Nombach Roofing & Tuckpointing

Estimator took over a week to return call, then offered a long list of excuses about how hard the job would be because of the age of the building, pitch of roof, narrowness of the street, proximity of other buildings, etc., etc. Other contractors who work in the neighborhood (and there are many) deal with these factors without the bellyaching. And the estimator never even bothered to follow-up with a quote. Might be a good company if you have a ranch home on a quarter-acre lot in a suburban cul-de-sac, but didn't seem ready to work on older buildings in an urban neighborhood. Didn't seem professional, not impressed. Update after Jun 11 response: We knew full well Nombach is not an exterminating company, and we did not ask the estimator to remove any animals -- we had already hired an exterminating company to do that work. If this is what your estimator told you, it confirms my impression that he was not listening carefully and had already decided not to follow up with us.

I have used Nombach in the past and been pleased with their work, so when I needed new downspouts I didn't hesitate to contact them for an estimate. I filled out the contact form on their website and told them I was looking for a quote on new downspouts, but after 2 weeks I hadn't heard anything. I then called their office number and spoke with a rep who apologized for me not having been contacted. She said she would pass my cell number along to their estimator, who she said would call me to set up a time to come out and give me an estimate for the work. About 10 days later, I still had not heard anything so I called back a second time. The rep on the phone was very friendly and apologetic, saying she didn't know why I hadn't been contacted but that she would make sure I received a call this time. It has now been roughly 10 days since my second phone call and I still have not been called to set up a time for an estimate. Needless to say I will not be using Nombach again for any of my home improvement projects.

They do great work! They always follow through with everything they say they're going to do. Never any problems.

Everything went well. Scott was friendly and detailed. The only thing is that it took longer than expected for the completion of task.

It went well. After contacting Nombach they contacted back with a date their estimator would be out to look at my roof. The estimator arrived on time; looked at the roof then provided me with estimate. I okayed the estimate and a contract was written. At that time, I was advised they were a little back logged due to it being the time of year everyone is trying to get their roofs completed (before winter), so I was not given a date when work would begin. I was told I would be contacted a day before their crew would be out to work on the roof. Thursday October 23th, I heard a truck parking in front of my house. I noticed it was a Nombach truck; I was not made aware they would be working on that day. When I made the rep aware of what I was told and what I agreed to (notified of the work date) the rep apologized and began work. In the case of the job being a 2 day job, the rep advised me when he was leaving and when to expect him the next day. The rep arrived on time the next day and completed the job. Before the rep left he informed me of what actions were taken in getting the project completed. I thanked him and a check was written. Overall, my experience with Hans Nomback Home Exteriors was excellent!

Job appears to have gone well. The work was performed on a weekend because of their heavy schedule. The crew acted professionally and cleaned up after themselves. They did have trouble parking their truck because the site is located on a private street street with very little parking available. They drove up on the parkway which a neighbor complained about but no significant damage was done. We were unable to do much of a price comparison on their bid because ALL the other Angie's List contractors we called were booked up for the rest of the season.. This left us uneasy about the price, which seemed high based on our previous experiences but we went with them because they were available and we were having significant leaks at the time.

Nombach was professional, courteous, prompt, and reliable. They were easy to work with and did high quality work.

Porch work was completed first (started approx 1 week after work agreement was signed) and it has never looked better in the 35+ years we've been living in this house. I'm extremely pleased with the work that was done. Had to wait over 8 weeks for the read windows as they were being custom made due to the odd sizes of existing openings. Windows & doors installed over a 2 day period in early November and our rear porch area has never looked better. IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT.

Once they did finally come, they worked quickly. It was only done yesterday so we can't really comment on any maintenance issues.

On 9/11/14, I contacted Nombach via Angie's List and requested an estimate for some gutter work. Nombach responded the next day with a phone call from sales rep Milton. On 9/13/14, Milton called and we scheduled an appointment for 9/16. So far so good. On 9/16/14, Milton arrived to inspect and give estimate for the job. He attempted to enter the second story flat roof via the eave's hatch but could not open it. He stated that entry would have to be gained by using a 30-foot ladder to climb onto the flat roof to loosen it so that it could be removed for future access. Milton followed up on 9/18, and on 9/20 he called to let me know that he had not forgotten me and that another worker would be out on 9/20. He was very professional and answered all questions I had. Another worker named Felix arrived on 9/20 and attempted to pry the hatch loose unsuccessfully. On 9/21/14, Felix arrived with a 40-foot ladder and attempted to remove the hatch. He was unable to because the sealant used to waterproof the roof and eave hatch performed by Nombach in 2005 had evidently melted during the summer months and had really sealed the hatch to the eave. He really tried but the hatch would not budge. However, while on the roof, Felix inspected the roof and took photos for the sales rep Milton. He was also professional and courteous. On 9/26/14, Milton returned and wrote up an estimate for $1435 for new commercial pre-pitched gutters and a new downspout which would be relocated to another side of the building for better draining. Nombach would also fix the hatch so that it can be accessible in the future. The price included a preferred customer discount, including a senior citizen discount. Milton estimated that the work would be performed in about two weeks (week beginning 10/13/14). Contract was written up and signed on 9/26/14. After promising to begin work on 10/13/14, I received another call that a work crew would be out on 10/20. From 10/20 thru 10/22, the crew worked on the gutter, removing and repairing a new hatch and finally installing the downspout. They were professional and courteous and worked swiftly. I am pleased with the work performed, but in their haste to finish, they forgot to strap down the downspout. A minor detail but needs to be done. I called today, 10/23, and reported this to the office staff who promised to relay this to the work crew and/or Milton Baker.

We had an appointment to meet on Monday at 8am. No one showed up nor did I receive a call to cancel the appointment.

They were on time, cleaned up, hauled away all debris and inspected the work.

We can't say enough good things about Milton Baker. Milton was very knowledgeable and took his time going over the different products offered and the overall process. If fact, after choosing the siding and gutters, we had second thoughts on the color scheme.. We called Milton and he was very understanding and even brought over the book of samples and let us keep it until we were sure on the right selection for our home. The crew were very punctual, courteous and answered and explained any questions and concerns we had.

Everyone was on time and worked quickly. They had already explained what needed to be done. We were called to confirm anything and it all went smoothly. The work is very nice and matches well. The house is 27 years old and the sun hits that side. We are happy and would recommend this company.

It went well. They came and looked at the roof, told me what the issues were, and pointed out that my gutters did not have enough strapping. They even cleaned my gutters and cleaned up their mess afterwards. I was generally satisfied with the work they did however, they seemed to have missed a piece of roofing on the back porch which is part of the house.

Workers came on time and they had a crew and all the materials and supplies they needed on a huge truck. In 2 hours the gutters were up and they cleaned up every nail. On the next rain I saw no leaks. There also had been a bullet hole on my roof which was found during the inspection and that was also fixed. I would definitely use them again.

It went bad. The workers left trash around my house. They did not close my fence, and did not leave things in their right place when they left. The salesman did not communicate well with me at all. He mentioned he was overwhelmed and had a lot of things to do. He fell of track of my project so I had to stay on him. I explained to him that's now how you do business. He was not good at following-up on anything until it was time to make payment.

Everything was just fine with the exception of the huge cost.

The first appointment was set. Approximately 30 minutes before the appointment time, the rep called to advise he was running late by 15 to 30 minutes. The rep never showed for that appointment and never called. Two days went by and no contact, so I called to discuss with the manager. The manager was reasonable and set another appointment for the following day. That day and time arrived and went--no show, no call.

Nombach crew arrived at 8:00 am. They worked carefully and quickly as they knew what they were doing. All work was completed to our satisfaction. Everything was cleaned up when thye were finished. We were greatly pleased by the job they did.

I have used Nombach in the past, and been very pleased with the results. So naturally I called them first when I was ready for tuckpointing. They came out for an estimate on 5/5/14, and despite several phone calls by me, I still do not have the estimate. Today is 5/23/14

He went out and met me and got up on my roof and showed me exactly what was going on with my rental property. They came at 10am and didn't stop. They finished at 1:30. They cleaned up, no debris. Nelson was the one I worked with.

I called for an estimate and the response was very timely, All materials and aspects of the job were discussed in a very easily understandable manner. I am very pleased with the job and it was done in a professional manner. Their technicians were very polite. I would very much refer this company to anyone anticipating any exterior work on their home.
