My next door neighbor got new shingles. Manny came out with his crew, and at 730am my wife heard banging and people walking on our roof. *** im not getting my roof done remind you.they set up sheets of plywood from his roof to my roof and use my roof to walk on and do work on his roof. Its all about respect and Manny shouldve knocked on our door and asked or told the neighbor to ask if it was ok if they can use our roof. Ive been in union and nonunion construction for 21 years and never seen ignorance and unprofessionalism like that. If i was home and not working downtown i wouldve thrown them off the roof. Manny had the nerve to lie to my wife and tell her the plywood was for our benefit so our house dont get damaged..... no it was for your benefit cuz you wouldve paid for it if it got damaged. If i disnt make $48 an hour i wouldve left work and thrown him off the roof. I have brown shingles, my neighbors old shingles were brown and he got black shingles put on and theres black shingles all in my gutter and my neighbors gutter, they left loose nails on the roof and in the gutters, they didnt caulk any exposed nails where installed, they sloppiest work i have ever seen literally and i got a bunch of photos to proove it. There is black shingles debri all over my back porch, nails on the street and around our houses. For Manny to be the one that is the owner if this company and lie and allow this disaster of a job is a disgrace.

the actual workers installing the siding didn't speak english, so it was very difficult communicating with them. they were not punctual. they did sloppy work. they did not finish the project on time. they did not replace rotten wood on back of building as stated in the contract...the foreman argued that the wood was fine.

Very specific estimate and contract proposal. Considerably lower price compared with other contractors quotes. Work performed exactly as specified with good quality workmanship. Project took a little longer than expected, but completed job was well worth the wait and met every expectation.

Some of the smoothing, and maybe not quite enough cleanup. It was good, but they could have been a little bit better.

Quote that they provided was 25% higher than 4 other companies.

Hard working guys from the city...reasonable prices...not the usual "Naperville pricing'

I called Mikes Construction and talked to Manny. We have used them in the past with good experiences. Manny came and did estimate as promised. The website for Mikes Construction said they would honor 5% discount if requested. I asked and he did give me the 5%. Brought samples of hardwood flooring to the house. We agreed on one and they started work less than a week later. They used Rauls Hardwood Floors for the job. There were 2 guys to do the job. Very professional and wonderful work. Mikes construction had some guys move our furniture to the attic at our request. We could not have done that ourselves. Rauls Hardwood Floor guys moved all furniture back and put felt on the bottom of all of our furniture. We bought the felt ourselves but were grateful someone did it for us. I am sure the price of moving the furniture was in the price but well worth it. We had a good experience with Mikes Construction and always know we will get exactly as stated in the contract. Rauls Hardwood Floors also should be noted as good work done.

They have good workmanship and they're honest.

I contracted Mike's Construction to perform a roof repair and water damage repair. They came to the house and quoted the roof repair and internal work including replacing drywall. My ex-wife who lives in the house called to inform me that the drywall was not being replaced. Apparently the workers decided it wasn't needed even though the work was listed on the quote. I received no call from Mike's to verify, or confirm this change. I called and was told that the drywall work was going to be performed. It never was. They were also to remove an unneeded roof fan and cover the hole. This was also not performed. They left paint stains on a mirror, and the carpet, and left a satellite dish dangling from the cables without notification. I do not trust that any work that I can't see such as the ice shield that was to be installed, has been performed. I wiill not be using or recommending Mike's in the future.

I had to decrease the scope of work to meet my budget and they were able to reprice the job quickly. They called me a couple of days before they started. The job went very well with all work complete in 1 1/2 days. They left no debris on site. We had a little communication issue relating to the color of the siding installed. I resolved the issue with Mike and Manny very quickly. I will definitely use them again for this type of work.

Mike's did a great job, we have hired them for several jobs at our condo association. We will indeed be working with them again.

It was a wonderful experience. They were on time each day, they were courteous and remained professional and polite the entire job. At the end of each day, they cleaned up after themselves and the work area. The owner Mike consulted with me each step of the way, he provided references, pictures, and he actually did a presentation of his work when he came to give me an estimate.

New bathroom in the basement of our bungalow. All work was done by Derrik, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, tile, finishes. Excellent workmanship; very quiet worker, very few quesitons or complaints from contractor, just came in and figured it all out based a few hand sketches. They suggested several improvements to the plan, and didn't charge any extras. Also had them strip off old linoleum tile and refinish our kitchen hardwood floor; very good job.

Very disappointed. Called them back in April 2011 to set up appointment to discuss my needs and to get a quote for building a dormer, remodeling my entire upstairs and installing a bathroom. They blew me off and forgot about appointment. Thereafter, I contacted them and rescheduled. I met with an individual named Manny Celis, who, during our meeting, was very nice, professional and apologetic. He told me he would get me a quote within a week. The quote never came. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and called them three times to get the quote. Finally, on the third follow-up call, I told them that I felt like I was chasing them down and that I'd appreciate a return call. Business must be good for them because I got nothing. Mr. Celis and Mike's Construction proved to be nothing but a waste of time for me.

I used them once and then got a little estimate a second time. They were very prompt and still followed through. They were very professional. They explained everything to me. They brought out pictures and referrals. They covered every base. The job they did went very well. They were timely and did everything on time. They cleaned up very well. I've had no problems with any of the work they have done. They were always polite and professional. They allowed me to ask questions. I've received really good service from them. I got 3 or 4 estimates for the work they did. They are really nice guys and I would use them again.

Good quality work, cleaned up, prompt. My only complaint is that the owners quoting it were fast to respond when trying to get the job, but after we paid the deposit and the quoted lead time was taking longer, numerous calls were not returned. Finally, someone called and got the job done. My suggestion is that the same customer service in "getting" the job be adhered to after deposits are taken and lead times change. Or, quote longer lead times so that customer expectations are not frustrated. Overall, good price and good quality, I would use again.

I have used them before for some remodeling and windows. They have a pretty good reputation in my area and their prices are comparable. The only thing I didn't like was that it is a Polish outfit and it is only one man. He was only here two days and it was hard to communicate with them because he spoke very little English. I told Mike I didn't like that. They started out with more men and kept reducing the number of men that came so it took them seven days to do the project. Mike is a nice guy and I told him and he said that I didn't have anything else to do. I would use him again but I didn't like that it took so long and I couldn't communicate with them. Another company was less in price but I didn't like them because I feel a company is as good as their workers and Mike has good workers. The only thing I didn't like was that I couldn't communicate. They do good quality work. They were on time every morning; they were early. They didn't stop only to eat. They were responsive and cleaned up afterwards. I would use them again but I would make sure they had someone that spoke English so I could talk to them. He does not try to cut corners and the materials he uses are good. He has a good rating on the Better Business Bureau and he is very proud of that.

Overall it did not go well. That is why they have a C rating. The physical work to install the cellar doors was good - but the whole project was not just the physical installation. The sales person who came for the estimate was 30 minutes late - a bad start, but I decided to overlook. They had not installed cellar doors before - but did the research on the internet and found a company in PA that manufactured these types of doors. I signed the contract and immeditatly the same sales person was back to collect the 50% deposit and told me that the doors would be in 4 weeks. Initally, the same sales person was responsive to emails and phone calls. But, as time moved past the 4 weeks he became unavailable and vanished. This was very disturbing - since the only recommendation that I had for them was the reports on Angie's List. Because I was not getting any response, I contacted the owner - I had to go to BBB to find his email address. He responded but never really addressed the issue that his sales person vanished. He told me the truth about the delays and I continued to contact him for updates. Finally the doors arrived at my home - which was never told to me when I signed the contract - I insisted that he be there to accept the delivery. When the rain stopped, the doors were installed by an employee and the owner. And... immediately, they asked for the balance of the bill. I will not use them or recommend them because of the poor communication and as this job kept getting delayed, this was really an opportunity for Mikes Construction to show their customer focus and reach out to me - they chose to focus elsewhere. I also felt that the excuses that the sales person gave for not returning calls or emails was lame - his cell phone service was poor!

On the whole, I was pleased. Their work seems to be of good quality after the first couple of weeks. They grasped what I was trying to accomplish. They didn't try to sell me services/products I didn't need. When they were forced to add some plywood and thus increase the price slightly they justified it well, and charged me a reasonable increase. I have two small complaints: first, they assured me the work would take one week and it took two instead (that is not major, but it is worth mentioning); second, and more seriously, when for several days no workers showed up I called the man who sold me the job to see what was up he never returned my call...that was incredibly aggravating and entirely unprofessional...eventually the work did get done, and he explained to me later that he was on vacation, but they need to fix that in the future. On the whole, I would consider using them again for other jobs as the quality of the work was good, and that is the main thing with me.

I got the information for Mike from a friend who saw his reviews on Angie's list. My brother broke our glass door so Mike gave us an estimate for the door, and since he was out here we also got one for gutters on the garage and dormer and an area with damaged siding. We had another contractor that came out, his price was slightly below the estimate we received from Mike's but he was no where to be found online and could not provide insurance information. So Mike was the winner. We really like the work he did, and in case my brother breaks anything else we will be in touch with Mike.

Great group of workers, friendly & courteous. All work completed as contracted. Couple minor problems were handled and corrected immediately. Very professional & excellent results. I've had a few other contracts at my home for other jobs & they all have made positive comments about my new deck and asked who built it. I love saying......Mike's Construction! 2 other quotes were cheaper....but you get what you pay for...and I had a referral from a co-worker that gave Mike an A+ rating.

I found Mikes construction on the Better Business Bureau website. My mother is very happy with the work, plus everything was ready for the long weekend.

My coworker referred Mike’s Construction to me last year, they did the windows in his ranch home. The windows at my house were old and not sturdy. This was especially a problem during hot summer days and during winter.

I was very impressed with Mike’s Construction. I had my roof redone 2 times before I called Mike… and I am glad I called. Roof bumps kept appearing on my roof even after I had it fixed (by a different company). He explained that redoing the roof will only fix the problem temporarily (which is what the other two companies did), the problem was my addition (done by a different company) because it didn’t let air circulate. I had the air circulation problem and roof finally fixed. The quality of work was outstanding, Mike’s knowledge was impeccable and I am 100% satisfied with the work his crew did. I plan on having them remodel my basement this fall. I highly recommend Mike’s Construction.

Company person (I forget their name) came out looked at work to be done and was very nice and chatty like a salesman, received an estimate which was higher than others via phone which took longer than promised by several days, told the person we were going with another company, person then started telling me what there estimate involved and I said no thanks goodbye and then I received calls from this person yelling at me that I'm the kind of person which this person hates etc. Suffice it to say this person has a problem with his temper.
