I contacted them for an estimate to replace my roof. The estimator who called me back started out the call in a manner which I will politely call unprofessionally casual. He continued joking and carrying on in such a manner that he seemed 'off'. As conversation progressed, he became increasingly condescending in his tone, giving a lecture about how he would deal with a chimney issue, and ended in a very combative tone stating, "but we can come out and give you an estimate if you want." I declined and quickly ended the call. If this is how they act on a first phone call, I don't want this person near my house, nor responsible for replacing my roof.

Our sales manager contacted the customer directly and spoke candidly with them about the phone call they describe in their review. While we listened and tried to understand the situation Lindholm decided there must be a mistake because none of our project managers would act inappropriately with a potential customer. Needless to say, we offered to come out to the property free of charge as soon as possible to provide an estimate, but the homeowner declined.

The crews; one for roofing the other for gutters, siding, sofitt and fascia were very knowledgeable, professional, accomodating and clean. They accepted suggestions on minor things and were willing to discuss my suggestions. We had many "storm chasers" in the area after the hail storm and many could not speak English. Not so with Lindholm. We could communicate. One of the main reasons I chose Lindholm is that they did the entire job, not one company doing the roofing, somebody else doing the gutters, etc. After the work was performed, we pointed out a few minor flaws to the salesman and the next day they were corrected to my satisfaction. PLUS, Lindholm offered a $500.00 discount on your website; which they gave me. Hey, being retired that wasn't chump change. I admit Lindholm was not the lowest bidder on my project, I had six, but for a number of reasons I went with them and am not sorry I did. Subsequently, I have since recommended Lindolhm to a friend in Oak Forest who had work done by them and was pleasantly satisfied, as I was. Dennis Mitzner 708-363-5119 dennykochan5817@wowway.com

Poor. The project manager, Matt Cox would never return an email or a phone call to tell me why I needed an entire new roof and chimney. I called the office after getting no response from Matt, and the woman said she would have someone call me back right away or she would call me back personally, and I never heard from anyone. I would never spend this kind of money with any company without having a conversation with a person.

They actually did a real great job. They responded right away to my request. The guy came out maybe like a day or two to inspect my roof, talk to me about some kind of option they have with the roofing, and then, he mailed out a quote probably within a couple of business days. I looked through it and basically told them to get it going. They are very good. I have no problems with them at all. I think their price is pretty competitive with everybody else. They are all within the ball park.

I first called Lindholm on Monday, October 7 at their Milwaukee office. The woman who answered the phone said that I would get a call from them to schedule an estimate/service either Thursday or Friday. Thursday and Friday came and went and no call. On Friday night or Saturday I went to their website and set up an estimate request. Joe called in response to that request on Monday, October 14 around 7 p.m. I missed the call, and when I tried to call his number, his mail box was full. He did call again on Tuesday and we were able to connect. He said he would "be in the area" on Thursday and would be able to come by around midday. After that I got a call again from Joe but he was looking for another person and had dialed my number. This happened twice, once on Tuesday and once on Wednesday. I figured that he's got so many calls he can't keep them straight. Good to be that busy so no problem! Anyhow, Thursday midday came and went and no Lindholm roofing, so at 4 p.m. on Thursday I called Joe's number and asked if he were still coming. He said that he was on the south side and he could be here but it would be very late. I said that would be okay. No apology or anything like that, but I was still okay with him coming later, as I know it is late in the season. He never showed up, and never called to say he wasn't showing up. I don't know if Lindholm would do good work and I probably will never know, because I don't think I'd call them again. I understand being too busy, but usually people will tell you they can or can't do something. It can be as simple as saying, "We're really swamped right now, but we'll take your information and see if we can get to you." Saying you'll do something and then not doing it without even an apology or explanation is rude, and doing it more than once tells me that my business isn't valued. I guess I finally got the message. I'll get someone else.
Description of Work: We called to get a new gutter on the front of our home, and to have our downspouts removed from the ground, and to have our side gutter angled to the front and drained into the front downspout out into the yard. We also wanted our roof inspected and for someone to see what condition the brick work on our chimney was in. We're considering getting a new roof probably in the spring.

Tim Lindholm called us last Friday to follow up - he accusing us for not speaking with Lindholm roofing directly. He offered us 5000 to help with the cost of roof repair (20000), but at least will help and was not expected... It's been a h*** of a year - eventually we are hoping to get out house back.
Description of Work: We had Lindholm roofing replace 2 flat roofs (they have been servicing our house for 20+ years as they knew the previous owner). Our roofs started leaking in December - 6 months later. Lindholm refused to honor the warranty. We had hired an independent inspector, and found out the roofs were done against the code. Tim Lindholm came to do "hose test" in the summer, and the roof leaked. Despite that, he still refused to replace/repair the roof. Our insurance had an independent structural engineer hired to assess the damages, and it was deemed "catastrophic loss". Tim advised me to have it fixed and the job is completed. I had send him a copy of my contract and bill.

Jack met with the customer June 2, 27, July 3rd and Sept 21. The roofing work was completed on October 20. We apologized for the delay. Our work backlog was very slow. We wanted to make sure we performed the work correctly with our best foreman and this was our lead time to work with. Jack had good communication, the customer decided to go with another company to get the gutters done.
The weather delayed the start of the job but once they started they finished in one day. A few days later the gutters were installed. They cleaned up the job site and everything was hauled away. I already have contracted them to replace a smaller addition roof.

The work went smoothly. The workers arrived at the correct time and worked until the main house section of the roof was completed. The debris from this section was removed, and although ladders were left for the next day?s work, the house and yard were neat. Work was completed on the garage roof the next day. All trash was removed. The workers even crawled through my overgrown hedge to remove any shingles that fell there from the tear off. They cleaned the drive and used a magnetic rake to find any loose nails. I?m happy to say that my car hasn?t found any nails since they left. I was happily surprised by how they were able to improve the bathroom venting. It was originally installed to vent into the crawlspace attic, but current code requires venting to the outside. The Lindholm foreman was able to do this. I dreaded the idea of having to empty a closet so the trapdoor to the attic could be reached, but the foreman said that he?d just remove a section of sheathing to enter the attic from above. I thought that was pretty neat! The roof was replaced after wind damage that was covered by my homeowner?s policy. The insurance claim process was unbelievably effortless on my part, and I will review the insurance company at another time. I only want to quote the adjuster who asked what my final costs were. When I told him the invoice total, his comment was ?Wow, you got a great price.? I will definitely recommend Lindholm Roofing, Inc.

This winter/spring, my condo association did an extensive search for a roofing company to replace our roof. Three roofing companies submitted bids, and we selected Lindholm due to a combination of factors: (1) professionalism and helpfulness during bid process, including willingness to answer many questions; (2) product (Lindholm uses a material called DuroLast for flat roofs); (3) price; and (4) warranty. The project was many months in the making - first, we waited for the winter to be over, and then we waited for the summer thunderstorms to subside. Throughout the wait, our Lindholm rep (Chris) was responsive and helpful. Our project was complicated by the fact that we hired two additional companies to work with Lindholm during the roof replacement on related projects (mold remediation and new insulation). Chris at Lindholm helped us identify companies to handle those aspects of the project, and he made sure that the project was planned and scheduled properly so that the three companies would all be available to work together during one week. This is easier said than done, and we appreciated Chris' attention to detail and help with getting organized. We also liked how Chris remained involved and accountable during the entire process. So often the sales representatives of companies disappear once the contract is signed. This did not happen with Chris, and he continued to provide assistance each step of the process. Once the project started, it took 5 days to complete. The installation generally went well, and we were happy with the result. We did encounter some minor issues with clean-up of the job site; however, the issues were remedied appropriately once I communicated them to Lindholm. Overall, this was a positive experience, and I would recommend Lindholm to friends and family.

Ryan Lindholm responded quickly to my request for estimate. He spent time explaining options and provided an email estimate within a few days. It took 2 weeks to schedule the work. The workmen were on time. We reviewed the work and I approved the color for the downspouts. This work was done quickly and cleanly. The gutter cleaning was done using a blower with the debris scattered about the yard. The downspouts functioned perfectly in the past weekend storm. The price charged was exactly what was estimated.
Lindholm was one of 6 quotes we had to replace the roof on our home. They had done work 23 years before on the house and we had been please then but we still compared them to others. We used Angie's List reviews to help us make up our minds to use them as well as the fact we'd used them before and knew a few others that had used them over the years. We called them first in November 2012 when we noticed a valley section in the roof seemed particularly worn and we worried about the coming winter. Mike Huston came out and gave and did a thorough check and said they could do work then (until the snow flew) and through our detached garage roof was pretty bad the rest of the roof could last until spring if we wanted to delay the work. We spent much time discussing the options for the warn valley section. A 40 year old second floor gutter downspout hit this area and he said when they replace the gutter (a necessity) they could move the downspout to one side and off the roofing all together which would alleviate the wear on this section of the roof. He gave us a very fair quote and offered us choices of the newer more expensive architectural shingles or the standard 3 tab shingle we currently had. He also told us the prices would hold until spring 2014 unless material prices increased. Family events caused us to wait with the work until 2014 and even then it wasn't' until late June we were able to call them back We fully expected a new estimate with a higher cost. To our surprise Mike honored the original quote! They were backlogged with work and they couldn't take us until mid August but that was fine with us. The supplies were delivered 2 days before they came to work and gentleman was very quick and efficient. On Saturday morning 8/17/13 bright and early the crew showed up to work. I wish I could remember the names of the crew because they were just great. They were fast and efficient and seemed to work really well together. We thought they may have to complete the work on Monday but they had the old roof ripped off and the new one on both the house and the garage by 2:30 pm. They were very neat and hard working -- they had to carry all the old material to one side of the roof to dump it in their dumpster and from the far back of the property where the garage is to the front where the dumpster was since it wouldn't fit without hitting the neighbor's fence. Kudos to all that crew! Our only complaint was that the gutter work was not done on Saturday and no word as to why. I spoke with the crew leader and he said they only remove the old gutters (which they did) but there was a special crew that put the new gutters up and he didn't know when they were suppose to come. As it was Saturday afternoon we weren't able to call until Monday to find out about the gutters. They didn't come until Tuesday 8/20. The two men that did the gutter work did a good job too and they did some extension work on a back gutter that matches so well you'd think it was always there. On a whole we are extremely pleased. The final cost was exactly as quoted and we can only hope for another 23 years of sound roofing.

Unfortunately they sent the shingles team and not the flat roof team. The appropriate team arrived early Saturday morning and completed the job in one day. We appreciated excellent communication with Lindholm Roofing rep Mike Huston. He would pick up his phone, answer emails, and stop by our house with minimal delay. He'd sold us some vent replacements a few years ago and that went smoothly. We called him again in February when we had some leakage during a blizzard when many homes were similarly beset. He stopped by the same day at 8 PM, and recommended that we just observe the situation, since the leaking had almost stopped. After the thaw, we realized our roof was 24 years old and probably should be evaluated for replacement. He explained to us that we could tide it over with repairs for a few hundred $$, but would probably need to replace it soon in a year or two. We had several questions about his proposal and concerns about the promised warranty, which he was willing to discuss. Owing to an office error, there was a late misunderstanding about the price of the work, but Mike was very reasonable about adjusting the proposal to meet our concerns. The crew of workmen arrived early, worked very hard, and protected us from any leakage with tarps even though there was a heavy rainstorm overnight as they were midway through. They were as neat as possible with a roof tearoff and replacement; made less noise than we had anticipated; cleaned up the job site very thoroughly; and were courteous and pleasant to deal with. Their work took two days. After we inspected what they had done, we noticed a few deviations from the proposal. We notified Mike, who came over, inspected it himself, and added a few "to do" items for the crew. They returned two days later and finished up in a few hours. The roof looks very nice, and we hope that the years demonstrate that it functions as good as it looks.

I've used Linholm in the past and was pretty happy with the service, but that changed with the latest project. In summary, Lindholm rerouted a downspout horizontally along the top of a brick exterior wall last fall which caused leaking behind the brick during a winter thaw that led to significant water in my finished basement. I was very disappointed in both the lack and quality of communication once I reported the issue (which was the day the leak occurred) in January'14 and requested it be fixed. I had to follow up many times with Dennis to get a clear understanding of what the solution options were, the cost of each solution, and when it would be completed. It took three months from when I first called to when it was fixed a few weeks ago. During that time I had to place plastic sheeting between the wall and the downspout to prevent further leaking until it was fixed and was not able to replace the carpet in the basement. What really bothered me is that I felt that Lindholm's installation caused the issue, and even though their contracts claim the work it guaranteed for two years, I had to pay another $660 to have them return to fix it.

I used Lindholm in 2001 to re roof my entire roof and all went well. Late March 2013 I noticed some leaking. I knew the labor warranty had expired, but called Lindholm because I was satisfied with their previous work. The salesman couldn't pin point the leak, but said the chimney was in need of repair and that could be the culprit. I agreed to the work and decided to have new gutters installed at the same time. After this repair was finished the roof still leaked in the same area. I called them back and I suggested that maybe the entire area needed to replaced. I realized this would be at my expense. The salesman called in another man who was their trouble shooter. He suggested I cement some of the loose tabs and left me with some adhesive. I used the adhesive and the roof still leaked. At this point I said just replace the roof. I was pleasantly surprised that I was given a 30% discount on the tear off/ re roof since they had done the original. I don't know if the roof leaks at this point because the work was done in December 2013. I have copied the letter I sent to Lindholm (12/26/3013) below that will explain my low opinion of them. To date (03/09/2013) this letter has not been replied to. One last issue is one of the gutter end caps leak and a couple of the downspouts were not screwed in. Also there were some other questionable issues with the gutters that are/will be addressed and repaired by me. Lindolm Roofing, Inc. 3588 N. Milwaukee Avenue Chicago, Illinois 60641 Attn: Ryan Lindholm Mr. Lindholm I am writing this note to inform you of my displeasure of the work that was performed on my roof. Your contractor Richard needs to work on his communication skills. Even though he can speak English he has trouble getting his point across as well as understanding mine. He arrived on 12/17/2013 to replace the roof, but it started to snow and he decided to wait until the next day (12/18/2013). While he was deciding on whether or not to work, I mention to him I had disconnected the power vent from the electric to make it easier to remove the vent and reinstall. At that time he asked me if I wanted the mushroom vents replaced. I said if they weren?t necessary I didn?t? care. Richard and his crew showed up to work the next day. When I greeted him I said I changed my mind about the mushroom vents and asked to have the mushroom vents installed per contract. He said he would. I came out a couple of hours later to find the power vent on the ground destroyed. He said to me that I told him ?the vent was disconnected and I no longer wanted it?. I told him I had just replaced the motor in the vent (at the recommendation Chuck Nyko) and had no intention of having it removed. I knew that because of the language barrier arguing would get me nowhere, but he was trying to blame me for this. To make a long story short I told him to purchase a new power vent at my expense and install it. I wouldn?t have mentioned this incident at all if Richard hadn?t nickel and dimed me with the small amount of lumber he installed (he knew that the first 32 feet were included). He said he would take care of the lumber. I thought I was being fair. I have already paid the bill in full, but I felt that this needed to be brought to your attention. If you are going to use subcontractors that speak English as a second language you need to have someone on that crew who can communicate clearly. Thank you Marc Fineberg UPDATE!!! Lindholm replied to my letter today (3/24/2014) We discussed the communication issue and he agreed it was a problem and said it would be addressed. Also we would be reimbursed for the power vent. I have updated my ratings and have considered this closed to my satisfaction.

I recently bought a house with a 6 year old house that Lindholm had put on. In the last 6 months since moving in I have had 3 roof leaks. One was damage from a painter on the roof but the other two are installation sloppiness (flashing around a chimney and vent). I have had experience with this company in the past with buildings that I have managed and in their defense they are one of the few companies around willing to put on a REALLY cheap roof. You get what you pay for, but for some people that is what they want. They were willing to put on a subpar roof for a really cheap price. Apparently they have figured out how to put on a 5 year roof almost to the day when other companies charge 20 percent more and put on a 30 year roof. When I called them about the problems they quoted me several hundred dollars more than the other companies to repair the problems. Cheap roof then expensive repairs. Stay away!
