Due to outside events, work was delayed until September, anticipating cooler weather for the better establishment of sod. Email communication was somewhat erratic getting the start date established and with some follow-up questions. Once the work was started, Stefano was very helpful in obtaining the particular style of paver we had chosen. The crew worked efficiently and completed all work during the hottest weather of the year. We had a weekend of very heavy rain (4+") a couple of weeks after the work was completed and, although the yard was getting quite soggy while this very heavy rain continued, the yard was completely drained a few hours after the rain stopped. I have mowed twice and the sod appears to have established quite well.
Description of Work: Replace back yard patio, grade back yard and install a dry well, sod the yard; remove a large spreading yew in front, grade and sod the yard.

In one word - professionally! It went professionally well - Stefano and his crew are actually quite the craftsmen, and they took their work very seriously. From the moment they arrived to the moment they left (and I know, because I watched them through the three days because I work from home) - everything they did was done correctly, thoroughly and carefully. There was no cutting of corners on materials or labor. Additionally, they are exceptionally neat and considerate of any messes they make. For example, I asked them to move 2 hosta bushes from a dirt patch that was going to get paved over and they transplanted them quickly and swept up the additional dirt they kicked up when they put them back in the ground. All of the mud and dirt they kicked up was always swept away or washed off. And finally, my patio looks amazing - we used unilock pavers, and went with light grey with a very slate gray border and everything looks very sharp.
Description of Work: I had to have my old patio pavers removed, the entire area regraded and new pavers installed (approx. 330 sq ft). Also, I had old bushes removed and new ones planted.

After obtaining 3 competitive bids, we decided to go with Maple Leaf and we have no regrets! Their quote was not the cheapest, but they were also not the most expensive. They get very busy and we could not get scheduled until October 2015, but it was worth the wait! We live in Chicago, have a very small backyard which was unleveled and paved with old uneven bricks. The work involved removing old brick, leveling out the back, creating an outdoor patio using clay pavers creating planters, and setting up a drain for rainwater runoff. When they leveled out the back they added a step up to the sidewalk towards the alley. The work they did is beautiful, it's my favorite part of the house, and we have gotten so many compliments on the results. It is almost a year later and it we still love it.

It was originally installed improperly many years ago because they did not put the base in correctly. Maple Leaf pulled all the old bricks out and corrected the issue using the same bricks as before. They put in a new raised bed using eden stone for the retaining wall and also removed all the boxwood plants and put in new ones. Stefano went over the job with me in detail beforehand unlike some of the other companies I spoke with. Everyone showed up ready to work from early morning to late afternoon. They did a stellar job, were always punctual, professional, did quality work, and were fairly priced.

The experience was fantastic and it was great. They came and did the project. It started raining in the middle of the first day and it was an outdoor project. They cleaned up everything up and they came back the next day & finished up. Everything was immaculately cleaned. They were really great to work with. They took everything down from the terrace through the elevator. They were very clean. They put the papers all the way through the house in the elevator, downstairs, hallway and where the truck was loaded. Everything was cleaned up from outside of my apartment to inside and down to where they had parked the truck. They did a great job. The price was good too and very fair. They quoted $1400 for the job, but gave a credit of $300 for the grill. They did a really superb job and I was really happy. They were really organized and efficient. The person who came out to give me a bid was very nice ad personable. He was very easy to work with. I got the bid right away and probably that night. I have worked with many contractors, but they were easy to work with. I will really recommend them. The job that did was demolishing job, but they were hardscapers. They seemed very professional. They wanted to please me and it was important for them. My husband and I were happy with the service and the company. I was glad that I joined Angie's List and was very helpful.

We could not be any happier than we are with our experience with Maple Leaf Landscaping. From the start to finish, Stefano is just a joy to work with. He was always on time for our appointment for the estimate and was more than fair in his pricing. I think his pricing is the best around for the high-end quality work that we received. I am the first to admit that I am very particular in the way I like things done. Stefano was always cool with my changes and he went above and beyond with some of the little things that he help me fix along the way that was not a part of our contract and he did not charge for them. Basically, he is a professional and did not nickel and dime me for every little things that you sometime see in other contractors. He wants to make the customer happy and it show in his work. He was on site every day with his crew and most of the time doing the work with them. This shows that he cares. We had almost a 1000 square foot of brussel blocks pavers installed and Stefano and his crew was able to save some of my old pavers which save me a bunch of money. We also had most of yard resod and replanted. It looks great! I could go on but I think you get the point. Great quality, great price, great guy and we will always use him from now on for any kind of paving or landscaping. I have already recommend him to several of my friends and family.

I own Post Concrete Repair - a waterproofing and structural repair company- and was planning on doing the installation myself but, well, life and work got in the way. I had promised my wife that we would have the yard ready for a party we had planned for a while and was running out of time. The party was on Saturday and on Thursday I realized I might not make it. Me and my guys tore down the existing deck (it was an elevated wood deck) on Wednesday but as we do Concrete and not pavers - I decided to look for someone who is better and faster at it than me. The rest of the yard is already pavers, which is why we didn't pour concrete. I found Stephano and Maple Leaf on Angie's list. I read the reviews and, like myself, I read that Stephano owns the company and actually does the work himself, which I really like. I called him on Thursday night and he came by at 11am Friday. I showed him the work I needed done and then dropped the bomb that I needed it done by 2pm the next day. It was difficult, but he rescheduled some things, brought the crew over at 7:15 the next morning, and got to work. Everything was done very well - excavated, screenings base set, mason sand base set, compacted, found a good place to cut off-size pavers where it wouldn't leave a mess, the whole crew aware of their surroundings, neat and tidy. AND as they were excavating the existing fill he saw that the cap on the cistern was deteriorated and the grades would not match - so even in the middle of all this, with these time constraints- went and got a new cap and reset the whole thing (which he didn't charge extra for...). They were done by 1pm and it was beautiful. They cleaned up after themselves and even offered to take some of the packaging from the new patio furniture that was left over. I have been doing this type of work since I was 7 years old (its a family business - I work with my dad and brother) and I can honestly say that it was exactly the same way I would do it for a customer and, ironically, better than I would have done for myself because I waited too long to get started. I HIGHLY recommend Stephano and Maple Leaf. (By the way, I have access to similar vendors and know exactly how much labor and material cost and he was extremely fair with pricing). Anyway if you need something I would definitely give him a call.
Description of Work: Removal of approximately 3 yards of gravel and dirt. Installation of approx 500 sq ft of brick pavers with screenings and mason sand base. Resetting of cistern (sewer) cap and yard drain.

Stephano from Maple Leaf Landscaping was extremely professional and very knowledgable. He was great EVERY step of the way. Started with the estimate: Stephano came on time and was very knowledgable and willing to share his ideas and suggestions. He provided us a lot of recommendations that we took. Pricing: We negotiated a good price, one that I was very happy with and one that I thought was very fair especially with the amount of work he was doing. Replanning: Prior to starting the work, I changed my mind about a few things. Stephano came in and re-quoted and also provided more suggestions. He also planned the backyard and gave us a good explanation on what he was going to do.He was able to get me the best price for the extra requests that I had - I was happy with his honesty and rework. He didn't try to rip me off on pricing and was very good at providing detail on his bids. Start of work: Stephano was really good with telling us when he would start (was honest about when he can start and how long it would take). Which I appreciate because it was much easier for me to plan my days. During work - his staff was very good and professional. Always started on time and cleaned up properly. End of work: I'm very happy with the service and the outcome of the service and project. He was always very responsive, and called me back within a few hours. Great at coming on time and he started and ended as he said he would. THANK YOU MAPLE LEAF LANDSCAPING

Stefano at Maple Leaf was referred to us by an Angies List landscaper who did not install hardscape. We had obtained 3 previous estimates, all of which we thought were too expensive. Maple Leaf's estimate was considerably lower and very competitive. Therefore, we hired Stefano who is very knowledgeable, friendly and professional. He put us on his calendar and showed up when he said he would. The hardscaping job turned out to be outstanding. Stefano did a great job at designing and installing the block. I should point out that unlike many landscaping companies, Stefano (the company owner) works on site and supervises his employees. The result is high quality work. Additionally, Stefano was very flexible and worked with us to make minor changes as we went along without adding up charges. I would recommend Maple Leaf landscaping without reservation.
