Response from Nombach Roofing & Tuckpointing
September 20, 2012 The Member Address Somplace USA After speaking with the estimator about what had happened during the visit to this customers home, it is apparent that the member is simply frustrated over the price of the repairs. Slandering our company over a price quote he was unhappy with is ludicrous. Our estimator went to the member’s home on the 29th of August to go over the details of the work that needed to be done on his home. After a 45 minute overview of the high quality material that we use, the amount of detail we put into each job, as well as discussing the 4’ x 10’ area of roof decking that needed to be replaced, our estimator did verbally give the member the price of what it would cost to do the work. Nombach does not claim to be the cheapest nor the most expensive company throughout Chicago land, however, in this case, Nombach was on the higher end of the member’s budget. After hearing our price, the member proceeded to bluntly tell our estimator that he unfortunately would not be using our services. When asked who he had in mind to do the work, the member said he was going to go with a company that was known to Nombach as a “fly-by-night” business with no licenses or insurance. We informed the member of our knowledge of this “company” and he refused to heed our advice to stay away simply because the price was so low. Shortly after our estimator was told that the member was going with another company, he saw no need to leave the customer with a written estimate. Our estimator promptly and respectfully left the member’s home without any indication that there was any animosity. There is a saying that our founder Hans Nombach would use from time to time and that is “the bitterness of poor workmanship remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.” In this case, we feel that this is exactly what has happened.
