He was fantastic. He was responsive, very punctual, and cleaned up after himself. He also has a great sense of humor, so he was fun to talk with. When asking him about some other projects we had to do, he gave advice on some solutions. We would definitely hire him again.

I had purchased a Big Deal to have all my casement windows and doors checked and/or winterized. Martins showed up early and went quick to work. He identified a couple of gaps in my windows (installed new in my condo seven years ago) and was able to weatherstrip those as well. While he was on-site, I learned he does other remodeling and contracting work, so I'll be in touch with him regarding a remodel of my master bath and adding a wooden mantle above my fireplace.

It went ok. Again, I think my double-hung windows posed a bigger problem vs what the Big Deal was supposed to fix. A suggestion would be to either have a deal that accounts for double hung windows, or have verbiage in the coupon explicitly stating what types of windows this service would accommodate.

Martins did an excellent job repairing our front door frame using wood, molding, and some elbow grease. He was very good to communicate with by email and phone, and worked with us to schedule a time to come discuss the project and complete the repair. He was honest about the options, and did exactly what he promised to do. Most importantly, the work looks great, and is even better than what I was hoping for. We are looking for other projects around the house for this skilled craftsman!

Our first project in our house was remodeling the first floor which was going to be a complete renovation. I know nothing about remodeling or renovation. I asked a friend who recently had her kitchen remodeled. She recommended MB Design & Build. My friend claimed that Martins was a creative and innovative designer. She also said that Martins also was able to do all of the reconstructing with his crew of contractors and Construction Company. When I called MB Design & Build I was able to speak directly with Martins. I was pleasantly surprised to be able to speak with the owner directly. Martins was professional and listened to my concerns and many questions. I began to feel excited about our remodel instead of feeling anxious. Martins was able to show several designs on how to remodel our home. We discussed costs and time frames. I have to admit my friend was 100% correct that Martins Buka Design and Build are the best remodeling company. My first floor is gorgeous. Everything from the floors to the ceiling lights to the walls and windows, but my new kitchen is the heart of it all! Everything was done with the cost and time frames we set. I highly recommend Martins Buka Design & Build for any remodeling home project.

He has an excellent problem solving thought process and determination to figure out how to make something work. Also had a wonderful attitude. Although I only hired him for a few hours he was not watching the clock to count every minute, he was more concerned with getting what I needed to have done completed He's an honest and fair individual I would trust- he had that "eastern european" sense of quality and pride in his craft. i wouldn't hesitate to hire him again and before he left my house I had already recommended him to a friend who was rehabbing an apartment. I think he can tackle anything.

I am 100% satisfied with my master bedroom remodel by Martins Buka. Martins and his construction team were extremely knowledgeable and helpful in designing and construction of our master bedroom.Martins listened to our ideas and then created design options. Martins showed us several custom designs for our bedroom. We chose a design that would actually create more space in our bedroom and allow us to add custom closets. My new master bedroom is exquisite. My custom closets allow room for all of my clothes and shoes. The quality of the construction is perfection. The contractors were all polite and friendly and clean. They cleaned the areas they worked on each day. I also was impressed with how hard they worked. I would definitely recommend them to everyone looking for interior design or remodeling. I will be calling them for my next project

On Sep 14th, I emailed the provider as directed in the Big deal, to setup a time to meet. After a week, I called on Sep 22nd to leave a message asking for a response. He reeplied on the 24th with a message asking when I had emailed. I forwarded my email to him again on the 25th.We then spoke on 27th. I asked to meet in the evening or on the weekend as I work weekdays. He explained that he was very busy and that appointments after 6 pm were very difficult for him as were weekends. We agreed to reconnect the following week on October 5th to talk again.He next emailed on the 3rd to ask if I still could only meet after 6 or on weekends. My job situation having not changed in a week, I replied on the 5th that yes that was my availability. On the 6th he asked me for my address and said that he will try to make it out next week. I told him my address on the 8th and said I looked forward to meeting with him any evening between tuesday and friday.Having heard nothing on the 16th, I emailed again asking when we could meet. On the 18th I received another email asking if I was still only available on evenings or weekends. On the 25th he asked if we could meet the following day as he would be in my area. I said that would be fine, but that I would not be home until 6 pm. I did not hear from him again until the 28th when he again said he would try to be in my area the following week. I told him that I was no longer interested in meeting as I could not see moving forward with any sort of project given my frustration in trying to setup an initial consultation.

I called to set up an appointment, unfortunately they were busy and were unable to complete the job within the next week or two, in which I need to have it completed by.

It went fantastic. He returned a phone call promptly. We had a great discussion. We exchanged a few emails/photos of the project. He provided his thoughts and ideas. His ideas are creative and well thought out. Scheduling was easy. He was on-time. The job went as planned and we are very satisfied. The work was very high quality.

We had a small project to install new crown moulding and floor baseboards for our entry-way (roughly 8' x 6' room). I saw MB Design and Build's deal for 2 hours of work at a discounted price and decided to give Martins a call. I am certainly glad I did....Martins was very punctual, friendly, and most importantly, a great carpenter. He took his time and did an excellent job with all of the corner cuts so the wood fit just right. The install went well and everything looks great! Although this was a small job, Martins certainly treated us like a top priority. I have a few other carpentry realted jobs to tackle in the future and I will certainly be giving MB Design and Build another call soon. Highly recommended!

If you are looking to have remodeling done in your home, you must call Martins Buka Design & Build. I compared several remodeling companies and chose Martins Buka for several reasons. The number 1 reason was that Martins offers both the ability to custom design any remodel and complete the construction. It is a 1 stop shop for new construction and for remodeling. I also felt that Martins was able to listen and understand my needs. Martins took the time to clearly explain my options. He also explained time lines and worked with me on my budget for the project. He also communicated with me through the entire project. I was always informed of progress or any issues that occurred. The finished remodel of my kitchen belongs in a magazine. To say it is beautiful is an understatement. I am 100% satisfied with Martins Buka Design & Build.

He makes any project go smooth and it will be done in no time. When I bought my single family home and wanted to remodel I didn't have any idea were to start. I met with few contractors but went with MB design because Martin had ability to design according my needs and build at the same time . He truly listen to me, took me by hand and guided through whole process. Martin and his team rehabbed all house starting from bathroom tiles, kitchen..., to a custom build cabinet in the living area. I'm very pleased with the job quality and smooth process through the whole experience. Highly recommended!

My fiancée and I have recently bought a 2,000 sq.f. foreclosed loft in the River North. The unit had a lot of potential with sixteen feet ceilings and huge open space, but we knew from the very beginning that it will require complete renovation. After quite a bit of research and seeing many crappy designs, we came across MB Design & Build, run by Martin Buka. We checked their completed projects and were thoroughly impressed with Martin?s work. After taking detail notes of our vaguely expressed ideas, Martin came up with a holistic, fully thought out redesign plan for our place including full kitchen remodel, lighting, bathrooms, re-flooring, etc. Not only Martin?s plan looked great, but he shown great restrain and cost control, making sure that cash is spent on things that matter. I.e. he found us a custom cabinet maker who replicated modern Italian kitchen cabinets at a fraction of a cost and much faster. Martin also showed supreme knowledge of materials and attention to detail, taking advantage of exposed concrete, wood and glass. In short, we could not ask for a better experience?the resulting design was phenomenal and the project was completed on time and on budget (doesn?t happen often). I would greatly recommend MB Design to anyone making a serious renovation.

I have only one remodeling company we will work with. Martins Buka Design & Build is the best interior design and remodeling company in Chicago. I have used Martins Buka Design & Build to remodel and construct all of my properties. Martins always offer custom design options that are creative and fit my goals for the units. I am always amazed at how Martins is able to look at a kitchen, living room, or bathroom with a fresh perspective to generate designs that enhance the current space. The latest project that Martins did at my apartment building was helping me remodel an outdated rental unit. The kitchen was outdated. Martins made this project fun to design and to install. His contractors knocked out a wall to make the kitchen larger. Martins custom design included added more cabinets, countertops and an island. It also included changing the tile to hardwood floors. Martins design also included adding canned lights and track lighting by the island. The granite counter top and stone back splash added a wonderful contrast to the hardwood floors, yet perfectly blended all the colors together. I have never been disappointed with the quality of work. I have met many designers and contractors. Martins Buka Design & Build is the best in Chicago.

I was extremely satisfied with their work. All the work was done up to my expectations and beyond it. I have never had remodeling work done in my house before and i was very concerned to start this project since I had no idea who to look for and how much would it cost. Martins and his team was recommended by my friends which i am very grateful for. First of all I think his price was very reasonable for the great work he did on my house. The quality of the work was impeccable. Another great thing about Martins work was that it took less time than I expected. I thought that I will have to relocate myself for few month, while remodeling is being done, but for all the work that needed to be done it took him and his team only 4 weeks. Also, i was not sure how to design my bathroom, but Martins came up with the most amazing design I would never have thought of myself, since I have no idea about building things and designing. The most impressive part of his job was, when he came up with most fassionable, incredibly beautiful designs. I totally recommend Martin and his team for his commitment and quality work.

Interior design sometimes can get very expensive process. Actually, I hired interior designer from yelp and a team created pretty interesting design for my townhouse. But the problems started when I started to get quotes from the contractors. I was not pleased at all - designers never thought about costs -how much it will cost for me to built it. Martins was one of the contractors that I was getting a price from, and he offered me to redesign original design in a way it can be built staying within my budget, and not loosing any bells and whistles from the original design. My original designers never took in a consideration what will happen if the wall gets removed - that to putting extra beams in the floor for support will be so expensive. I don't blame them, they are not contractors, but I learned my lesson well. Working with Martins was exciting - his approach to design is amazing - wouldn't stop until I was completely happy. As he was designing my place, he explained all the details that will be involved during construction process. His construction services were outstanding. People he works with are friendly and take work seriously. Service that I received - could not ask better. In my opinion it is very important that designers have knowledge in construction otherwise your budget can explode. And at the same time, if your contractor is not creative you might get charged extra if something is not exactly as it shows on the plans. I can honestly say that by receiving design and remodeling services from one team is the way to go through your remodeling process, which as we all know scares all of us. He has yet to do the plans my husband has emailed and called him. He always has an excuse, like going out of town. I feel like we were duped. I would like the plans ASAP, or a refund!
