. Lee and his crew stripped and refinished the crown moulding in our 1912 home. It was original oak that had been painted over sometime in the past. They removed two coats of paint, sanded and refinished the trim to match the rest of the woodwork. It took them about 4 days to complete. The crew was very professional and cleaned up well every night when they left. They were also diligent in locking up and setting our alarm in the evenings. The only negative was that, after the estimate appointment, it took a couple weeks for Lee to get back to us with the estimate. Overall, very professional and very reasonable work. We will be calling them back to stain-match our windows this spring.

Went great. The guys who did the stripping were hard workers despite temperatures in the high 90's. (Couldn't run the AC with the windows out) They masked the surrounding walls very carefully. There were a few small marks where the stain leaked through the tape and foil, but we were planning to repaint our living room, so it wasn't a big deal. Lee and Terry were very thoughtful and helpful with choosing the new stain. The window finish is beautiful and seems to be long-lasting. So far they've survived a few rainstorms and children. I feel like they've added a lot of value to our house. The windows no longer look dilapidated. They look as perfect as they must have when our house was first built. We will definitely hire them again when we go ahead and deal with the rest of the decorative woodwork in our living and dining rooms.
Description of Work: Lee and Terry were hired to refinish 5 windows in our 100-year-old house. We had installed Anderson replacement windows (oak) and left the original trim, on which the shellac had darkened and cracked. Lee and Terry's job was to strip and refinish the trim, and finish the bare oak replacement windows to match.

I contacted Lee Redmond to refinish the exterior of our front door as the description of the way they do this work on their website was consistent with what I have read is the correct technique. I left 2 messages (10 days apart) for them to call back about providing an estimate and never heard back from them. I was disappointed as it sounds from other reviewers on Angie's List that the quality of work is good once they actually complete it. I found this to be very unprofessional and would never use them now.
Description of Work: No services were actually performed as this company never responded.

Response from LEE REDMOND RESTORATIONS
We were unable to contact the member at first since our voice message machine di not capture her complete number. When she did call us the second time, we were able to contact her and let her know the situation. She seemed pleased and told us exactly she wanted done and at the time did not say NOT to come out to look nor how unhappy she was nor that she did not want to use our service. We have since been out there and a proposal is on its way to her.

This was a great experience. Lee and his crew are extremely skilled and knowledgeable and their work is of the highest quality. Before they got to work on it, our woodwork was covered with layers and layers of paint. We wanted the paint removed so that the original wood could be seen. Lee and his crew not only got rid of all the paint, they stained and varnished all the wood in such a way that it all matched. This was difficult because the wood in the bedrooms was of several different colors (it had apparently never been intended to be visible), but you would never know it now. We were especially stunned at the beauty of the oak woodwork and doors in the living and dining room that emerged from under the paint! They also did a great job of protecting the walls around the woodwork and of cleaning up the site after they were done.
Description of Work: Stripped, stained, and refinished the woodwork in the living room, dining room and two bedrooms of a 1913 Prairie-style bungalow. Stripped 8 doors along with their hinges and hardware as well as 5 heating register grates.

Unprofessional!
Description of Work: I called Mr. Redmond and told him that I had an exterior door I wanted to have refinished. He said he would probably be out to look at the door over the weekend. He did not come, nor did he call. I waited a few days to see if he would call. He did not. I sent him an email--still no response. I was really curious as to why he never responded, so called his office the week of September 15th and left a message on his voice explaining that I had called before and he never called back.

The room looks fabulous. His team did a really great job. My only issue is the difficulty in getting the initial estimate and then getting the work scheduled. In today's world, reliable email and use of Word or Word compatible tools are a must. They emailed the estimate and we could not open it - even though we used three 3 different computers. It took almost four 4 weeks to get the work scheduled, etc. I think our questions could have been answered and work scheduled in a much shorter timeframe. At the end of the job, Lee came out to personally inspect the work and handle all of the final touches. He cares about his craftsmanship and reputation.
Description of Work: Hired Lee to strip paint from woodwork around 3 windows, baseboards and 3 corner guards in one room.

I could not have been more pleased with my experience with this company. They were an absolute delight. This company performs an old-fashioned skilled craft with old-fashioned courtesy, work ethic and customer service. The workmen were polite and friendly, very neat and clean, and took the initiative to offer suggestions to improve the quality of the job. Lee, the owner, communicated very effectively. He checked in with me every morning to answer questions and resolve issues as they came up. The work came in exactly on estimate and exactly as scheduled. The woodwork in my house is 100 years old and has suffered various mars associated with its age. Lee's company used creativity and skill in making it look the best it could. I was especially pleased with their work on the dining room windows which had suffered severe water damage, probably due to window air conditioners. I was also extremely pleased with their work on the original front door, which had some severe damage from lock removal. Lee was extremely knowledgeable about the different kinds of wood they were staining and the effect of the type of wood on the choice of stain color. The result was, I am convinced, absolutely the best my woodwork can look.
Description of Work: Lee Redmond hand-stripped all of the baseboards, doorways, 6 window frames and casings in the first floor of my house, the ceiling moldings in the entryway and living room, all of the staircase and both sides of the front door and door to the basement. They then repaired nail holes, water damage, etc., and stained and finished the wood. It was a two-week job.

Lee and Terry arrived on time to give me an estimate. They were very professional and knowledgeable. Lee happily answered all my questions during the meeting. They also answered the detailed questions I sent them through email after I received an estimate. I received an estimate promptly, within a day or two. I did not end up choosing this company because I received a lower estimate (by a few thousand dollars) from a top-rated Angie's List company. Initially, there was also a scheduling conflict -- but they did offer to re-arrange their schedule to accommodate me. I might consider this company for future projects.
Description of Work: Estimate for wood stripping of 3 rooms and a hallway in my home.

It is hard to find someone that does this kind of work anymore. We are doing one room or area a year until our whole house is done. This is a tedious process and they do it well. I have been happy every year with their service.
Description of Work: They stripped paint off and refinished all the baseboards in the entry way, an interior 1 panel door and an external 7 panel door with their frames. It took them about 3 days or so to complete.

Great. Responsive, warm, informative and professional.
Description of Work: My 1929 front door (which had been resurfaced 10 years ago) was cracking and splitting. They took the door off, sanded it smooth, refinished and gave it three coats of something to protect it from the weather.
