They were punctual. Charles is a very nice guy. Solid job on a fairly easy project. He was able to come in the next day and do the work. I would recommend and hire again.

Charles and he crew did a wonderful job. This is the second time we've hired his services. The first was a complete remodel of our master bathroom, the tile work is beautiful and the extra touches they did to make it look perfect were greatly appreciated. This time they installed crown molding, painted, installed a tile back splash in the kitchen and guest bath, installed a medicine cabinet and fixed minor problems that we just could't get to. Also, listen to Charles' suggestions, he took our ideas and bumped them to the next level. The price quote was spot on, the work was done in a timely manner and all with friendly, courteous professionalism.

Charles came the day right after I contacted him with my availability. I had questions about a few drywall, plumbing installation, and water damage concerns around the house, and Charles not offered to work on the repairs jobs, but also gave us advice on how to do it ourselves if we were on a budget. Everyone was very professional. They were on time, did a wonderful job, and took the time to ask me for my opinions etc as the work was being completed.

The job took two days. Charles McFarland suggested that since we were taking down the walls, we may as well add a light going down the stairs (there was no light previously). We agreed and an electrician came by to install the light fixture as well as upgrade the wiring. All the people who worked on the job were prompt, courteous and professional. The job was worth the money paid.

Almost 4 weeks later, and despite a followup email to McFarland, I have had no contact from the provider, nor have I received the promised quote for the work we need to have done.

The individual who owns the company is really personable. He explains things and he's patient with people so that's a really good thing. His guys were polite. They came when they said they would come. They did it within the time they said they were going to do it. They had the best price. Quality was great. I would absolutely use them in the future.

I purchased a special, but wasn't ready to have the work done immediately. When I called to have it done, Robert was on it. He was concerned that I didn't have four hours worth of work, so offered his guys' services for any other work I needed to have done. The guys were fast, and did have time to hang a wall cabinet for me. A small part of the ceiling work sagged, and Robert sent someone quickly to re-repair. I am very happy with the work.

They kept postponing but it was fine. They were very professional the guys that came.

Abraham and Mario worked well together, and cleaned up very thoroughly after they finished. They were respectful and, although I was home alone while they worked, I never felt uncomfortable. I had the distinct pleasure of meeting George McFarland, the owner, as he stopped by while work was being performed. The fact that the owner bothered to travel to my home bolstered my confidence in the outcome. And he is a very nice man! When I mentioned to Mr. McFarland that my husband and I were thinking about additional improvements, it became clear that he possesses imagination and a keen eye. Ultimately, I was so pleased with the quality of work that I purchased additional time in order to have unplanned work included. When our budget permits, I definately look forward to hiring McFarland Remodeling to complete additional work on our home.

I want to compliment Charles and his team on a job well done. They did an excellent job, and was very professional. They were very prompt, arrived exactly on time. They were very respectful of my home, and I've never had anyone clean up behind themselves as well as they did. It's amazing to see the finished work, and very difficult to imagine how it looked just hours before! They went over the allotted time, but did not charge me for it. I cannot say enough good things about Charles and this company and I highly recommend them.

This was by far one of the easiest and most satisfactory transactions I've had with a contractor. Charles called me to set up a time and arrived promptly. I showed him what work needed to be done. He made suggestions as to which work would give me the most value for my purchase (I bought a Angie's List deal). He explained what any additional charges would be if we went over the allotted time. His worker was a true craftsman. The repair was done to perfection and the work area was left as clean as before he started.

Charles was extremely prompt in replying to my request for last-minute drywall work prior to some out of town guests arriving. They were replacing drywall around air ductwork that had been removed in a small bathroom. I had purchased a deal for 4 hours drywall repair, and upon seeing the work in person, Charles informed me that would not take the full 4 hours and asked if there was any other work his team could do. I found a few other patch repairs for the team to do, and they accomplished all of them in a very timely and professional manner. They cleaned up amazing, especially after all the dust created by drywall, mud and taping.

Very well. Fast but meticulous work. Exactly what we wanted with very little need to explain or re explain details. Owner visited to introduce himself and check on work.

Charles and his guy was great. They came in and patched up the ceiling and left it looking new.

I had an emergency because my shower valve broke, and I only have one bathroom. The maintenance staff had to come in and turn off the water, but I had to call a plumber to fix the valve. I got his number because he has done work in my building before, and I wanted to make sure the plumber knew the maintenance staff and was familiar with the building. I called him, and he called me back right away and came out to assess the problem right away. He knew my situation was an emergency, and I felt like he was taking advantage with the quote that he gave me ($980 in labor alone for 7 hours of work-- four hours which would be spent waiting for pipes to drain). When I questioned him on the high labor cost, he didn't offer me an explanation - he just became defensive. He scoffed at me when I had questions about the rate that he had quoted me. I told him I wanted to do my due diligence and do my research (I hadn't looked him up on Angie's List yet) before making a decision, and I also wanted to get a couple more quotes. He promised he would follow up with me the following day. After researching on AL, I simply didn't have time to look into other contractors so I decided just to stomach the high cost. He failed to return two phone calls and a text message, even after promising to follow up with me the next day. Good thing I didn't go with him - I found someone much more professional for half the cost. Sometimes an inflated price is worth it for prompt service and good communication, but I'm not willing to pay it to a contractor looking for situations to take advantage of. Even if his prices were fair market value for Chicago (I'm not from here, so I'm not sure), he did a terrible job making me feel comfortable with the value.
