at all. Carol was completely hands-on - folding, hanging, moving, etc. Although I had never met Carol before, it felt like I was spending the morning with an old friend. She was very easy to work with and I would definitely hire her again!

carol is very friendly and terrifically organized. she immediately saw how i was wasting space and how i had too much clutter in my office area. we cleared off my desk, rearranged my books and resource material and reorganized two cabinets. she very helpfully gave me a "to do" list and i am working my way through that. she spent three hours with me and worked hard the entire time. i am very impressed and will hire her again.

It really exceeded my expectations because her skills include all the parts of organizing and weeding things out. Especially because I hate doing those tasks, and put them off as much as possible. In this case I put of cleaning out my garage for 25 years!!!
Description of Work: Cleaned out and organized garage, she measured for and shopped with me for cabinets, helped bring throw aways out to garbage, took itemss that could be contributed to appropriate places. She worked very fast and did more work in the time spent than I could have imagined . She was very good at helping decide what to get rid of. Carol helped me to organize my home office, going through my file cabinet, my mountain of papers, and other junk that was piling up on the floor. She led the entire process with ease and understanding, and she helped facilitate my decisions on what to keep and what to toss. She is also sensitive to proper disposal of materials, recycling everything that can be recycled, including boxes, paper, cell phones, etc. Before Carol came to my house, I had anxiety about organizing my office. Now that anxiety has changed into motivation to tackle other projects. I can't wait to have Carol return to work on the basement!

Carol was great to work with from the very start. She is professional and personable and fun to work with. Carol was very skilled at helping me decide what to keep, what to get rid of and how to get rid of it. She has a lot of contacts with various charitable organizations so she was easily able to arrange for donations of a lot of my things I no longer wanted. At the end of it all, she even arranged for a mover for me and met the movers at my storage unit. Overall, she went above and beyond in helping me clear out my storage unit by my deadline. I couldn't have done it without her and I highly recommend her to anyone who needs (or wants) that extra push to get more organized more easily. She is worth it!

Carol Woodworth of Optimal Organizing was excellent when it came to tackling an overstuffed closet overflowing with too many clothes. Step by step, she helped me weed out and reorganize my possessions so that, now, I can focus on the items of clothing that fit best and are most flattering. In just two sessions, we were able to weed out four bags' worth of clothing for a local homeless shelter ? a win-win for everyone. I'll have her back for other assignments, for sure.

It went superb. I feel like I have my life back. Actually it is more than back--it's way better. Here's what I think: I think Carol Woodworth is more than an organizer. What she has given me is a whole life makeover. Seriously. She was like having my closest sister arrive from out of town to ingeniously and lovingly help me get my life together. At a point, after I saw how good this former executive is, I would just ask her What do we need to do today? and she would have thought things through and we would go at it. I am going to keep her on my speed dial and plan to use her for a good long time. I cannot say enough good things about working with Carol and using her services. I have also used several organizers in the past and they have been pretty good, but Carol is in a whole new league all by herself. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
Description of Work: Carol helped me go through my house room by room, drawer by drawer, cabinet by cabinet, and closet by closet. My mother passed away a couple of years ago and much of her household was shipped up here to my house. I had 3 dining room tables and 3 sets of chairs. Extra furniture all over my house and boxes and boxes of family "stuff", and once things got so cluttered, the clutter took on a life of it's on---slippery slope as they say. We worked together several days a week, for several hours at each stint, and kept this up for about a month. She hauled bags of stuff out of here --- taking it to the Goodwill, the resale shop, the dumpster and also to other appropriate charities and brought me the receipts when she returned for out next meeting. What I have discovered now is the real treasures I do have in my home-now that they are freed from the clutter.

Description of Work: We were constantly fighting back clutter in our bedroom and kitchen. Carol came in and really took the stress out of the whole process.
