He was fantastic.
Description of Work: 1. Reinstall closet shelving. 2. Install timber top to closet with supports. 3. Install over 50 canvases and other pieces to high condo loft walls. 4. Install ceiling fan...unable to complete as parts weren't correct. Not Nico's fault or responsibility. 5. Change door lock. All of this was done by Nico with the assistance of his son Sebastian. Both were polite and professional. Nico was constantly checking that the specs for pics were correct. I was completely happy with his work and definitely recommend him.

Extremely well.
Description of Work: Door maintenance. The doors leaked after the new carpet and tile had been installed. It was an emergency and Nicholas Lopez responded right away and did the best job of anyone has done over the years. we know this as a fact because it rained the very next day and not one drop came in! Hooray!

Everything went fine!
Description of Work: Nico adjusted my main door to the outside and installed a new barrier strip on the bottom to help with drafts. I also had an outside gate that had blown off its hinges, he replaced the hinges. He replaced the weather stripping on a second exterior door. Since the initial visit when he did the already mentioned items I have had him back to replace a screen on a window and hang some hooks in a brick wall. My neighbors have also hired him to re-caulk their bathroom and kitchen sinks and repair / paint drywall.

Description of Work: Nico did an excellent job of re-hanging the back door to my house. Previously I had to pull up on the door handle when closing and locking the door. It was extraordinarily difficult to use. The door and my new locks work smoothly and easily now. | |One problem, I had Nico replace the old door handle and dead-bolt locks because the door handle was only loosely connected to the door due to all my pulling on it. (I had to continuously tighten the screws to make sure the door knob didn't fall off.) For some reason the new door handle is also fairly poorly attached. I'm not sure what's going on with it but wished Nico had observed and addressed this problem.

Description of Work: Paid $109.00 to Angies List--Nico went to the store to get the correct parts & materials needed for my door weatherproofing & also had to put in some extra time to finish the job for an additional $100.00. Plus I gave Nico a $20.00 tip for the good job. Grand total $224.00

Description of Work: Nico repaired two sets of stairways. He replaced my porch stairs outside and repaired/replaced stairs inside my house. He kept in contact with me by calling to let me know when he was on his way to my house and always arrived at the scheduled time. It was obvious by speaking to him, watching him work and the end result that he was extremely skilled as a carpenter and a construction professional. I will definitely call Nico again to do other projects and handyman work around my house. I would absolutely refer Nico to others who are looking for a handyman/construction worker. He also has a great outgoing, friendly personality.

Description of Work: It was great! They helped re-balance our front door and cut down significantly on the draft we had coming through the cracks. He also let us know that we have a door that is too heave for the frame and that we can expect to see continued issues with our setup. Since we're restricted by an HOA, it's something we can now take to the board to address.

My husband and I are doing a rehab project and had been puzzled about what to do with the kitchen floor for weeks. The problem was that it was far from level. Each square foot of the floor was a different level than the square foot next to it, and the kitchen was open plan and had to meet the hardwood floors on either side of it. Some contractors we had called to give us an estimate simply said to just put cement board over it and tile, and not to worry about the levels since it was just a rehab project and people might not notice. That was simply ridiculous, because some areas of the floor were nearly an inch lower than areas three feet away. Some spots were already the same height as the adjoining floors of the other rooms, so placing cement board on top of the existing floor would just raise it even more and do nothing for evening out the levels. What we immediately liked about Nicholas when he came out to the house was that he was willing to give us several options and give us a straight answer to which solutions were the best and how we could make them fit our budget. The rehab project was coming to the end and our budget was nearly spent. He told us that it would probably cost just as much to rip out the existing floor boards and plywood (there was a mix of both since the house had an extension built on to it that started a quarter of the way into the existing kitchen area). He was the first contractor to even mention the idea of taking out the floor first. When he gave us a quote for ripping out the floor, laying cement board and tiling it was still a bit steep for our budget (we had always planned on doing this job ourselves before we realized the floor was such a mess). So together with Nicholas we worked out a solution to fit our budget - he would prepare the floor for us to tile by ripping out the existing floor and laying down the cement board. Nicholas was prompt when he came out to give us an estimate, and surprised us by doing the work earlier than expected. He came out to give his estimate on a Monday and said that he would be able to start ours on the weekend or the following Monday because he was in the middle of doing another job, which was perfectly acceptable. But on Tuesday he called us and surprised us by saying he was going to leave his crew to continue the other job and that he would come out himself to start ours tomorrow. He did exactly that, and he would have completed the job in one day if there was light, but we had just painted the kitchen and had not installed the lighting yet. He came back the following morning and was finished by the afternoon. When we came to evaluate his work we were pleasantly surprised with the quality, as well as how well Nicholas cleaned up - there was no evidence of any mess, and the old floor boards had been taken out into the driveway and neatly piled up by the garage near our other construction garbage. We were a bit nervous about any damage to the walls because they had just been painted, but there wasn't a single nick. We were very pleased with the work Nicholas did, his promptness, the care he took, his neatness, his willingness to give helpful advice, and the fact that he is pleasant to work with. Since we plan on doing more rehab projects, getting along with the contractor is very important and we will definitely be using Nico's again.
Description of Work: Nicholas tore out the existing floor boards and plywood in the kitchen and covered it with cement board, ready for us to tile. It was impossible to tile the existing floor as is because of multiple dips throughout. He was prompt, very nice and extremely helpful - he even suggested what we could do to solve a few other problems we had with the house, which was a rehab project.

He was always prompt and always left the work area clean. He completed the work on the time schedule that he gave us in the beginning. He has just put in a backsplash in the kitchen and again went to the store with me to pick out tiles and accent tiles. He will be doing smaller tasks while he is here like, installing ceiling fans, fixing closet doors, putting up shelves in the garage and adding 2 new outlets. I highly recommend his work.
Description of Work: Last year, Nick gutted and remodeled our bathroom. He was so very helpful from the beginning. He went with us to the stores to help us pick out everything from mirrors to vanities to tile for the floor. After finishing the bathroom, he converted a bedroom into very workable office space for my husband and me. Nick is very easy to work with, does a beautiful job with remodeling. He rewired the light in our garage and put in a coach light outside.
