MARIO'S CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION

Somebody, I assume one of their employees, stuck their leaflet thru the edge of my screen door, busting a hole in the screen. That was quite inconsiderate.

The overall experience was positive, they were there on time for both the estimate and the work. Worked throughout the day to complete & cleaned up after themselves. New concrete looks great, very smooth, no issues.

Everything seemed to go very well at first. So many other contractors I called would not even return my call or give me an estimate. This company was very responsive in the beginning and did the work as they said the would. Now that some time has passed, problems with the worked have surfaced. I have tried calling them and they will not come back out. They were much more responsive in the beginning.

Mario and two helpers arrived early in the morning and prepared the area for concrete. By early afternoon, the cement had been poured and Mario also covered an additional area that was not part of the contract at no additional charge. Mario is easy to work with and his work is priced reasonable.

Over all it was Kay. I felt like the original quote I received was not represented correctly. The Drive area looks nice as well as the sidewalk slabs. The paver stone stoop was not finished properly and neither were the walls on either side. I would trust Mario with Concrete but never again with paver stones. He came back out after I complained to look at the stoop to look at it, but did not fix his work and at this point 3 weeks later has not returned my phone calls.

I arranged the work to be completed on a Friday. I explained to Mario I would be working from home but first had to drop my kids off at school and I would be back around 9:30 AM. Mario stated this would not be an issue. By the time I arrived, the two walkways were broken up and removed, 50 percent of the driveway slab was broken up and removed. By 3 PM, Mario's crew was ready to pour the new concrete; by 6:30 PM the work was completed and required drying. The concrete mixer subcontractor was late arriving (Truck was expected by 3:30 PM and it arrived around 4:15 PM.) One small issue I had was in order to complete that 8' x 8' walkway, Mario's team needed to remove some landscaping bricks. When the concrete dried the next day, his worker came out around 7 or 8 AM and removed the framing but did not put the bricks back in place. After a call to Mario on Saturday this was done on Tuesday when I returned home from work. The only reason I'm giving Mario a 'B' on "Quality of their work was due to they left a mess between the walkways and my driveway. They tried to clean it up but the next day I noticed discoloration stains, which I cannot remove as, it's dried now. Overall, I'm very happy with the new walkways and driveway slab. I would hire Mario again, but I would recommend emphasizing cleaning any spilled concrete mix so you do not receive the stains.

He came on time which was huge. His workers were extremely courteous and sweet. They took their time doing the job. They actually cleaned up their debree. I believe their price was very fair.

I called them and the man couldn't have been nicer. I asked if he did concrete stamping and came out to the suburbs. He said yes. He said he gave free estimates. I gave him directions. The next day, my son spray painted the yard to show where we wanted the patio. I call at 11 a.m and got his voice mail. I asked him if we had mis-communicated on our scheduling of the estimate. He did not call back. I called him later around 4 p.m and got his voice mail again. I left him a message saying that he did not come. He has not called me back and it has been a week.

I have nothing but amazing things to say about Mario and his crew! Mario quickly responded to my call for an estimate. Arrived on time for the estimate and clearly explained to us what needed to be done. We called him later that day to let him know we were going with him and he asked if they could come the next day to work! They were at out house by 8am the next morning and worked all day long. By 5pm we had the most beautiful sidewalk! Mario came the next day to remove the spacers and check on the work. They were fast, clean, competent, hardworking and left us with a fantastic product. I will use them in the future if I have to or recommend them to others.

He responded to my initial phone call and request for an estimate very promptly. Came down a bit in price. Arrived the next day as promised. Worked very efficiently and finished the job in one day. Cleaned up nicely as well. Very pleasant attitude and very helpful.

Mario was very professional and responded quickly to my phone calls. When I changed my mind several times, he came out promptly to give me new bids. During the work several other unit owners became quite upset over matters the condo association had already decided. Mario and his team remained calm and stopped working for an hour or so while we worked out the issues. The conflicts resulted in additional work for Mario, and although he did get paid for it, I think what he did was worth more than he was paid. Also, Mario seems to be very concerned with his workers and is able to train them to take on additional responsibilities. For example, he carefully supervised a younger worker using a bobcat (machine) to remove soil to make room for concrete/gravel. I can't say enough good things about Mario! He is professional, low-key, and a smart businessperson who takes pride in his work and hires workers who do a very good job.
