Serviceman arrived on time for our scheduled appointment, but declared he "didn't have time for this today." and told us we needed to call and reschedule for another time. We were confused...why schedule appointments if they cannot be kept? We called back and rescheduled for August when service was actually performed. In late August I received an Invoice for $300 (less than our $400 quote, hooray!), which I called to pay by phone. The payment was never processed, but my credit card number coincidentally stolen and used to purchase $297 worth of goods at Target...hmm.... I did not realize the payment to the company had not processed, as I was dealing with the bank to retrieve the stolen funds. When I received another notice from the company in the mail, I assumed it was a receipt. Instead, it was my original invoice PLUS an additional invoice since the company "had to come out twice." What a joke! When I reached out to the company by phone, I left a voicemail message regarding the pricing inconsistency, the multiple invoices despite service only being performed in August, and the payment by phone in late August/early September. The company never followed up, and I again assumed the matter had been resolved. In January, I again received a "past due" notice for the two invoices, so I spent time carefully reviewing my records for my bank account and only then realized the initial $300 had never processed. I mailed a check for $570, with a note explaining my mistake in ignoring their invoices, as well as the various inconsistencies in March. Just one day after mailing the check, I received a credit card receipt in the mail processed by "Shawn" for $300! I called to ask to speak to Shawn - why had my card not been processed in the 6 months since I provided it, where had my number been stored during all of this time, what did this mean for the additional $270 invoice? I was told by phone "No one named Shawn works here." ...??? I spoke with Barb several times and her answer was that "my card number has been on her desk all this time, but they did not realize the name the card belonged to until last week," so they had been processing it and it failed for 6 months because they used the wrong name? But they never thought to call me or seek clarification? Isn't this a bad practice to store credit card information on a note on your desk? Barb also stated that according to their records, the servicemen came out twice, therefore there were two charges, and that was that. I authorized her to charge the additional $270 to my card # which she still had on her desk! I asked her to VOID and mail back my check. So much has gone wrong with the business part of this process, that while the service was performed satisfactorily (eventually), I can't in good faith use this company again. What I can, and will do, is call my credit card company and ask for a new number and new card to be issued to me immediately, and warn others that if your service isn't complete on your original date of service, you'll be charged for the second visit, even if that is not what you initially agreed to!
Description of Work: Called company for a quote to get a catch basin "pumped and rodded" and was told $400. Scheduled service to be completed in July. Service was actually completed in August. Catch basic appears to be flowing well, but the business operations of this company are not.
