Olson Rug & Flooring

Tried Olson rug in Mundelein for this project. They did a nice job and carpet and installation look good. Sales in showroom went well. Installer was professional and stilled. Job only took a couple of hours. Much better than job by competitor in Mundelein a couple of years ago. Will definitely use Olson again from this location. My only complaint is that it was difficult to communicate and schedule by email. Salesman seems to prefer phone, but is not always there. I prefer email, as am busy with work 9-5.

They did a really good job. I would give them 4.5 stars. The only thing is that if you have a small condo - one that is under 600 square feet - or a smaller home, you just need to be prepared. If you have been living there and the home is not empty, it took them two days to do it. But they're well worth it, they're beautiful. I would recommend them. Cameron, who is one of the sales rep there, is really good to work with. We were leaning towards one particular pattern or one particular color and he showed us something that was a little richer in color and that is very easy to clean. We have pets and kids. I like that one a lot too. If you have a smaller home or a condo with furniture, with clothing and things, they have to be moved. We have a little extra flooring. If a plank or anything ever is damaged, we could replace it. They were very meticulous, the gentleman who did the work, the actual installer. I checked Angie's List and they were the best value for money. There were a couple of bumps, but mostly it was just the time involved for it.

Quick and easy, both at store and on day of installation. My family has been a long-time Olson customer (from the 1940s). Always very happy with quality of work and pricing. They are not the cheapest, not the most expensive either, but IMO they are the best.

carpet was delivered as scheduled. installers were very professional, worked swiftly and left the new carpet perfectly installed, while removing the old carpet and leaving no dirt behind.

I love this place. I've been shopping here for carpet since 1988. Great products, service, and (best of all) prices/value. I've checked out other Olson Rugs and rug stores, but I keep coming back this location. They also installed carpet for two rooms in my house (new construction) in 2013. Very professional, best price for the product we wanted (we knew we wanted a higher quality carpet and padding and were willing to pay for it). The salesman even pointed out more affordable options, just so we knew. The installation took less than one day, and we have no complaints. My parents just had carpet installed also and they found staples around afterwards, we had no issues at all. I would highly recommend this company.

The whole process went very well. Cameron was a pleasure to work with on the sales process, and he came out to measure. The installers arrived on time, got all of the old carpeting removed, and did a great job installing the new carpet. They we done in aroung four hours.

Olsen had a good selection of the type of carpeting I wanted - durable, since I have dogs and kids, but soft and with a pattern. The salesman did a good job of explaining the different types, and I found two that I wanted. They installed on time, and the installers were professional and cleaned up well after themselves. I've purchased flooring from them in the past, and found their prices to be fair and installation to be easy and reliable.

We had a positive experience. We would use this contractor again.

do representatives treat you as though you're not that important. So if I'm not that important don't take my money. and I do not believe the carpet with I don't believe it was the quality she promised me.

The measurement went well - something I was concerned about since we needed the cooperation of the outgoing homeowners, but everything went well. Installation crew was quiet (not chatty) but quite professional. They came in, installed, and left. Carpet install looked great, and has held up. We have one threshold transition where two of the four nails are coming up some, but there is something going on with the floor there.

Went well, they were prompt and quick. They left a nice tape measure, so score. There was a lot of remnant left over that I thought could have been reduced but I'm not a carpet installer.

Sales process was good; but the installation was horrible in too many ways to list. And the followup on these items (damage, etc) has been non-existent so far. We feel duped by a slightly better price up front.

Good communication. My tenant thought there was an issue with the seam in the carpet and they sent someone out to fix it right away.

Shopped around a lot and ended up here by chance. We had a short window in which we wanted the carpet installed and had a specific budget we were looking to meet. Worked with Jeff throughout the process and he really made an effort to make this work for us. Olson had a large selection of carpets within our price range and they were able to meet the tight timeline we needed. Jeff made sure to keep me posted on the progress and everything happened very smoothly. Have recommended to friends and would use again.

I had a terrible experience with this provider. I was very surprised given the very positive reviews on Angies List. Our job was very simple. All they had to do was reinstall carpet that we had removed due to some flooding. The carpet was already there, they just needed to put padding down and put the carpet back in place. The rooms were 15' x 15', not very big. To start out with, their customer service when trying to schedule a visit was terrible. It was like they didn't want the business. I had to call back several times, but I persisted because I had read good reviews here. Finally they scheduled a date to come - two weeks out, which is fine because I guess they are busy. When they came for the first visit, they didn't have all the materials they needed. So they had to postpone the work by another two weeks. Then they came two weeks later and still weren't able to finish the job, and had to schedule one more visit. The workers were not very professional, made a mess everywhere. A different contractor (which I had found on Angies List as well) who did much more complicated work to replace drywall and paint the walls, left the place immaculate after their work. I have written a separate review about them. This job is relatively dust-free because they just needed to install carpet, but they found a way to track dirt every where and leave stains on the walls. In every visit, they called the morning of the visit date to advise when they would arrive that day (we had no choice), and they never ended up coming when they said they would. And the worst part - the cost of the work came in almost 15% higher than the initial estimate, and they charged us for having to make two visits to do the work! Again, the job was not very complicated and I imagine that anyone who installs carpet for a living would have been able to do this fairly quickly and without fuss.

We were exceedingly pleased with Olson Rug and wish we had gone with them for our previous carpet install. Our salesperson, Lou, was quick about helping us find exactly what we were looking for and we couldn't have asked for anything more from the install crew. They came when they said they would, did a great job installing the carpet, were respectful of our home, finished that same day, and cleaned up after themselves.

We have always had a great experience with them. Any issues we have had (not many) have been addressed quickly and to our satisfaction. I have recommended them continually to friends and relatives and nobody has ever been disappointed.

We took home several samples to compare, and picked one we liked, but that cost a bit more than we were willing to spend. Jeff, the salesperson was able to shave some of the extras from the order and gave us exactly what we wanted. Olson has a huge inventory of samples, very helpful staff, and great prices and service. We've dealt with poor rug & carpet dealers in the past, and had a excellent experience with Olson. We look forward to working with them again in the future.

I ordered the carpet and Wally held it until other work was done in my house and it was time to install. They came out and measured and then showed up to install on time and did a great job. From start to finish, I could not have asked for better service and it couldn't have been easier.. Olson has good prices and knowledgeable people. I can't express how much easier it was having a veteran like Wally being my Sherpa through the process. I hope that Olson congratulates him. He treats the clients like gold. I have used that Olson location on several occasions and have always been pleased.

[ This is a duplicate review for Olson Rug and Flooring (general) - which was provided in a separate review specific to Olson Rug & Flooring on Route 59 in Naperville ] From start to finish we are extremely happy with the sales, service and installation of our tile flooring from Olson Rug & Flooring. We looked at three flooring stores for this work - Olson Rug and two other very near-by flooring stores. The store manager at Olson, Lou, was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout - answering questions, making recommendations. Chip came out and measured and provided a free estimate - very thorough in his estimate, and very knowledgeable. He also provided suggestions based on his experience. One of the competitors charged us $50 to measure, and that quote was 25%-30% more, for doing less. (They asked us to move furniture and uninstall the shelving unit.) However, this estimate was also thorough, and the estimator was professional and helpful. The third company had higher prices for the same tile and less selection - we did not request a quote from them. It was an easy choice to select Olson Rug, given the price differences, and our comfort with Lou and Chip - knowledge, experience and helpfulness. They seemed very much to take pride in their work and gave us confidence they would do a nice job. The three installers from Olson were extremely professional. They worked from early morning until after 6:30 PM both days to complete the job. They were careful - measuring several times to make sure the tile was aligned and even. They were very quality-conscious. The floor looks great - tile, grout, transitions and trimming. We showed to our family and they are all very impressed with appearance of the new floors. We've had other flooring done at our previous home several years ago, from the third company referenced earlier, and, our experience with Olson Rug was higher quality and a much better experience by far. We wish we had used Olson for that work.

I was looking for carpet remnants. Their prices were high for the quality of product offered. The selection was very minimal.

All Work was performed in a very professional manner. They arrived at the appointed time. Left the workarea clean and in the origional state. I would recomend Olson Rug to all.

I didn't use Olson Rug and Flooring because I wanted to use a more local company, so I paid more to do so. They took time with me to explain the product to me. They were honest with me. They were very professional. If this other local shop wasn't available I would use them.
