Proposal was fair and a good price of three that we solicited. Contractor was hesitant to sign a standard agreement prepared by our building's attorney, however. After a few weeks of talking, we were able to negotiate terms and execute a contract. Contractor came out in a timely manner and executed the project in one day. The heater supplier damaged the product's casing during delivery, which delayed the installation by about three hours as we waited for a new unit. Contractor offered us the damaged heater at a reduced rate but did not ask any questions when we said we preferred an undamaged unit at full cost. Rest of the installation went well without any hiccups. The contractor stayed well after 8:00 PM to finish the job that day, which was slated for a 5:00 P.M. contract delivery. So far, our unit works great!
Description of Work: Technician, Stephen and an apprentice installed a 275,000 btu, 100-gal hot water heater in our multi-family residential building in Andersonville.

This was the first time in five years that I needed the services of a plumber. I called that morning (a Saturday) to see if Baethke offered emergency services, and the woman who answered the phone confirmed that they did (she was very polite and helpful). She gave me a window of between 4 PM - 8 PM for the work to be done that day. The plumber, Bob, showed up around 3:30 PM, on-site (which was absolutely fine by me!). He was very polite and helpful. He took a quick visual inspection and was able to at least make a few guesses as to the cause of the problem. I asked him to replace my faucet since he was already at my place, and he did so very quickly. Baethke's charges are based upon the job. I'm not sure if this price was good or not, but considering that it was a Saturday and short notice, I am assuming this was a reasonable cost. I was very pleased with the service and would call Baethke again.
Description of Work: I requested the services of a plumber (on a very short notice) to look for signs of leaking in my shower, since my neighbor in the unit below me found some "bubbles" on the ceiling of her bathroom. Since the plumber was on-site, I also requested that he replace my bathtub faucet, since my diverter was not working properly.

He was on-time, very friendly, a bit chatty. I asked for an estimate and he said they had a set cost per job. He gave me a rate contract for me to sign before he began the work, which included other plumbing work I asked about. I selected the original problem only, he did a good assessment, performed the work and then began marketing other promotions and options. He gave me printed materials, promotional fliers. He took as much time to chat, promote the company, try to get me to sign a yearly contract, etc. as it took to clean the drain. He was at my house for about 45 minutes - but would have been done in about 20.
Description of Work: The plumber arrived and did a survey of drain problem, presented an estimate that included other services discussed. I agreed to the original task, unclogging the bathroom drain, which he did successfully.

It is our responsibility as a professional service provider to make sure that we explain all of our service benefits and options to our customers. We would not be doing the best job possible if we didn't explain all options to our customers to help them make the best decision for them. Most of our clients appreciate this fact.

I thought he did a professional job. He was late, but did call to let me know. I thought his price was fairly expensive for the amount of work that he did. I needed a shower handle and he was going to charge me $125.00 for one in his truck, but I went and bought one myself for $15.00.

The technician arrived 6/29/07, we (homeowner & General Contractor) explained the scope of the project we wanted estimated. We discussed options and determined a solution that would be the basis of the estimate. He charged me a destination charge of $69.50 (cash receipt). He said I would receive my estimate by Tuesday 7/3/07. I called twice asking to speak to Bob the estimator and was told he was out of the office. I explained that I had not yet received the estimate and left a message for Bob twice. I have never heard back from them.

They did quality work and the gentleman was very professional and personable. However, he seemed to want to keep adding thing on to the job and the pricing was extremely high. I felt it was important to do the preventative maintenance so I went along with his suggestions, but I should have received quotes from other companies, since his pricing was so high. I wouldn't use this company again because of the pricing.

This company charges $69.50 for the visit, which is credited against work performed (in other words estimate is not free unless you select this company for the project.) As most other companies were willing to estimate for free, I canceled this apppointment. Disappointing.

There were no problems encountered. As explained above, this was a minor adjustment to a toilet.
Description of Work: Bob, the technician, examined and adjusted the toilet in the master bathroom. Water was running constantly in the toilet bowl, Bob showed me how to adjust the screw to prevent this from happening again. He was professional, courteous, and very helpful. I had used this plumbing company in the past, so I was able to use a $15.00 coupon to lower the repair total. I would definitely recommend this company for any plumbing work needed. Also, the office staff was accommodating in scheduling the appointment and the technician arrived on time and performed his work neatly and quickly.

I did not pursue working with them as I refuse to patronize businesses that cancel at the last minute and don't offer viable solutions. I had a leak - 4 days later for a reschedule isn't appropriate.
Description of Work: I called to have them come and scheduled for 4 days later. They called me at 9 am day of service (were supposed to be there at 9 am) to cancel and try and re-schedule for 3 days after that. I had already stayed home from work/arranged around this. The dishwasher job was done well and professionally, although after I had it done I was told that it was pricey/maybe overdone. The second visit was fine, and Sean came in a timely manner. He did recommend that I reroute my downspouts, which go straight into the draintiles. The estimate for this was about $450, if I remember right. I ended up doing it myself for about $12. The walk through is my main concern. Basically, it seemed like a money-making venture rather than a service. Among other suggestions, he recommended I get a whole new water heater because of a few minor errors in the installation. Mind you, the water heater is about 2 years old, and has been used for less than 1 year, since the house was vacant for much of that time (all of which I told him). When I asked why I wouldn't just fix the few minor mistakes, he falsely stated it would cost around the same (I have checked on this, and it is b.s.) This makes me question their integrity a lot. I'll find another company.
Description of Work: On the first visit, Sean came out to fix the connection to my dishwasher, which had been rigged so that water went from the sink into the dishwasher. He replaced some of the piping below the sink. On the second visit, he came and rodded out a floor drain in our basement which was getting floodwater. The 3rd visit was the complimentary service call which was included in a Silver Service agreement, where another plumber did a walk through of the house.

The point of the service inspection is to inform the customer of any possible issues they may have now or in the future with their plumbing system. They are given all options once the inspection is completed so they can make the decision that is best for them. Given the amount of repairs needed to the water heater, the customer was given the option to repair or replace.

I called on Friday to make an appointment for a $69.50 estimate on dishwasher installation (fee applied to work completed). We made an appointment for Monday at 9 am. On Saturday I realized I would rather not pay for the estimate when so many companies do them for free, so I called to cancel. The woman who answered the phone took my name, address, phone number and appointment time, and told me it was cancelled. However, on Monday morning at 8:35, someone showed up to give the estimate. My husband answered the door and told him the appointment had been cancelled. Apparently, he didn't look too happy about that.

Sean came in on time ( in fact I think a half hour early ). The work took longer than both of us had thought. He did a great job and was very attentive to my tenant. He had to replace some parts which were on the truck and he cleaned up very well. I would call them if it happened again but, they were very expensive even with the Angie's List discount.
Description of Work: A two flat and on Sunday morning both kitchen sinks on first and second floors stopped draining, plunged all day long and only drained the sinks a little. Called Monday morning at 8:00 A.M, they were at the house by 11:00 A.M.

John came out the same day I called even though it was not an emergency. He was neat and very professional. He installed a new flapper to see if that would solve the problem. It took some adjusting etc. but he finally got the water to quit running. He also dropped a tablet in the back of the toilet to perform a leak test. It was fine. He left suggestions in case I had any more problems and told me what part would need to be ordered. He fully explained their service agreement, which I declined. He was very efficient and professional.

WE WERE CALLED OUT TO THIS PROPERTY ON FEBRUARY 16TH. WE ARRIVED AND FOUND A LEAKING VALVE THAT THE TENANT HAD STATED WAS LEAKING FOR QUITE SOME TIME. IN HIS FRUSTRATION HE CALLED US OUT TO FIX IT BECAUSE THE OWNER WOULD NOT. WHILE AT THE PROPERTY WE ATTEMPTED SEVERAL TIMES TO CONTACT THE OWNER BUT HE DID NOT RETURN OUR CALLS. WE DID NOT DO ANY WORK BECAUSE WE WERE DEALING WITH A TENANT SITUATION. IN THE FOLLOWING DAYS WE MADE SEVERAL MORE ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT THE OWNER WITH NO SUCCESS. WE DO ALL OF OUR WORK UP TO CODE AND IT IS NOT UNUSUAL TO PULL PERMITS FOR PLUMBING WORK.

The work was excellent. The plumber showed up on time and did not leave until it was completed. He also explained all the cost to me prior to starting the work. Due to the discount from Angie's list and the discount for the guarantee, I saved approximately $160.00. I did find out I could have saved more if I had removed the dry wall myself. Although they did not replace the dry wall, the plumber did offer to assist me at no cost. I thanked him and explained it was not necessary. The plumber Sean was very nice and helpful. The other thing I liked was that someone from the company called and verified the appointment. I also thought it was interesting that another plumber called on Sean's walkie talkie stating that his job was done and asked Sean if he needed any assistance. Having plumbing done is not cheap, however the price quoted was very close to what I had estimated. Overall this was a job well done.

I called Baethke to fix a leak in a pipe under the sink in my basement. You could see the small hole in the pipe. The guy can out and proceeded to tell me that all my pipes were caroded and had to be replaced. He also said and that I had some problem in the upstairs pipes causing a problem downstairs (which I didn't). He told me it would be about $900 to fix the problem. I talked to the technician on the phone from work ( my teenage son was home for the inspection, so I thought to myself, well maybe I missed something when I looked at the pipes before. So I checked again when I got home. There was nothing wrong with my pipes. My pipes were not caroded at all. I ended up having a friend fix it for me. I paid $26 for parts. Now there is no leak at all under my basement sink. I had to pay the $69.50 for the initial inspection. I found them to be very dishonest in their dealings with me. Do yourself a favor, choose a different plumber.
Description of Work: The work was not performed by Baethke plumbing. They wanted to fix or create a problem where there was none and charge me $900. I ended up having a friend look at it, and he had it fixed in practically no time. He replaced the pipe. I paid $26 for parts. Now there is no leak at all under my basement sink. It was a simple job I wanted them to do( replace 1 pipe ). But instead of giving me an honest estimate, they tried to rip me off. This just kills me because you could see the hole in the small portion of the pipe.

I HAVE LEFT A MESSAGE WITH THE MEMBER TO CLARIFY HER CONCERNS. WE ARRIVED AND THE PIPES HAD CORRODED TO A POINT THAT THERE WAS A HOLE IN ONE OF THEM. THE PIPES ARE ALL THE SAME AGE SO HAVING WORN SO THIN IT ONLY MAKES SENSE TO REPLACE THEM AS THE BEST AVAILABLE FIX. THE MEMBER DECIDED TO JUST PATCH THE PROBLEM AND THAT IS OK; HOWEVER, THAT IS NOT WHAT SHE WAS ASKING OF US. THE MEMBER WANTED TO KNOW WHAT THE COST WOULD BE TO DO IT CORRECTLY. IF SHE HAD REQUESTED JUST A TEMPORARY PATCH WE COULD HAVE ACCOMMODATED HER, ALTHOUGH IT WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN OUR FIRST RECOMMENDATION. WE WILL CONTINUE TO ATTEMPT TO CONTACT HER AND REMEDY ANY CONCERN SHE MAY HAVE WITH OUR SERVICE.

The process started with the initial phone call. John's office was courteous, professional and quick to answer the phone. The technician, Andy was prompt and very professional and well kept in a clean uniform. He even covered his shoes before coming in. Andy could have simply come in and cleaned our sewer drain and left. Instead he ASKED PERMISSION to do a comprehensive review of our plumbing infrastructure. We agreed to move forward with his recommendation...we hadn't lived in the home very long and it was built around the turn of the century. It just seemed like a good idea to know what's going on with our plumbing infrastructure. As a result Andy was able to educate us on our home's plumbing and provided advice on other preventative type measures that we could take. All in all we really appreciate how thorough they were and feel very strongly that we have found a plumbing partner for life. I would refer John Baethke to anyone I know.

The tech had no idea what to do. He merely called the company's customer service line. He gave them wrong information, thus he performed the wrong repair. When reassembling the heater, he forgot to put a loop in the output. The manual warns that this can lead to an explosion. I caught the error. I then called customer service. They confirmed that the repairman gave wrong information. After the discussion we found the problem and it was fixed by a competent and honest dealer. For my money, I got one phone call placed by a clueless tech who gave wrong information, and the installation of a piece of tube that was done in such a way that put my family at risk. My condo also used this company. Incompetent dishonest--THE WORST contractor of any type I have ever used.
