Great! I highly recommend Carol. She listened to my short- and long-term goals and immediately identified where to start. We worked together on one room or area at a time, usually for 4 hours at a time, generally once a week. She kept me focused and made great suggestions, but was understanding about my priorities, especially concerning the things I was not ready to part with. Carol works hard and will do the ‘heavy lifting’. I personally found that I worked best side-by-side with Carol throughout the process, but she would also be good at getting you started on a task that you could complete on your own (for someone with more time and initiative than I have). My house is now in order; the whole experience was truly transformative, both for me and the house. I can’t say enough about what a great experience this was.
Description of Work: House organization: I had purchased my mother’s home, and moved my belongings in alongside hers. It was a disaster: boxes everywhere, too much furniture, artwork, kitchenware, files, childhood memories. All rooms and garage were full, I didn’t know how or where to begin.

Carol is very calm, organized, professional and had great ideas. She is a great partner for getting your house and "stuff" in order. She is smart and full of simple but worthy ideas and methods plus sees the big picture. She can work side by side with you or on her own. I especially like that she understood exactly what I wanted--did not impose one right way to do tidying and organizing. She is a delight to work with. I recommend her to anyone who needs an ally or partner in the daunting task of getting "it all together." She also has a great Rolodex so she can suggest other professionals--such as thrift shops, places that accept donations, and many other useful sources. I give her a big thumbs up! She can work for a one time visit or a longer term relationship (as it takes longer to put a lifetime in order!)

Carol did an excellent job. I was able to contact her throughout the long project of moving and she was always responsive. She came over for many appointments and was indispensable on this large job.
Description of Work: Provider helped me to first clean up, and then pack up my three bedroom house, and my garage and basement. She helped me by taking items away for donation, arranging pick-ups by a junk removal company, doing research on storage facilities in the area, and overall keeping me on-task and focused on goals.

In response to a major life change, I needed to quickly reorganizie my living space, discard items that no longer worked for me, and ?as always ? pare down further. Calmly and logically, Carol Woodworth of Optimal Organizing came to my house and performed a feat of organizing wizardry on my (then) overcrowded and chaotic space. In a matter of only three hours ($85 per hour), we reconfigured space and repurposed some pieces of furniture (for example, converting a TV storage cabinet into a clothing storage area with the help of just a few wicker storage baskets). As Carol worked, she applied a critical eye to the remaining pieces of furniture and other items (like a treadmill) to determine whether and how they would ? or wouldn?t ? work for me when I move into a smaller living space in the future. Thank you, Carol. The only thing missing from your wizardry was a magic wand!

Carol is amazing. I knew I wanted to declutter and organize my home, after living here for 22 years. But I didn't know where to start. Carol came into my home, surveyed the situation and suggested we begin in my home office - I tend to avoid this area as much as I can! I get anxious every time I walk in there and see the piles of papers, bills, forms, etc. Carol is very reassuring, confident and very helpful with decision making. Its almost fun! Especially to see the piles of paperwork recede. She has created a filing system that makes sense and is easy to carry forward. And she sits next to me every step of the way! Carol has been to my home 3 times already and I plan to use her expertise to help me declutter and organize many areas of my home. I always thought I could do it myself, but I guess I'm emotionally attached to things from my past and its hard to let go. Carol makes it almost easy! I would highly recommend Carol for her years of expertise, calm, reassuring manner, and great results!

Description of Work: carol provided excellent service to my overflowing closet. She not only pulled out everything but put those things I chose to keep back in an orderly and neat manner. She worked the three hours without rest and stacked all unwanted items into bags for disposal.After rearranging,hanging, and placing clothes into drawers, she vacuumed the floor of the closet. Upon ending her three hours, she placed all the bags into her car and delivered them to the charitable organization of our choice.

She does so with a pleasant style, taking processes one step at a time. Having Optimal organizing in my home is a pleasure. Among the owner's many talents is a keen understanding of how to make the most of multi-use spaces. She's a problem solver, and that's exactly what I needed. i was so happy with her services that i've recommended her to two of my daughters, who were equally happy with her service.

Carol showed up on time, took a tour of our problem areas and gave me immediate suggestions about how to create functional organization in every area of our house. After getting a general idea of our problems, she helped me tackle our toy storage and our improvised filing cabinet. With a few quick and easy changes, we're becoming a better organized family. I will definitely have her back as we tackle one area at a time.
Description of Work: Carol helped me figure out how to implement organizational systems that will work for my family as we settle into our new house. She had great ideas to help the kids be more organized and we even rearranged furniture a bit to create more organization in the main living areas of our house. We're test driving her 'no cost' solutions now and will refine if needed. She repurposed a number of things we already had in the house, which was terrific.

For years, my daughter had been concerned about the condition of her garage.This garage had an accumulation of several years of "stuff". It seemed to be an overwhelming project. As a belated birthday gift, I purchased three hours of garage orgaization from Carol Woodworth of Optimal Organizing. Carol was punctual, professional and worked steadily for the entire 3 hours. Her suggestions for setting up additional storage were greatly appreciated. Also, it was important for my daughter to be available to answer any questions Carol had regarding what should be tossed or saved. The resulting improvement was significant. We were both very satisfied with the work that was accomplished. For this reason, I highly recommend Optimal Organizing.

I could never have brought order from chaos without Carol. While coping with a long series of family illnesses and deaths, the paperwork from all facets of my life had accumulated into an overwhelming morass. On top of that, I inherited from my mother boxes of letters, papers, photographs, journals and memorabilia, including what she had inherited from HER mother. Carol was a delight as she guided me through the process, with an wealth of organizational tricks, firm questions guiding me to what I could toss out and warm compassion when I could not always do it (at least not yet). Carol is a very fast study, quickly understanding my goals ranging from concepts underlying the organization of my scientific papers to the odd branches of my family tree. She taught me guidelines for financial organization and was a steady source of motivation. At the end of each session, our progress was clear and we had had fun working together.

Carol did an excellent job of sorting through the debris in my study and leaving it looking clean and tidy. Before she came, the floor of the room was littered with all sorts of papers and financial statements, some of which I had never opened, and many of which I had never filed. In this mess I not only had my own financial accounts, but also the account records of my now grown kids, as well as those of my recently deceased mother. Carol organized all these financial records so I could easily find what I wanted when I needed to do so. In addition to financial records, my desk was piled high with other documents I had to go over and papers I was writing that I wanted to keep right in front of me, so I would not forget to work on them. Carol showed me how to display these items in a way that they would always be in view and yet appear tidy. She made all of my records much easier to find. She explained everything she was doing before she did it and was careful to check with me before throwing out anything. Carol appears to have a photographic memory. Even today when I misplace something, I often call or email to ask her if she has any idea of where I might have put it. She still nicely answers my many queries. In most cases, she knows exactly where I probably have stashed these items. She is a very pleasant person to have around the house. Thanks to her I now have a small upright file on my desk that displays a lot of the items I am working on. I have my many pens and pencils organized into a holder, and my CDs and DVDs are neatly stacked in a corner. She even sorted through the huge number of device chords and wires I had piled up on my floor, arranged them into types, and stored them in bags that could be kept in another room. She managed to make all these changes without ever irritating or annoying me, and I am someone who has sometimes bridled when people complained about the way I was keeping my desk. In short, I recommend Optimal Organizing very highly. I had such a good experience with Carol the first time that I have used her several more times since then.
Description of Work: She organized my exceptionally messy study. I had papers, photographs, CDs, DVDs, and all sorts of knickknacks piled everywhere. Thanks to Carol the study is now in order.

She was okay. I thought she was a little bit rough, she was not one of those real sweet type people. She was very tough and not as warm. The quality of work was okay. I don't remember it being out of this world, but it was adequate for the money that I paid and the time that she spent. There were no additional charges beyond the big deal amount. The price was good. We really got very little done and I just didn't feel comfortable with her. I wouldn't have her back.

I had been anxious for anyone to see the extent of my clutter and what would have to be organized and arranged. Carol was undaunted and eased my concern immediately. . Within one visit, I was no longer overwhelmed and delighted to see the progress made then and thereafter.. There are no words to completely capture how satisfied I am with the services that continue to be provided. Again, she is simply the best. For your information I am a retired educator and former university administrator.
Description of Work: Complete reorganization of my home office and removal of clutter from bookshelves, cabinets and closets. Filing, sorting and organizing for tax preparation and estate planning. It was simply the best. I recommend Optimal Organizing without hesitation.

Carol is great! I work from home in a very small space and she helped me organize my home office. Additionally, she gave me ideas of how to get better organized, organizing supplies I could purchase, etc. Overall I found her process and suggestions to be very helpful and would absolutely work with Carol again. In addition to being very good at her job, she is delightful to work with. Overall it was a very helpful, productive and good experience. I highly recommend - it's so easy to get bogged down under clutter and Carol will help sort all that out. It's time and money well-spent.
