John Baethke & Son Plumbing

Called these guys around 5:00 PM on a Friday night. Naturally everyone had gone home but the customer service person taking the call said one of them was on call and would get back to me shortly. That happened within the hour. Very calm and professional, had me talk through the details of the equipment and what I had tried so far. I had already tried twice to reignite the pilot light, following the directions on the hot water heater. He suggested I try it one more time so I did with him talking me through it and it worked! Turns out I had probably not held the pilot lighting button down long enough. He saved himself a trip and me some money. I'll definitely call these guys again when I have a real problem. We are both glad he didn't have to jump in his truck and come out on a Friday night.

I had called several plumbers first thing in the morning and none of them were able to schedule a time with me right away... except for appointment times a week out. I called John Baethke & Son Plumbing Inc. and they assured me that someone could be out between 11-4. I got a call at 11:30 saying someone would be at my place in 45 mins., 15 minutes later Brad showed up! Brad was friendly and knowledgable. As far as I can tell, job well done! Steve was very friendly and professional. He walked me through his thought process and explained to me what could have happened and why. He also physically showed me what to look for in the future and explained the next steps. I would definitely recommend him and Baethke & Sons to friends/family.

In, fixed, and out without a trace of evidence of such work being done, all in a bit less than an hour and a half. I have used Baethke many times over the years, and would not go elsewhere. They may be a notch higher than some competitors price wise, and I 'aint got money, trust me, but the work is worth it. I pay for a little service contract yearly, which has more that paid for itself with work done. These are good guys, friendly, professional, and a good socially responsible company. I like them a lot. You will too.

Edgar and Brian arrived exactly on time, assessed the situation and got to work. The Baethke team did a great job as always. We have owned a couple of buildings over the last 19 years, and we have used them for all of our plumbing needs with great results every time. We would be thrilled if we could find other trades people who were as prompt, efficient and pleasant as John Baethke. We are delighted to be able to rely on them.

We had a challenging situation in our condo and John couldn't have been more user-friendly with regard to providing a detailed estimate in a timely manner communicating all the options that were available in addition to doing fantastic job with a quick turnaround. After finding this plumbing company on Angie's List, I called for an appointment to fix a leaky toilet. The phone was answered by an amazingly cheerful person who just brought a smile to my face. A suitable appointment was made and they gave me the usual window of time in which the plumber would arrive to perform the job. Not only was he on time, he was an hour early. They called me to let me know that my plumber had finished his previous job sooner than expected and would it be alright if he came earlier than planned. Wow! I couldn't believe my luck. My plumber arrived and he could not have been more pleasant. After assessing the problem, he told me what needed to be done and how much it would cost to fix it. I agreed and the job was completed quickly and efficiently. I am very pleased with my first experience with John Baethke and Son Plumbing, and I will definitely use them again. They are definitely some of the most pleasant people I have dealt with in the plumbing field. Thank you.

Steven was on time, he discovered the problem well. He was nice & courteous. He ordered the part and came back 2 days later to fix it.

One person was pleasant and took my info, then I got transferred to someone else who was rude on the phone. I had to repeat my info and clearly she had some notes from the first persons conversation, but kept having me repeat my info. It was as if she was hard of hearing and cranky. I will not use them.

It turned out very well with John Baethke & Son Plumbing. They were informative and helpful. They're a little expensive, there are others who are cheaper but the seem the most knowledgeable that's why we went with them.

He was on time and very professional. He identified the source of the leak quickly and worked independently to fix it. While there he also replaced my sump pump and explained alternative solutions with price variability.

This provider could not determine if it could be repaired, only that there was a possibility that a repair "might" stop the leak. That estimate came to about $279. Then the shock came in: to replace the unit, would be about $2700 including labor. The service man would not break down the estimate into materials vs. labor, and stated that it was a "flat rate". So when I asked why it was so high and what brand of water heater would be used to replace, he indicated that it would be a premium brand. When I said that we don't need a premium brand and that we needed to keep the cost down, he indicated that the price would not be lowered if a different unit was used. All we wanted was the same manufacturer (or lesser), which research on the internet shows to be only about $1200. The service technician was not even willing to provide the exact model of water heater that was used for the estimate. I would not use this provider because they do not make it possible to comparison shop, and were not willing to give me what I asked for. Their pricing is absurd and you cannot evaluate their estimate against others because they will not provide details. This seems to be a very shady business practice.

Very courteous with follow up (phone calls to confirm appointment). Notified arrival 45 minutes. Punctual, and arrived on short notice.
