DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, WORK WITH EITHER LASZLO SIMOVIC ARCHITECTS, OLIVE TREE DEVELOPMENT, OR THE LOCHERT COMPANY. We recently bought a newly built home in the Logan Square neighborhood. Most new homes will have some quarks or things that need to be worked out after the first inspection; totally understandable. However, after finding a very troubling leak in our new basement due to VERY cheap and unprofessional construction, Olive Tree Development, the Lochert Company, and Laszlo Simovic have been completely unprofessional and unresponsive. In addition to the shoddy build quality that led to the leak, they also did not put dryer vents in the home. Instead of simply installing the dryer vents (which most developers would likely do, as this is extremely uncommon and probably embarrassing), Olive Tree, the Lochert Company, and Lazlo have refused to do any work until we sign off on an extremely cheap and patchwork effort to throw some caulk on the leak situation. Needless to say, this is again very unprofessional and make us EXTREMELY uncomfortable. We are now being forced to pursue legal action to have some very reasonable repairs made on a brand new home. EVEN IF THE HOME YOU ARE CONSIDERING FROM ANY OF THESE PARTIES IS A BEAUTIFUL "DREAM" HOME, PLEASE do not purchase from them. There are plenty of high quality, professional, experienced builders/developers in the Chicago area; please do your due diligence and don't make the same mistake we did.
