This is not a business you want to entrust your valuables with. Farhad has held my pieces for over two years. He was supposed to sell them. He now will not release my pieces unless I pay him in excess of $8,000 - $3,500 for shipping costs and the remainder is for storage. I never agreed to any of these costs; there was no agreement, verbal or written, that I will be responsible for these costs; I was never notified that Farhad will no longer make any attempts to sell my pieces and I must pick them up otherwise I will incur storage fees. I have made SEVERAL requests for documents that support the alleged shipping costs I referred to above. MIR Appraisal has refused to provide it. Farhad operates, at best, a street-corner ghetto operation. He dodges complaints by concealing himself behind his employee, Caitlin Barnebee. Avoid this individual and this business. *Update to Service Provider Respons* Farhad Radfar, My divorce is not relevant here. It's the way you operate. Your story of the events is a downright falsehood. You allege that I wanted a high reserve. We never discussed dollars. All I asked was that I approve the reserves before an item is listed for auction. I believe this to be a reasonable request. Yes, I did refuse to sign the contract unless certain terms were amended in the contract. In addition to the request to participate in determining a reserve, I also asked that the storage cost provision be removed. This is a cost that you represented, during one of our earlier telephone conversations, that you would not charge me regardless if the pieces were sold or not. Shockingly, this is now a cost I am required to pay in order to have my pieces returned to me. For the record, you never called me or Cindy informing us that if we do not pick up our pieces, we will be charged for storage. Regarding shipping, I have been requesting proof of shipping (invoice and manifest) that supports the $3,500 charge ($1,750 shipping to New York and $1,750 shipping back to Chicago). Your associate, Caitlin Barnebee, stated that it would take some time to get the documents from the shipping company. She also mentioned that you ship in bulk. I was clearly aware of your shipping process. In our last email exchange, she stated that she can no longer provide me with the support because it contains confidential information. I find this claim quite dubious as I would be surprised that you have client names on the shipping invoice. Regardless, you can easily redact that information. I have to conclude that the documents do not support your alleged shipping costs. Farhad Radfar, you refused to discuss my requests for contract changes. You have held my pieces for over two years and, as far as I aware, only made one effort to sell them. Consequently, it now will cost me in excess of $8,000 to have you release my pieces. To any readers, I advise you to look elsewhere when searching for someone to consign your pieces to.
