Nombach Roofing & Tuckpointing

It was sooooo uncomfortable. Initially I called Nombach and left a voice mail message that I needed a quote on some work. Never heard back. I happened to pass their store one day in Blue Island and stopped in. The young lady was not that knowledgeable, but pleasant. Whenever I had a question she couldn't answer she would turn to some guy who was standing there looking at me but not talking to me and she would ask him and he would whisper the answer to her and look at me but not address me. I gave her my information from an at home consultation. Our house is over 100 years old. The front door is solid wood, 89 inches high and 44 inches wide. We are interested in a full view storm door so you can see the beautiful door and we can get a breeze in the summer. Not something you can get from Lowe's or Menard's (I tried). I get a call from a repairman who was not friendly and sounded downright irritated when I wasn't available the day he wanted to come out. He recapitulated and we settled on a date my husband and I would be both be home. I received no follow up call. Milton, arrived around 20 minutes late, didn't bother to call. Here's where it really gets weird. When I opened the door, he was barely polite. He said, "Hello", however, he did not introduce himself, smile, ask how we were, shoot the breeze, you know the normal salesperson,"build a rapport" sort of thing. But here's the thing - he never took his hands out of his pocked the entire time he was in our home. It was like he was refusing to shake our hands. He never asked what we wanted, he just stood there staring at me. I told him what I was looking for and he said "Yeah, I took the measurements, I'll get back to you with something." He never asked if we needed anything else, but I told him we wanted some flashing around the skylights and he said he might need to look at them from the inside. Then it was like he changed his mind because he didn't want to be there and said he'd just walk around and look from the outside. Did I mention we are a black family living on the south side? We also indicated we have a minor leak in the roof we'd like to get fixed. He barely acknowledged that and went outside. It was like pulling teeth dealing with him. I was so uncomfortable from trying to make conversation I just ended up leaving him outside. I couldn't decide if he was having another bad day (outside of the first one when he sounded ticked about having to come and give us a quote), or if he was racist (the hands in pocket, no physical contact thing) or if he was just a very poor salesperson. l find it hard to believe in this economy people don't want to deal with you because of the color of your skin. Fortunately, we have cash, and credit and will take our money to someone who acts like they want our business. I wonder if the whole company is like this or is it just a poor representation of the company? Wow. At any rate, that was last Thursday. It's Monday and we haven't heard from him, of course we really don't expect to hear from him again. Even if they do great work, do I really want to work with someone that's practically hostile?

Very timely appointments and only one day notice. Only company that actually went on the roof to take before and after pictures. Definitely will use again and kudos to Marc.

Their estimate was just under $14,000, which is almost double what some of the other companies I looked at quoted me. His estimate was a one page document that half of it was already pre-written.

I needed to get the gutters and downspouts replaced on my Father's house. It is a two story frame building in Bridgeport. On the sides of the house I could see daylight between the gutters and the house. On the back of the house the gutters where the old round type and they also where pulling away from the house. I called Hans Nombach Home Exteriors for a estimate. Cliff called back the next day and made an appointment to meet with me to do the work. He showed up on time and proceeded to let me walk him through what I needed to have done. After inspecting what I needed he quoted me his price and explained in great detail what was to be included and exactly how the job was to be done. I called Cliff up on Monday to give him the job. He stopped by the same day to go through the paperwork Once again he went through every step of the project and how it would proceed. I got a call the next morning from Jerry about coming out to do the work. They showed up right on time and had the job done in a few hours. Jerry pointed out some things about the roof I had noot known about and how they would go about making sure the gutters where installed properly. The job went smoothly just as Cliff had explained. Great dealing with a quality contractor. If I need this type of work again I need only make one call to Hans Nombach Home Exteriors.

They have a great service. They are very punctual, and cleaned up afterwards. The price was reasonable, also. The quality was very good.

the crew came and tore the roofing off. they replaced the bad wood and did the shingles.they finished in that same day and were gone.

The workers were prompt and polite. They completed the job, cleaned up after themselves, informed me that they were leaving and thanked me for my time.! I loved it!

They were punctual and courteous. I have used them earlier for my roof on my house and garage. They called back and said that if I was dissatisfied that they would come and correct the problem. What they did for me was for hard rain and they directed the spouts to the grass. We didn’t have any hard rains after that and I can’t say everything is fine. I won’t know if everything is working properly. It is working fine but the kind of rain I was having before I didn’t have after I did the work. We never had hard rain to see if the downspouts direct the rain away from the house because I was having a little leakage in the garage. I didn’t want to spend $10,000 to tear off the tiles in the basement. I had some other companies come out and they suggested that but I couldn’t afford to tear off the basement. I would have had to hire people to shift my furniture. I thought I would try this but I haven’t had hard rain to see if it is going to solve the problem. I have used them in the past and that’s why I called them again. I have recommended them to my neighbors.

Very professional. On time. Answered all questions. Did a great job. Will refer. Just very expensive, but was willing to pay to make sure the job was done right, and it was from start to finish.

The estimate they gave me was higher than other estimates I received but they were very professional and helpful. They left a great, complete, estimate form and were happy to answer any questions.

Nombach was the 3rd company I received an estimate from; I asked 2 other companies if the roof could be fixed or if I needed a complete removal and replacement. The first company, another Angie's List member that shall remain nameless, told me that it couldn't be fixed and needed a complete removal and replacement. I was not there during the estimate, so I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and say maybe they thought I wanted the entire roof removed. The second company gave me an estimate as well for a complete replacement, but I didn't get a chance to speak to them about their proposal because I was waiting until I received the estimate from Nombach. I was actually present for this estimate. Brett was the person I met with and he told me that I didn't need a complete replacement that the issues with my roof could be fixed and pointed out where it wasn't done properly and why I was having the problems I was having. I could have hugged him on the spot because he was saving me approximately $2000. I showed him the previous proposals and he pointed out that the other companies did not say in their proposals that anything was wrong with my roof. That's why I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they misunderstood what I wanted, since I was not there for my estimate. He spoke highly of one of the other companies that gave an estimate. Brett impressed me with his honesty and integrity and made me want to use his company even more. He called the next day and told me when he was coming out. He came when he said he was, there was no mess, the job looked amazing, and he did everything he said he would do. I am very happy and I definitely recommend Nombach. There are many other projects that I need done, like my concrete driveway and porch, and I will be calling them again. The garage was done first and unfortunately they dropped part on the gutter on my flowers but after that it was good. The rest of the work went smoothly and I was surprised beecause it did not take all day. I had expected at least four to six hours.

The price was too high for the amount of the work that needed to be done. This was just for half of a side of a house and for a small spot in front. They were very professional but I just could not pay that much for this job. The gentleman was very courteous as well that came out.

They did great job. I particularly liked a comment by the salesmen who advised that if there are stones and bricks on your roof they are liable to come in through the windows. Luckily for us that didn't happen. They did a really fantastic job on all 3 areas. I really am pleased with the outcome. They were on time, efficient and clean throughout the whole process.

I loved them. They did beautiful work and I would use them again in the future. They also cleaned up well after themselves. They also cleaned out the chimney after it was rebuilt.

Although I was'nt watching, my husband did. He was impressed. We were the first call of the day. They arrived at 9:30 AM. Spoke to my husband a few moments and got started. They were done in two hours time. Everything was cleaned up afterwards. We have had rain since then, no leaks in our living room. Best of all, no clogged gutters with leaves or seeds. We have two large maple trees in our yard, our neighbors also have trees. No debri.

Cost is my estimated total the business they lost: 50' of min 6" commercial guttering. Guttering on hip roof 3 car garage. New windows on 3 flat - 43 windows plus 6 glass block windows. New siding. Not a small package. You would think in this economic climate, a company would be thrilled to have the opportunity to do this work. Yes, it would be staged due to immediate financial limitations, but if they did a good job, they were "in". I filled out their form online on Sunday night 7/24/11. I received a call at 20:53 on 7/25/11. (Isn't that a bit late for sales calls?) The gentleman identified himself as being from Nombach. I asked when he could come out and give us estimates on the work - he said he was looking at Thursday afternoon. I initially said no because Mom had a Dr appt in the Loop at 10:30. Should be back by noon, but you never know. He then said the earliest would be Mon or Tue next week. Because we want to get this work started, I wanted to have my last quotes back this week. I said let's go for Thursday and if something happened that we would be delayed, I would call him. He responded with "Well then that appointment would be difficult to fill." and then silence. I said we ought to be back by then but this would be the best I could offer. Silence. I then followed up with "perhaps it would be best if I contacted you next week then." Silence. "hello?" "Perhaps we should contact you next week." Silence. I had enough. "Thank you and good night."Unbelievable. If that is the attention that you give what, in my perception, is a large sale, then you don't deserve it. We will go elsewhere.

.They came out when they said they would. I thought the price was a little bit high though. I would consider getting another estimate from them in the future.

They arrived at the appointed time. The new roof is about 40ft. long and about 12ft wide. They did a wonderful job, no clutter left behind. We liked their work so much we are going to have them to repair the roof on the house, replace a portion of gutter and put on gutter guards. Sorry we cannot remember what we paid. It was approximately $3000. or so.

They were very nice and very helpful. They came out on time when they said they would and were very professional. They were very informative. There was no problem and I have no complaints about them. They gave me a referral.

They were very prompt and professional. However, the corners of the garage were leaking and they never came out to repair them even asking them twice. They are a bit pricey.

The experience was not too good at first. The estimator, who came out, estimated the job but did not do the correct estimation on what I really needed. Then they never followed up in getting back to me after they gave me an estimate so that I could tell them that I needed something changed. I complained to the company and finally who had to do something, the one who came out and gave me an estimate of what I needed done was incharge of their workers and not estimators. I never spoke to him again. After I spoke to the second guy and he did the work. I was very pleased with what they did after that. What I liked is that they came back and did the job that I requested the first time. I would use their services again in the future. I hope I don’t have to deal with the first guy I dealt with. I hope that the sales person is no longer with them.

It went well from beginning to end.

They delivered what they said they would. We had a contract agreement to do specific work, and they did it. They were reasonably priced too.

Jack came out and took out his tools, i.e, pen, ladder, brochure and showed my husband and I photos of our beaten down roof, chimney, etc. Within one week after a deposit of $100 we had our new roof. I am more at ease.
