Stay away from NoticeTMA for drywall work. Here is my experience: I got an estimate from Kyle to hang a ceiling and then tape it, along with some walls that I had already hung. His quote was less than half of what another place quoted. No doubt the other place was overpriced, but "you get what you pay for" applies here I suppose. Kyle and his partner were polite and on time, I'll give them that. But the quality of work leaves a lot to be desired. His website boasts automated taping technology but that doesn't make a difference. The website also claims their "drywall division" is one of the best in the Midwest. Not sure who gave them that title.. They hung the drywall the first day and it looked sloppy. Uneven gaps all over and the guy using the router to cut out the holes for recessed lighting clearly hadn't done that before. He routed right through a light bulb and 4 of the cuts were so off I spent a good amount of time patching them so you wouldn't see the uneveness when the lights were installed. I had told Kyle I was going to be very picky with the ceiling, since a large window to the west allows a lot of light in and any problems would be obvious. He didn't seem concerned. After they were done and I cleaned up, there were a lot of areas that needed to be touched up. I get it, that happens. There were also a few cracks. A couple were corner joints that he assured me was due to temperature variance behind the wall. One was right in the middle of the ceiling and two others were bad taping (no mud behind the tape and the tape not centered in the corner). I also expressed concern that the seams were quite visible at certain angles. Kyle came back to touch it all up. He assured me the seams would be fine with a thicker coat of primer and good paint job. The crack in the middle of the ceiling just got more mud, despite my concern that it would just crack again. The two bad tape joints also just got more mud. There was also a hole about 1.5" long in a wall to ceiling joint that never got taped. This also got more mud, which I'm sure would have failed if I didn't eventually wind up tearing the whole ceiling down again. I had a pro painter come to see the ceiling and he immediately said the seams were not properly feathered and the work could not be hidden with primer and paint. He feathered them out and fixed a couple other spots. He then painted the ceiling and it looked much better. A few days later, a crack developed on one of the seams and both the corner joints that just got more mud crammed in them failed again. The painter said it would need to be retaped. To his credit, Kyle did agree to issue a partial refund so I could pay the painter to fix them since I have no confidence in having Kyle fix these. This was at my request, not his offer. After about 6 weeks, the crack in the middle of the ceiling came back and was now 48" long. More mud is not the answer. I also have a screw pop and a new crack in one of the walls. I started another project in an adjoining room to give Kyle's work more time to crack and boy did it. The work was initially done in mid-April and by mid-August every long seam in the ceiling had developed at least one crack. I had to remove the ceiling in the adjoining room and I had two drywall companies come out to quote me for that ceiling and to fix Kyle's work. Both agreed it would have to come down. The first guy asked if he could remove some tape because he suspected the gaps between panels were too large. Of course I told him he could remove the tape and sure enough, a full half inch gap was right where the biggest crack was. Kyle likes to try to blame others for his poor work, citing "severely cracked and multiple bowed joists". There is one joist with a crack. Kyle would have no way of knowing the severity of the crack, as it was sistered between 2x6s over three feet on either side of the crack before he ever saw it. Also, there we're no cracks along this joist, even though two panels did wind up meeting along it. As for the bowed joists, there was one I was not aware of. Kyle drywalled over it without informing me. I noticed the ceiling was bowed upward and brought it up. Only then did he make any mention of it. This was when there was no tape or mud on the ceiling yet. I was concerned with cracking and offered to help take down the drywall in the area and shim the joist with some wood I had. Kyle ensured me he could make it look fine with mud. After two drywallers agreed it would need to come down, I contacted Kyle and asked for a refund. I offered to accept a partial refund so he wouldn't be out any materials but he refused, again citing made up structural issues. He ignores the fact that the old ceiling lasted over 30 years with no cracks and was only removed for the remodel. His didn't last 30 days. I removed more tape and took pictures of the gaps he left so I can use the photos in a small claims case. I pulled down the entire ceiling, sistered some wood along the bowed joist and the other drywall installers had no issues installing drywall on the ceiling without gaps. Bottom line- if you want a long lasting drywall job, don't use these guys (well, this guy. It's just Kyle and whatever unskilled labor he has hired for the day to learn on your house). If you'd like more pictures, see their Facebook reviews.
Description of Work: I needed two ceilings (18 8' sheets) hung and finished and some walls finished.
