I am the condo board president for a 19-unit association. Our sheet metal cornice had been patched over time and needed additional repairs. I met with their sales rep who spent nearly an hour taking detailed measurements. Then I waited for weeks for an estimate. I called numerous times and no reply back. I finally reached the president, Tom Cleary. He came out and met with me and after several more weeks prepared an estimate for approx. $28,000 that our board approved. We sent in a $5000 deposit. Because we had additional work to do on our parapet wall before the cornice could be re-clad, we had a delay of approx. 6-9 months. During that time, I needed to have a few things clarified in our contract. Tom was on vacation, then his assistant was on vacation, all the while assuring me that he just needed time "to go over a few of the details" but that things (prices) shouldn't change much. Months passed with little or no communication. When I finally did reach him on his cell, he explained that the original salesperson must have "made a mistake" and that the cost of the job would be closer to $50,000 rather than $28,000. Excuse me, but he's the president of the company. He visited the job site. It's HIS responsibility to correctly estimate a job. Needless to say, I was unwilling to go back to the board and request DOUBLE the funds for the job. Although I briefly considered litigation, who wants to force a company to work for 1/2 what they think the job is worth? We'd end up getting a bad product. So, I asked for our deposit back (which he promptly returned) and we parted ways. I have no doubt that Jones & Cleary does excellent work for their LARGE customers. However, the service and communication we received as a small association was horrendous.

I called this company because they were the closest roofer to a commercial property I own needing a new roof. The sales representative failed to make the scheduled appointment, however, he did arrive sometime after I waited 1.5 hours and left to make a dinner appointment. I also received a voicemail in my office from the sales representative cancelling the appointment. He inspected my roof and I received a timely quote triple the price of four other quotes I subsequently gathered. The four competitive quotes I received ranged from $23,000 to $25,000 for the same job (different warranties). The shocking quote from Jones & Cleary was approximately $70,000. This company is not competitive if it needs $55,000 more than the competition to do the same job.

I called them on 5-26-09, 6-1-09 and 6-15-09 and left voice messages each time. They called me back about 4 months later. I had already had the work done by another WONDERFUL company.

Our house is considered a historic landmark and we had to stay with the original architecture of the house. They took these pieces and copied them in copper and put them back on. We have gotten so many compliments on it. It looks great.
Description of Work: They replaced our entire roof, flashing, vents and replicated the ornate metal work in copper that was on our house.
